It just showed to me that the 'game designer' guy lacked creativity, humility, a sense of humour and most importantly a sense of freedom. He was more focused on himself through his manner of expression and evaluation, than on what he was creating. Kind of like most post-2006 game devs I've known. The industry's degradation has contributed to that though.

@MrJayVFX
@MrJayVFX 6 ай бұрын
i think the matter with the ten week artist is that he's in a mindset of improving, rather than expressing, so he's paying a lot of attention to real-life mechanics rather than interesting animation. he's not quite able to express himself, but he's applying knowledge.

@@MrJayVFX You should be applying creativity and expression throughout any stage. I can tell from the way this guy was commentating on his process that he would be like this no matter how experienced he was. Im a student at university for 1 year now for Computer Animation. Been enjoying these colabs! maya focuses like much in animations While blender is like both in modeling and animating Modeling in maya is pain
@AppNasty
@AppNasty 6 ай бұрын
@@File.Namee2 Maybe it's because I was taught but modeling in Maya for me is hella easy. Literally just WRE keys. Right click is a menu, shift right click is a menu. Done. I try to model in Blender and everything is so far apart to access it makes it confusing. Obviously if I spend more time using blender it will be ome easy. My son when he models he is hopping through all the shortcuts just as fast as I am in Maya. So it comes down to if you spend the time. Sculpting and modeling in Maya is pretty much the exact same as Blender. Capability wise I mean. But we use ZBrush to focus on sculpting. I prefer Nomad Sculpt on my iPad personally.

This is a great concept! It shows the difference in skill which is something so useful to see. You often don't understand WHY something works so well until you see it side by side with something made by less experienced people. I really appreciate you putting yourself out there and show how a lack of skill is no reason to not try stuff your unfamiliar with. It's a great mindset for developing your expertise. As a side note: What a great approach to engaging with your community by creating content not focused on your games. I really feel you bring something unique that many other devs don't and I wish you that it reflects in your growth! PS: That final composition looks amazing and I love how you've shown both your inexperience and your astounding skills! That sound design was - ugh! - so _crispy_

Just so you guys know, this concept is pure gold. I was shocked to see there's only 3 of these, but I would happily watch these videos where it's just different projects and you guys are competing on to do the best with your own levels of experience. I would even suggest doing videos using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator. As someone actively learning about these softwares it was a really nice break to watch these types of videos because I got to learn how the experts did it differently but still relate with the newbie. If you keep this series going I guarantee you'll hit a million subscribers.

It's amazing how each of the three showcases exactly what they’re great at. The streamer makes me laugh and knows how to entertain in a lighthearted way (streamer = showman). The game dev gets technical, treating the whole animation like a ragdoll and approaching it as kinesiology, while the animator gives the character personality through its movement, even creating a visual narrative. Despite only one being an animator, they all highlight their best skills. It's fascinating, and I loved it!

All three demonstrated admirable traits, each in their own right, indicative of why they've seen success in their respective fields. Atrioc: Ability to maintain a humble and cheery attitude towards a hopeless task; not many have the character to direct and sustain the mood and attitude to be fun and entertaining like he has. Stephen: Wrestling with unbridled potential of what could be done yet not having the skill to realise it. Courage to invest time to learn and practice an unfamiliar craft yet still risk failure and poor results. Lana: Matured, seasoned skill. Being able to articulate the reasons behind why she does what she does indicates the years of dedication that've went into learning and honing the artistry of her craft.

I think it’s interesting how this shows the different perspectives/progressions learning how to do animation in general! The 10 minute guy is just having fun. He’s not worried about the technically of it all, he’s just having fun. The 10 day guy is following the basic rules and making it look more realistic (for lack of a better explanation) simply getting from point A to point B. Finally, the 10 year chick makes it follow some of those rules (A to B) while also having fun with it and making it stylized.

@@yoorface4680 but I find it hard to believe that her FIRST job was at Blizard and that Blizzard sayd okI will start my team with people with no experience at all... sounds like bullshit.

@@bandinopla Its normal for me. Some companies hires a newbies for specific purpose like learning they own programs/engines especially in game industry also they are cheaper than mid/senior and still can do the same light work. In some cases people even work for free for some experience or to make own CV. Its win-win situation, not to mention that 10 years ago when technology was not that advanced, animators and programmers even with no experience was nice to have. Look at World of warcraft, 2014 animations look really bad. Really. but that crap was made with new technologies and its was at that time "WOW ITS LOOK REAL!"

I love the stuff like the first guy cause it's just a dude having fun learning something new. Obviously the pro fuckin nailed it, but I love the free spirited 'fuck it' we go big with the first guy haha. Good stuff all around

I just got suggested this video by the KZbin algorithm (literally from a NERD song) so I have no idea who any of these people are lol but this was awesome! Entertaining enough to have a *first-time* viewer sit through a 20 minute video?! That's a gift - a shame to squander it by not continuing the series! But at least I can go watch the others for the first time now 😊
