True to a point. There are fair things to miss in the old games but as a whole the improvements are obviously great.
@tbc18803 жыл бұрын
@@SPZ-gv2on yeah there are a lot of cool improvements to the systems but it would be nice to see things go back to the simpler times without all the abilities and flashy techniques that gives a lot of damage and a few down, or try and rework underwater combat so people other than me can enjoy it. Would also be neat to cram more monsters with mechanics to abuse throughout the fight. But overall as a series monster hunter has changed well. Each generation has something new and continues to expand on things. The current Era post generations has seen a new set of gimmicks per game though wire bugs and clutch claw seem to be of a very similar brand though wire bugs seem to also take a bit from hunter arts. My guess is it's too easy to use them all. And hunts end up becoming very formulaic to get easy massive damage. World, start sling to make them look, clutch slam dps and then only concern is finding clutches mid hunt to soften and slam when they escape rage. Rise though I've been grinding the pc beta and haven't spoiled myself on it, seems to be very much focused on brining a monster to ride and beat up the target before riding that and either getting a 3rd monster or just slamming it until you wall break it. Along the way nabbing endemic life like toads and beetles to increase damage and make more opportunities. Fighting the flagship in the demo wasn't very hard (I used the gunlance where my only concern was stamina) and once I got the riding and pathing down it became rather easy. With 4 people the monster rarely gets to act. In 3u my favorite game the higher health pool and lack of a camp made every hit matter for tougher quests especially soloing online quests. Stuns and flinches are also harder to get and less rewarding generally. Which makes them all the more valuable. Guess what I'm trying to say is in 4u and 3u I felt I was fighting the monster. After that it becomes less and less that and more so do x steps for almost every hunt to get a nice chunk of damage to the point its now a detriment not to, and then fight the monster with all these other tools you got to stun them or increase damage to make it flinch and trip more. Though all this can just be me getting better that learning the monsters patterns and determining how to punish and get around attacks is step 1 and step 2 is to just win with all these extra tools and the monster being a small novel.
@SPZ-gv2on3 жыл бұрын
@@tbc1880 Rise is good but much too easy because of the mechanics. Every weapon outside of maybe gunlance feels overtuned in some way. My personal favorite game is GU because I think it has the right balance of flashy moves and legitimate strategy between arts and styles. I just starting playing through the ICE mod for world though and it's quickly becoming up there in my list though. Mostly just nerfed the broken things, fixed community complaints, and made clutch claw entirely optional so you can just fight things legit without it dragging on. It interests me to see where the series goes both officially and unofficially now. Also I agree on the no camps being a good thing. I feel like they were a nessesary evil in world because of the massive maps and a need for fast travel but it completely gets rid of the planning out inventory part that forced you to think in older games. Having to actually bring extra max potion mats if you plan on spamming them was more fair then farcasting for 2 more whenever.
@tbc18803 жыл бұрын
@Tnarg122333 the gunlance is still overturned imo. I'm a Funlance main and the one thing I want to do most is spam shells and not care about sharpness. The guard wirebug move is a godsend to free up guard skills if needed. From the pc demo the gunlance is fun but still has its one flaw of mobility and staying on ball in multi-player hunts. But yeah I agree overall. Especially on the camps thing, even if you wanted to use the bed that was your farcaster unless you brought mats for more or their was a EZ farcaster. Only thing I'd say is ammo for the bow. I'm not great with the bow in any game but 4u where I find them to be the most fun, not a fan of world changes, but coatings was always something I wish I had more for. Needing to bring combo books in addition to the supplies so I wouldn't end up wasting the 20 extra power coatings I can craft really made inventory management for the bow rough. I'd say a middle ground would be to make combo books something that you buy once and always have active and/or have a extra few slots in inventory for combining. Maybe let you put items in the field pouch in advance but these items can't be used from your bar but combined items go into the bar if there is space first. Regardless using all your items then farcasting to get all your items back and another farcaster isn't amazing. I guess the one good-side is forgetting items and wanting to not restart the quest for them. Maybe have someone who departs the quest after 5 minutes that you can access your item box from to change equipment and items but after that you are locked. Still that kinda thing isn't very common especially with item sets making it a 1-2 process to get your items all there and in the right order. Even to know if you are lacking some items too. I do play world on ps4 so I'll keep an eye out for rise mods like that when it comes out.

Here's some advice for Egg Delivery Quests. 1. Get a backpacking armor set. It may not be powerful, but it'll be helpful, especially for the 30-minute Forest and Hills quest. 2. For larger areas, definitely bring some dash and mega juices (yes the names were different back then) for desert and volcano quests. You will need to kill the Gypceros for some Power Extract for the Mega Juice. 3. Figure out what skills your Felynes have, and use them. You're gonna have to take notes.

Remember playing this with the boys back at school breaks. Game was so hard we barely passed HR 1. One of my friends downloaded a 100% save (Yuu char, anyone remembers? XD) and helped us out. The sword in the stone? Cried to kill my first Rathalos solo, cried even more when I saw the sword stats and cried a river to upgrade it (fuck you Monoblos and your rare item). At the time, not a single english guide was made and we all lived and studied in a international school at Japan, and the game (you guessed it) was all written in kanji. We were starting to learn the level N4 but the game said "Nope, you also going to suffer understanding this game". One neat little thing, you could download some very difficult quests through the psp internet, like kill Miraboreas. Overall we all raged but enjoyed the game, good times XD

You have no idea how much this sent me back dude. This was my first Monster Hunter game and I thought it was the shit at the time. Looking back not great at all but it still holds a place in my heart because without it I wouldn't be the mega fan I am now! Also the mention of "Four Horns in the gathering hall" had me laughing so hard because even in 2005 no one would do that with you. Nothing fucking changed. If you put up four horns everyone would leave your lobby guaranteed.

lol remember when gatherable spots weren't highlighted in any way whatsoever. You had to memorize how they look and have to come up to every blade of grass/plant that seems to be out of place and press the gather button. Oh and yeah there's no floating button prompts for them either.

I remember back in the I hated the plesioth quest because it would just jump back in the water and shoot me from there. Being the dumb kid I was at the time, I never realized you could bait him out, so I would just wait for a few minutes for him to jump back on land before wacking him with the greatsword.
