Can you find my hidden treasure? I tried geocaching in the Peak District. I searched around Stanton Moor for geocaches, logging any I found AND leaving some of my own treasures for the next person to find.
I used the free version of the geocaching app but might upgrade to the premium version to get more details and access to more caches.
The weather turned crazy on this one. I decided to bail after I got drenched to the bone, but not before I'd stashed some loot and visited a few historical sites in the area.

Tried geocaching just near my home when it first started - think I'll get back to it, you reminded me what fun it is to find "buried treasure"! Happy 2024!

Geocaching is great fun! It can turn a regular hike into something a bit more interesting. Plus it's free and you discover parts of a regular hike that you would might otherwise overlook.

Happy New Year to you and your family. It's not often you see geocaching on camping / hiking videos on here. As a solo female hiker / walker, geocaching made hiking just that bit more interesting. Before going for a walk / hike , I always check to see if there are any nearby. I thought you were going to give up - and was urging you to move the stone slab. Congratulations on your find.

Rock outcrop thingie majigies... why indeed, that's technical lol. What a great idea with the geo-caching hunting and leaving treasure for the next person. If possible you could make some GPS coordinates on your phone and make a scavenger hunt for people who want to participate. Post the coordinates on some site or maybe here on KZbin so that your subscribers can go hunting for things that you maybe got to review but don't really need and want to pass on to someone else.

@Daley outdoors. coincidently we were out for a walk today and found what we thought was a geocaching box, the mrs opened it with pen in hand to sign the book to find a faded photo and some grey powder, after a few seconds of processing as to what she was looking at, to realise that it was someones ashes and wedding photo at gretna green . . :D :D :D true story

This seems to be an updated version of the Dartmoor 'Letter Box' (first 1854), not something I'd be doing but interesting nonetheless. Nice little bit of history thrown in too. Boskednan in Cornwall also known as the 'Nine Maidens' has a similar story behind it. And Dartmoor also has one too, though this has sixteen stones (in Devon 10 is all they can count to, due to fingers). Never having been there I'd guess your circle is a late Neolithic or early Bronze Age cairn (burial) with just the outer stones left, the large stone may have been the cap to a cist/kist (stone coffin) long robbed out. I'll stop now before I get even more boring...

I bloody love this weather. In 2023 I had to endure about 9 months of almost relentless blazing sun tormenting my vampire DNA. All you fair-weather fannies can go to Spain, or a tanning salon for all I care, wind and rain is wonderful. By the way, I'm definitely flipping off the next trig point I see. 🖕
