Genshin is unironically one of the deepest most beautiful games out there, and the story only improves as it goes on. Yes its a gacha game but you can play it perfectly fine as F2P with no obnoxious ads or in-your-face micro transactions. Honestly the fact a game of this size and quality exists and is free is wild to me and I cannot understand the hate it gets. Are there some toxic people out there? Yeah, sure. But millions of people play this game of course there are. For the most part I see more toxicity from people shitting on Genshin than I do from within the community, which is for the most part pretty wholesome imo.

I feel like the most hate comes from those who hate anime and/or gacha genre in general. Like, they see it's labeled as "gacha" and thus they don't even bother to try it. Because hey, it's gacha, aka gambling, it must be bad, and people must be delulu if they play this, surely no one's enjoying Genshin, they're all fake glazers! And I'm like yeah whatever, you do you. Same with the fact that it can be played on mobile, which makes it a mobile game in many people's eyes, and who would want to play a mobile game, right? It can't be good if you can play it on the phone. Two other hater groups that don't even play the game and probably won't be playing it, ever, are the ones who hate Genshin because of it's popularity. Like, you know, mainstream things can't be good. It's cool and edgy to hate popular things. And the second group are twitter people who cry about lack of proper representation and raise other silly "inclusivity" issues, completely forgetting it's a fantasy game in a fictional world and was never meant to represent the real world and its diversities. Then there's a group of players who cry about underwhelming rewards, which is a ridiculous reason to hate a game, because it means they never found the game fun anyway - they treat it as a job and they expect to be rewarded for playing, completely forgetting that the reward of playing a video game lies in the act of playing itself; THAT'S the reward, the content you experience. Imagine calling Witcher 3 a bad game because you don't get a new skin for Geralt on the game's anniversary. Like, what... And another group that hates it for the lack of certain QoL features they've asked for years, which leads them to believe that devs ignore them, when in reality devs hear all voices loud and clear and they simply choose not to do certain things, for reasons known to them. People get mad that their feedback isn't noticed, but they forget that devs aren't obligated to address that feedback. There are things I'd like to see implemented in Genshin myself, but HATING the game for the absence of certain features, when you get so much high-quality, highly polished stuff to experience, is CRAZY to me.

This! I barely have any toxic interactions in this game. Most of the toxicity comes from people who don't even play the game or have stopped near the beginning of it. Also as an f2p, I completely agree, I'm constantly contending with my bad spending habits, but it's so dang easy to avoid spending in this game unless you're a hopeless spender that simps over every character 😂 As for me, I'm in it for the lore and the exploration~

That's not a reason to inherently dislike a game, but is absolutely a reason not to play it or support it. With that being said i think people using that to shit on Genshin is stupid, when really they just dislike Gacha games. (all ppl should.) And i agree with the mobile games thing. My opinion though is that a mobile version of a PC game is almost always inferior, thus creating the stereotype. Also, all top level mobile players will be significantly worse than a good PC player. (for any FPS/PVP game. Like league or PUBG/Fortnite)

Not sure if anyone else has said this, but a couple of simple tips for later on. Elemental reactions are a rather big thing in this game. I won't suggest what reactions to go for, as there's plenty of viable options/characters for almost all of them at this point. But a big amount of damage will be to switch to trigger these reactions. You can always look up guides for more. (This is kind of the highlight of the game's combat, being centered heavily around it. There is something called "Physical" if you want to focus on that, but uh...it'll be rough, let's say.) Ascending and leveling up characters is a very good thing, but an even more important thing is your character's talents. Every character has three (A basic attack, skill, and ultimate.) leveling these up drastically powers your characters. (I didn't even know/remember these were a thing to level when I was trying to get stronger and wondering why my damage was so low still, lol.) Another big thing, though at the beginning isn't too important. Is the artifacts. Just like talents, they drastically help increase your charaters strength. I probably would wait a bit until you can grind the purple artifacts before delving too heavily into this. Watching people play the early game like this without any clue as to what their doing is really nostalgic lol. I hope these help, and sorry if you already knew or that it came off a little too much. I know the game tells you a lot of this, but you'd be surprised by the sheer number of players who typically ignore what is thrown at them and only realize later either on their own or when looking for a guide of some sort.

For a new player, Genshin is an absolutely incredible game to play completely free. As someone who's been playing since 1.0 I can confidently say that the live service aspects and content are sub par at best but all of the permanent content is fantastic.

The beginning is just me 4 weeks ago where I started (Now at AR45 and in Sumeru) Update - Can say I'm now AR 55. Did all the story quest, and now doing Inazuma's world quest. Yeah can say it's going to be hell. Now with 5.2 on its way, gotten Kazuha, Maulani, Kinich, Xilonen, and Nahida (Unfortunately didn't get Ei) now chasca will be coming home.

I get liking Keqing more but Thighnari just outclasses her in everything single way as a standard banner carry

Something to note: The AR requirements for each main quest tapers off at AR 40 ultimately, but that is gradual (highest min AR req for Mondstadt is 18, for Liyue 28, for Inazuma 30, for Sumeru 35, and for Fontaine and Natlan 40) so if you do all of the sidequests (especially because starting in Inazuma, you start getting full-on quest chains), main quest, and daily commissions, as well as empty your resin and explore whenever you can, you'll gradually raise your rank at a steady pace.

You can absolutely skip the hints and go straight to the locations, Kaeya will even comment on the fact you never needed his help. there's a shocking amount of alt dialoge depending on what quests or cutscenes you've experienced in a certain order. Some dialoge is permanently locked away because of limited events sadly.

Honestly, if you enjoyed your time with this little stuff that you did in genshin, I highly recommend you keep playing, the story is well written, the scenery can be breathtaking, and the music is immaculate. Also, just as a person who’s played this game for years now, I heavily suggest you go for the story in chronological order, instead of jumping to the natlan main story quest immediately(that’s apparently an option after you finish the main quest in Mondstat now). I just think the game is best appreciated when you take your time with it instead of rushing into the newest content, tho with certain limited time events being very heavy on having completed certain story quests beforehand to appreciate the event stories, I don’t exactly blame you if you decide to rush.

I was one of those who didn't play for awhile bcs I've seen the first anniversary drama. My friend even said i should play Arknights instead of Genshin (bcs i bought new phone back then and wanted to play a game). Well i tried both. Unfortunately I'm more of an open-world kinda person than tower defense (i think that's what Arknights is). Here i am almost three years into Genshin, i barely survived playing Arknights for 4 months. The story gets better and better. The dev team also found a way for world quests to be more bearable (for most ppl, i still think Aranara quest series isn't that bad). Also played Wuwa on the side but I've lost interest and didn't log in for... A week i think. Too many half naked girls not enough men. I got my Xiangli Yao and then dipped.

The beginning story ( mondstadt , liyue ) is not that interest but after you dive deeper into the story ( inazuma, sumeru, Fontaine, or natlan) you will find out how fun genshin is especially the story , gameplay , exploration or even music in that game

Imo, while other gacha games such as hsr, wuwa and all strive to be an amazing gacha game, genshin tries to evolve from more than a game into something like an art. Genshin community also has one of the best artists. From awesome amvs like epoch winter or light in the abyss to the most depraved shit (namely the yoimiya and lumine doujinshis), you gotta appreciate the creativity. Genshin has always stood out to me as more memorable and iconic experience than other gacha games. Despite the lack of good QoLs and rewards, that's not the main reason as to why I started playing this game. I play for characters, music, lore, storyline and new regions. If someone doesn't like genshin, it's alright for you to think if you have valid reasons but you cant shit on those ppl who are actively having fun in the game (Unreal Dreamer, MurderofBirds and Minsleif are some of the most chill genshin streamers that I watch). Sometimes, I wish this whole conflict can stop and we can all vibe with each other for good.

Kinda unrelated to the point of the video but after seeing you experience Dragonspine, it made me have some thoughts. The unfortunate thing about Dragonspine is that it sets up a false precedent for the rest of the game. Dragonspine is the only area of its kind. By that I mean the only area with a difficulty spike and area-wide environmental hazards. When I first came across Dragonspine I was like, "if this is what the game has to offer, I'm all in, this is awesome!" I expected areas to get progressively harder or, at least, have more side areas that are more difficult than Dragonspine. But there are none. To this day I'm still very disappointed that Genshin's open world difficulty peaks at Dragonspine. Yes Inazuma has some sort of dangerous areas but, imo, aren't as daunting or big as dragonspine. (For example Tsurumi's fog was very disappointing). The Chasm for how imposing it is, isn't actually that dangerous. The Withering zones in Sumeru are cool but are far too scarce and small for my liking. I would've liked a Dragonspine sized withering zone. I know local legends exist in terms of combat challenge, but they feel cheap and out of place. The areas they are in aren't imposing and everything around them is easy, so having them just plopped into an otherwise peaceful area, is very odd. Basically I'm saying, I think Dragonspine is really cool and I wish we had more areas like it. And I wish that Genshin's open world was generally more hostile. (Not Elden Ring levels of hostile but just a bit more than it is now)
