Bob Ross facts: He was in the US Air Force for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant, I can’t even imagine gentle, soft spoken Bob Ross as a sergeant. His hair was permed, he hated it, but he became known for his Afro so he kept it. He absolutely adored animals rescued and cared for injured animals. He seemed like a gentle soul! I have never tried oil painting and most likely never will. You should have left the liquid white, canvas primer, dry before starting to paint., that would have helped some with the mixing, other than that I’m clueless. I’m not brave enough to attempt a Bob painting so you are one step ahead of me on that one. Maybe someday, but not with oil paint. Thanks for another entertaining video and have a great weekend!
@AnthonyCrammen2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow I didn't know he was a sergeant!! It was my first time using liquid white and I have no idea what it's made from but I recorded this video ages ago and the painting is still wet! 😆😆😆 I don't think it's ever going to dry! 🤣🤣 It's one reason why I don't like oil paint, I just find it sooooo difficult to use! If you do try one use acrylic for sure!! 😁😁 Ah and no problem! 😊😊

Bob painted wet on wet. You don’t let the liquid white dry. By painting wet on wet , blending is much easier.

Ohhhh boy... Well, my ex-h and I used to watch Bob Ross all the time back when he was still alive, and we'd just laugh so hard. Not *at* him, but because with his voice, and his comments, and his painting, it all sounded and felt like some sort of perfect dream, and we both knew that any attempts by either of us to do exactly the same things would turn out so far beyond horrible as to defy description. So we never even tried. But you *did* try. Twice! Kudos! 😁 You are way too hard on yourself (it takes one to know one). You're an amazing artist. Just not a Bob Ross clone, and that's totally ok! Have a fantastic weekend! As usual, you've gotten mine off to a great start!

For the first painting: I think you picked a VERY difficult first Bob Ross painting. All those different layers/colors of clouds are hard to achieve. I also think you may have used too much liquid white. It should just be enough to cover the canvas in a thin layer. He also works in pretty thin layers of paint, in general. I love the sky colors in the second painting - very dramatic! I also liked the mountain! I paint in oil more often than acrylic but I kind of just figured out what works for me, even though my methods may not be traditional for oils. I've tried a handful of Bob Ross paintings and liked 2 of them, but my portraits are awesome. Your crafts, creativity, and perseverance is awesome. Can't wait to see what you do next week!

I’m so proud of you for trying a second one without the liquid white. And I really like your second attempt. It looks like a volcanic scene to me. It may not be a Bob Ross but it IS an Anthony Crammen and maybe that is just the way you paint in oils. I think I would have switched to acrylics for my second attempt. That would have been really interesting to see. ❤

Thank you so much. You are the first artist, in a tutorial that I've watched, to make me LOL. Seriously, I was with you and understanding where you were coming from the whole time. I think I laughed so much because I could relate. I am still learning, and I have had many discouraging moments, and results with my paintings. Thank you for showing that it happens to all of us. Ok, maybe some more than others... Also, you get several points for reminding us of Bob Ross and his positive attitude. When I first saw him paint, I didn't "get" him, and I laughed at his happy little trees. Now I am a painter too, and I still laugh. Now, I like it when he talks about the happy little trees. I laugh because I am happy and enjoying the moment. You have me as a new subscriber. 😊

Two thoughts: Painting #1 turn it into an abstract. Painting 2 much better turn the bottom into more of an abstract grassy woodsy area. 3. I would love to see you try again with acrylic. I get the same way you do, completely frustrated and over the whole thing when I try to follow someone else. I realized I'm not them but maybe I can learn how to blend or how to work my palette knife more. When it all goes wrong, just make a mess and enjoy making the mess and sometimes you end up with trash other times it's a real piece of art.

Use paper towels to clean the oil paint off. Wipe each section straight across until you see canvas again. Use fluffier brushes and get some more colors. I LIKED your second attempt! Oil paint is a pain in the ASS. I paint with acrylics and regular wall paint when it's on sale. Try the same technique with acrylics and use a slow drying medium. Gives you more time to blend. Don't be so hard on yourself. The THIRD time's the charm! I painted wall murals for years. Never knew I could paint! Trial and error. I thought blue and red made purple... WRONG! If you want a gorgeous purple, you use Quinacridone Magenta and a small amount of Cerulean Blue. Oh. My. God! It is sooo beautiful. I'll post a little video on my channel. It's amazing! Never feel bad my dear boy. You are very talented.

Hey Ant, thanks for this weekend's Bob Ross inspired video 😁😁 You really are too hard on yourself - your paintings were really original and not just Bob Ross copies 😊 As you say, oil painting is super difficult and can take years to master (and the lengthy drying times and inflexible nature was one of the reasons why acrylics came along) 😆 Plus, Bob Ross had been doing these kind of paintings for years before he had his TV show - and he always did a first version of each painting before filming so he knew exactly what to do on camera!
@AnthonyCrammen2 жыл бұрын
