What would you choose for your additional 3 ingredients and how would you use them?

I would a veggie maybe green beans and then the French onions, maybe the peppers blend then use those to make a green bean casserole. Omg Lisa Dawns food looked amazing!!
@cheryl67162 сағат бұрын
I would buy a bag of Great Northern Beans or Pinto Beans to make a pot of Beans, a bag of Frozen Broccoli and a pouch of Velveeta Sauce to put on top of the cooked Broccoli.
@sallyjean14722 сағат бұрын
My extra three --- I'd buy a bag of frozen peas since I love peas as a side with potatoe dishes. I'd also buy a can of the yams. And, I'd buy some coffee to serve with the desert. Love your new home. I lived in the Pacific Northwet for nearly 20 years and loved it. I hope you love it as much as I did. Just get some good rain gear for you and the pups.
@janiehowington76222 сағат бұрын
I think I would choose a green vegetable that fit in the budget, and also, a little cheese for the potatoes, even if I had to buy some tiny individual cubes or slices and just sprinkle it on top of the potatoes. You always amaze me how you can do so much with so little. Have a cozy, cheery Merry Christmas and Happy 2025!

We have a tradition in Poland called "Wigilia" (Christmas Eve) where we prepare "12 dishes" for every participant to try. Old Polish beliefs said that it was made to celebrate 12 Apostles, and you need to try all of them to prevent yourself from famine next year. Sometimes while watching your videos I wonder how they would be made using products available in Europe to have a "budget Christmas Eve supper" . There would be fishes, soups, sometimes pierogi and other things to replace. Easiest to replace would be Kutia as it's just a mix of grains/nuts/honey/poppy seed mass/raisins etc. We have some differences here but some things are similar too. I think things from this video here would be available.

I've had a lot of people tell me about 7 fishes but I've never heard of Wigilia, that's such a neat tradition. I'll definitely look into it! I always mean to try more international holiday recipes but when December rolls around I always have less time than I anticipate lol I'm going to prioritize it next year

@@sueallen319 We prepare for our Wigilia tomorrow. We will have some fish, pierogi, barszcz (betroot soup) , kutia (wrote about it before) and other things ;) Not as much as in years before though ;) And ofc you need to wait until there's 1st star on the sky to begin feasting ;) Our wigilia is without meat, but i plan to include it in future, as times change.

Watching more of her videos, you'll be a pro in no time hon. I guarantee, you'll get it. :) When I was in my early 20's I could only make knorr pasta packs comfortably, now i'm doing all the holiday cooking. It takes time. Luckily, since you can't avoid feeding yourself, you'll get tons of time to practice. Here's something I do to make packet gravy taste better: Saute some onions until their brown and delicious in butter or margerine. Put in your pack of gravy mix and a TINY bit of liquid, cooking the mix into the onions like a roux almost. Add warmed water or broth and some margerine/butter that's been melted together with your liquid similar to stovetop dressing to the onion/gravy mix and stir, stir stir while cooking! Instant ELEVATED gravy

I've done this and it actually works, if you do toast them in a skillet. The Trifle loons great,I definitely agree that whipped cream would add that " little extra ". The potato and ham dish you’ve made looked so good and it’s super creative. Definitely a great way to have all the typical flavours and components of a more elaborate dinner but it’s conveniently all in one pot. I’d personally would just steam some green beans and have them as a simple side to balance out the heaviness of the potato and ham dish. The desert looks super tasty too. Great job! It’s crazy what you’re able to do with that limited money and you’re able to make it look way more pricey than it was.

Something in instant pudding is activated by something in dairy milk but I have had pretty good look with soymilk (I maybe use 3/4 the amount of soymilk as what the box calls for), although they don't sell that at Dollar Tree. Any kind of liquid should work fine with the cook n serve pudding though because it just uses cornstarch.
