Gt4 by default has some pretty stiff racing suspension, making low-speed weight-transfer difficult. If you bring the springs down 15% or so and the dampers down 50% or so, raising the ride height 5-10mm, it will help moderately. Even with good suspension tuning, wheelspin under 40mph isn't very great, but it's still an enjoyable experience.

Hey Jimmy, the issue you are having with the brake peddal is you didnt bind it the way it should be, try pushing the pedal at 100% then hitting the bind button, then releasing the pedal, it should say full axis, instead of axis only, that fixed it for me.

@@dixalicous While you have the game open with a car on a track, try to switch from Axis+ to Fullaxis, one of them has to work, i dont remember which ended up working for me but i had to change them with my game open for it to get corrected, hope it helps
@Limeaway
@Limeaway Ай бұрын
I got VNM pedals to work by following a similar method. Press the pedal down all the way (as far as you can for a load cell brake), click to bind, release the pedal, then if nothing changes, give the pedal another quick tap and you should see “FullAxis” listed. After binding everything, I recommend saving this input profile. This is important for the next section. Some pedals end up inverted, you’ll know it’s inverted if after binding it shows something like “FullAxis~”. You need to remove the “~” to fix it and that can be done by closing PCSX2, opening the PCSX2 root folder, then open up the config file located in the inputprofiles folder (you did create an input profile, right?). You can open this file using notepad. Once its open, scroll all the way down until you find [USB1] and you’ll see your steering bindings listed there. Remove the “~” from both gas and brake bindings. Save, close, then relaunch pcsx2. You should be good to go. I’d also recommend right clicking GT4, opening properties, then assigning the input profile to whatever you saved earlier. Regarding the FFB cutting out, this is an intentional “safety feature” implemented by the PCSX2 devs. I guess in the past they had problems with some games that wouldnt send a follow up command/signal to stop FFB. So the “fix” was to set a 10 second timer that shuts off FFB automatically. Hopefully with Spec II gaining popularity, it’ll pull in someone from the community who has knowledge of software that can help the devs sort out FFB implementation. The current team doesn’t have any avid sim racers, so none of them have hardware to help them debug any issues.

I loved this game so much. That you had to buy a car, maintain it, actually build it up, race it for a view races ... etc. It really gave you a story with the car and build you up as a driver. Modern games just throw a huge amount of cars and tracks at you. In the end you bick your favorite car, a view beloved circuits and get some fun. But those games don't push you to learn by any mean. Either you do it yourself, or you end up playing something else.

@MuscleCarLover The one weird one I remember was called the Negcon that went with Ridge Racer Type 4. So I wouldn't be surprised if they had a weird one for the original Ridge Racer as well that I missed. But no, they sold a ton of Dual Analog PS1 controllers at all the stores back then. Shortly thereafter they came out with the Dualshock, which added rumble support, making the standard Dual Analog redundant, and it quickly disappeared from shelves as it has been replaced for the now standard Dual Shock. So most people had either the original controller with no sticks, or the Dualshock because the window for the Dual Analog was short on the shelves. There was a lot of pressure to get the new Dualshock when Metal Gear Solid came out because it was almost a requirement for certain moments in the game (psycho mantis), and the way that game used the rumble effects was revolutionary at the time. After MGS everyone had a Dualshock. The part about the Japanese exclusive was actually the other way around. When the first PlayStation analog controller was made in Japan, it already had the rumble feature. However, for the USA market they removed the rumble feature for some reason and gave us the Dual Analog version with sticks but no rumble. Then later sold us that feature in the form of the Dualshock. But Japan never had an analog controller that didn't have the rumble support. So the Dual Analog without rumble was an exclusive bare bones version for U.S. and the Japanese kept the fancy features for themselves in the beginning.

A lot of people remember GT4 as understeery because, for some unfathomable reason, driving assists (ASM/TCS) are on by default and have to be manually disabled _for every car._ It slows you down and make all the cars feel terrible. Tho it has to be said and idk if that was only an issue due to me using Thrustmaster and their products not having a lot of settings like others, I did have to put in a 1% Deadzone (changed it to 0.7% in the config) to not have viciously overpowered oscillations and other weird things (even with lowered overall Strength of Forces in the driver), but other than that, incredible! @@kylehamilton7264 It's definitely bound on two devices? If not you could try a third? This fix did work for Fanatec wheels, but maybe it doesn't for others? I speculate the reason that fix worked for us is that Fanatec wheels are recognized by Windows as two devices because they're too complex to work off of a single USB device, so it's assigned to two separate USB devices (from a single port) instead. The emulator probably doesn't account for that, so without two devices bound maybe it can't handle it. Just speculating there though.

This mod and GT PSP show that the cockpit camera for "Standard" cars in GT5 and GT6 could've been much better. One thing you notice is that on the PS3 games, you can't see the body of your car, like, say, one where you should clearly see the hood from the driver's perspective, or having the actual car's external mirrors, be them plastic or body-colored, or carbon, or the beautiful chrome mirrors of your NA Miata V-Special in "Neo Green". Also you can see a bit of the dashboard. Some smoothing and blurring to the textures that looked like the ones on the Skyline and Supra could make it work well, making it look more like theone on the CLK-GTR. On GT PSP you can't see the dashboard like this.. except for some Skylines, but I think it was an oversight and not intended, but sure looked neat for PSP. And it was an earlier opportunity to see how it could've looked like on GT5 and 6. Many hated on the Standard cars, but nowadays those games are like the resting place for most of those, cars we would not see on any game afterward, even less so on one as good as even one of the less-liked Gran Turismo titles can still be.

8:13 more than nostalgia, I think it's because, when you're young, everything new feels "more new", while, when you grow up, you have this feeling of "oh, I've seen that already", due to the experience you make through the years, so you become less and less easy to impress, but not because you want to be an a**hole or anything, but simply because you truly experience more and more, so there's less and less that can make you say "WOW!", unless it's something completely new. But that needs to be something you've never considered/done before, in your whole life. Nostalgia comes to play, literally, when you prefer to play old stuff than new one, because playing old games takes you back to such pleasant feelings you felt back then (which is happening to me lately. F*king 40's that are approaching 😅😂). This said, GT4 IS a masterpiece, period 😁

Gt 4 was my favourite. I feel it was actually the most accurate sim. I had a wheel then to. I built my ae86 and it felt exactly the same. Down to the rpm. I even built the cockpit to match and ae86s measurements for seating.

I waited to get a PS2 till the GT4 combo with the Logitech wheel. Built a stand out of scrap wood my dad had in the garage. My collection of spare crap laying around was not at my dad's level back then. lol So, I only played it with a wheel. It was a blast back then. Spent more days than I care to admit dead tired at work because I was up all night playing GT4.

Wasn't the Driving Force GT a PS3 wheel though? The PS2 had the Driving Force (what I used) and the GT Force I think it was called (fewer buttons than the Driving Force it looks like)

@@MuscleCarLovercorrect, there was actually a lineup of Driving Force wheels by Logitech supported in GT4, with Driving Force Pro being the best one boasting 900 degrees of rotation... DFGT was released later on, after G25

Many of us lost out sim cherrys with a Logitech Driving Force on GT 3 onwards. The experience was exceptional to be honest - never played the games with a controller in fact! Off to see how I can make this work in PC/SIm land now... Closest has been GT mod tracks in AC until now.

I just watched this and decided to set my wheel up in the emulator. Went to one of the hardest license tests in the game (R32 at trial mountain) and immediately found consistently quicker times by about .2. This game has no right being so good from a time when I was still in high school.
