I love videos like these because when people say hair typing is dumb, it’s perfectly clear that not all natural hair is the same so why would I watch 3c/4a videos if I was 4c, I mean don’t get me wrong, sometimes the tips are helpful but for the most part, it’s not gonna come out the same
@locturallylocs90975 жыл бұрын
Exactly! this is why I cringe the most when I see black women drooling over hair video's by mixed raced women. Even tho there are exceptions, MOST of them do not have 4c hair. We need to press 'next' and keep it moving.

@dpulliam1016 жыл бұрын
exactly. the caption is what made me watch this. this is funny and true all at the same time. I am natural and( I've had my moments of wanting straight hair again (a perm) but honestly) I don't think i'll ever go back to perms. I'm happy with my hair. But the trick to being natural, at least one trick, is....just like this video, you can watch a video for guidance or instructions but the hair texture - you can't watch a video with a girl who has 1/2 curly hair from the start and think that your hair is going to turn out the same. I just remember people like Mahogany Curls and one other girl and from the start, I clearly watched for instruction only. No matter the styling method, and definitely the product you use, your hair type is what dictates how your hair will turn out. There is no miracle product. I still, to this day, use flax seed gel in almost every style, because that's what works for me. So yes, watch and learn, and also be realistic, like this video. This video is a great job and funny simultaneously.

They often put "sodium hydroxide" (lye), which is what I think you meant to say, in small amounts into a product to balance the pH level of the product; it is fine. You can find it in some shampoos on the very bottom of the ingredients' list.
@victoriau6237 жыл бұрын
Marleen G. As a first year cosmetic scientist this is indeed true, NaOH is added to increase the ph and make it more basic and citric acid is added when u need to decrease the ph and make it more acidic. This is all done in small amounts and does not hurt
@Desaundrea6 жыл бұрын
However, If you find Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide in the first two lines of the ingredient list, you need to put that product back where you found it. This means there is more of the lye in that product than you would be comfortable with.
@amixeblu6 жыл бұрын
Very true, it depends on where on the ingredients' list it is. Normally if it is towards the end, you have nothing to worry about. Still, I am always careful but I do have products in my stash (some shampoos from Aldi) that have it as their last ingredients.

@graup13096 жыл бұрын
@@Rose-jz6sx yes! Me too. I've actually probably learnt more from tutorials of especially 4C girls about my own hair (which, mind you, is almost entirely straight) than I have ever learnt from your average blonde girl with straight/wavy hair. Mainly because my hair is a fucking mess and I've never convinced it to hold any shape other than its natural one for longer than a day. Even if I put what feels like 2 cans of hair spray in it. That's what I love about natural hair tutorials, especially from 4C girls. They talk about stuff like breakage and just generally the problems they have with their hair, whereas most tutorials by white girls act like hair is just naturally perfect and could never break or thin or anything. No, everyone has perfect voluminous hair that naturally falls in big beautiful waves, while I'm sitting at home and air drying my hair without letting a brush come near it bc otherwise it will just be glued to my head.
