As a Yoshi main since Tekken 3, my advice is: don’t force the cool moves to happen. Instead, wait for an opportunity and then quickly react. If you go around using the copter/flea/bad breath etc. all the time, your opponents will always call you out. It’s hard not to use those moves a lot, since that’s Yoshi’s unique thing, but you just need to focus and rely on fundamentals and treat the special moves as an ace up your sleeve, not your bread and butter.
@raylnz7 ай бұрын
Thanks for this I definitely go overboard with the cool moves 😂
@AngeloGene7 ай бұрын
@@raylnzI will give you an ever so slightly better advice? Not to be rude to the first commenter of course! They said an extremely good tip. As for my tip (from a Fujin ranked Yoshi) , you can do all the cool moves you want. But you have to set it up. I'll give you a good one! Yoshi's suicide (ff 1+4). Make your opponent block Yoshi's Fubuki knee (ff 4). Then when they least expect it, use it as a round ender. It's very satisfying. This setup has never failed me, even when they know it's coming. Just don't abuse it though. Your opponents will eventually learn. xD

@@AngeloGene Yeah because your played experience is going to be his played experience so the same round ender makes sense ofc. /s stfu Also, when was he rude to anyone? Genuine question
@AngeloGene7 ай бұрын
@@Havik880 Um... I was saying that I was not trying to be rude. Not anyone else. Please don't misunderstand. Also, it's called conditioning. When you condition someone in Tekken to block a certain move, your opponent will block it consistently. Yoshimitsu's Fubuki Knee (ff4)is a safe launcher that leaves Yoshimitsu back turned. Now Yoshi's suicide has a very similar animation that also leaves him in Back Turned stance and the suicide is unblockable. I have enough experience to know what I'm talking about, dude. I'm sorry if I offended you? But I will not "stfu". I see a new Yoshimitsu player, I will always offer help and give all the Yoshi Discord Tech I know of.

As 800 hr yoshi player. For beginer to learn flash is flashing when you get hit by lows. Many low on hit put you in minus 4 - 5 frame, especially those low with standing animation. If your opponent try to pressure you after the low, they will get flashed. And slowly, you will get the feeling and experience to flash. For more advance use, use it to punish. More Yoshi ranked, please! Love your content. I'll be tuning in for more. I'm just a Fujin rank Yoshi and I am extremely impressed by your use of his uppercut (df 2) in your gameplay. It's a great keep out tool to make your opponents regret running into you. xD My biggest tip for you is 3 of Yoshi's defensive tools: 1) Flash 2) Kincho parry 3) Spinning evade Option 2 is a little advanced and has little application so don't worry about that yet. But do NOT sleep on spinning evade. Back 3 3 (or b4 4) is your Get out of jail free card for most of your opponent's retaliation. Yes, it costs a bit of life but it is worth it. Whiff punish with b2, 2 or df2 launch them for a combo. And even if you forgot to punish, you can still threaten them with Fubuki Knee (ff4) or dash into them for a low or throw. 👍

You give yourself what amounts to chip damage and in return, you get a whiff punish or a free mix up. 👍

Nah green ranks in your first week of Tekken is good af. Half of Tekken is mental adjustment and you’ve shown that you have that already, you’ll hit red rank way before you know it
@micshaz7 ай бұрын
Except the point system for the last season allows people below reds to be on a consistent losing streak and still be herded towards those ranks, this is due to an extreme lack of players occupying the lower ranks and they even completely got rid of wood ranks; tekken god mains have their alts in high reds/rulers so the hand holding stops there. I've been consistently running into very very low "rank" players in fujin since my pc died and switching to ps4 for a while. Setting a ranked goal right now is very very pointless

I‘m a mishima main since Tekken6 and picked up yoshi for the first time. I got him to Tenryu now with lots of sweating, lots of choking but also really good matches, being unpredictable as hell. However I also often am really lucky since I rely on opponents often not knowing the matchup that well. When the opponents has some knowledge, like ducking some highs etc. I notice that I dont have super strong mix up options to really put pressure on the opponent like mishimas. With mishimas, no matter if someone knows all of your moves, its difficult for them to read you and if they guess wrong, they die. With yoshi its a bit harder. You have to really stay flexible, using much of his moveset because otherwise the opponent wont respect anything. Your fundamentals have to be really strong and your defense on point. A bit unga bunga is sometimes helpful but not always. I would say he is definately one of the hardest characters

As a yoshi main myself i can give this advice. Yoshis gimmicks and stance game is like a call out card. If your opponent doesnt know. Abuse it. If they are wise to it. Then utilize his oki setups to try and start mixups with those stances. His fundamental tools are weak by design. Imo they are meant to annoy opponents into falling into yoshis many traps. With solid fundies and movement youll be clowning on people in no time. Good luck! Hope to see you in T8.

If you want to have good neutral id honestly reccomend using no sword stance, it simplifies your gameplay down, gives you good lows, a dickjab, an excellent 10frame punish, sightly better wall carry and most importantly a useable flash. And once your opponent starts respecting your neutral, that's where you pull out the oki loops, unblockables, dragonfly, flea, sword sweep, etc.

I mean you said it kinda almost yourself but it got called out so often I thought i just might say it again: You didnt get "cheesed" once you just decided not to block because you wanted to let your moves do their work in wrong situations. What is perfectly fine for a beginner and nothing to be ashamed of. Dont force yourself to feel like you have to know these moves or recognize them the second someone uses it against you. Thats not part of an efficient and also mentally healthy training progress. Personally for me it worked wonders when I saw new moves that I just didnt know how to defend myself and got my ass kicked to see as a new challenge. The game stays fresh this way, almost every match you learn something new instead of getting pissed at the enemy or in the end yourself and it makes the learing process much more enjoyable. You will adapt over time, see you in T8

This is to bait greedy opponents trying to wake up kick me off of my Dragon fly stance and clipping them with DGF 4 counter hitting them. Another tip is if you have an opponent next to a wall, try baiting their wake up with u/b 1+2 1. This is the move that spins yoshimitsu's sword infront of him.. another option is FC f/d 1. Of course all these are hard to pull off if you havent gotten a feel for yoshi yet but its a good place to start

I don't know you, that's the first video I see of you. But given what I saw, you can reach much higher ranks. Against green / yellow ranks, all you have to do is to turtle. Defend as much as you can, punish with 1,1, b2,2 or df2. That's all you need. If you try to trade blow for blow you'll end up losing as your opponent will most likely not even be aware of how frames work. Thus, his action won't make much sense. It's just button mashing at this stage. Tank it and punish. This requires a fair bit of knowledge about the cheesiest characters but everyone can do it. Once you reach red ranks, things start to become different. Some really good players who start picking up new characters begin in those ranks, while some others are stuck there for more than 2000 matches. This helps get an idea of who you are facing.
