Perfect work to compare. May be a Real jump, and a 360 turn-over more, and you cover most of the gestures.

Very nice! Foot sliding is the easiest to fix on my case, so plask. I was the most natural movement looking anyway. Btw have you tried the Nvidia omniverse version of tracking?

Oh not yet, I've seen really good things with Omniverse though, really powerful stuff! I'll have to try it out sometime soon.

What kind of camera are you using for the capture and do you have a camera you recommend?

I was using an old Canon 60D DSLR but any phone would be more than enough nowadays.

Are there any open-source solutions for this kind of tracking, decent or not? I mean something that doesn’t cap the amount of free seconds, so free but closed-source alternatives are also of interest.

Oh gosh I'm not sure to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if there was. If you get all your ducks in a row and are super efficient, the free 30 seconds can go a long way surprisingly but yeah if you're looking to play around and experiment it wouldn't be enough I don't think. Hopefully someone out there is making something!

The most hardest things to make (no VFX..) is to create a character or an environment by sculpting, modeling and create realistic sci-fi textures what a AI can't do. When you already have your character, I will say that you have achieved 95% of the work of the AI without counting the fact that you will be able to help her afterwards and also corrected it, next she just most understand what is a hand, foot... but you help her everytime. I think what AI can do today is crazy but it might be hard for her to do better even years later. With what i say i explain AI can rigging a chara and with motion capture copied & paste animation. But let’s not forget all the bugs they will cause and the moments when they won't be of any use.

@@RussellMidfield :) Also the head tilting may be due to mask, glasses and hat causing trouble in proper face recognition. As may the white knees impact the recognition system... The idea is to make a character look as an action hero after tracking... not before. :) lol just joking. Still a very helpful video.. The first one would be great if not for the feet sliding. Hope they fix it soon...

I thing you should do this without a black mask and sunglasses. Clearly there is an issue with head position tracking. Otherwise this is an informative comparison.

Haha yeah a Rokoko suit would be crazy. I thought these were pretty good all things considered. You can always clean the animations up too in Blender or other programs to make them even better.

@@RussellMidfield I found, on YT, a seemingly nice animation A.I. that smooths animation in between manually inputted poses, it's called "Cascadeur". Tho it's not like it would turn videos to mocap.
