When I was studying abroad I absolutely avoided looking at clothing stores at all cost just because I knew for a fact even the “plus sized” clothing wouldn’t fit me in the slightest. I think the only thing that did fit me when I went shopping with a friend was a jacket intended to be oversized on the wearer, and I passed on it because it was like $150. I actually lost a fair bit of weight while I was there and I still wouldn’t have fit most of the clothes when I left. I’m glad they’ve gotten a bit more accessible since I was there, even if it’s for style purposes. Hopefully some of the style options will become more accessible eventually too.

Plus size in Japan isn't plus size and for anyone to expect it be like a US or UK plus size is just dumb, sorry 😅
@Silentgrace116 ай бұрын
@obiwanjabroniX: or, perhaps consider, sometimes people want to buy clothes that they can wear when they travel elsewhere, and that’s perfectly valid of them? 🙂 There’s a difference between being adamant that someone has to be accommodating to you, and simply wanting to be accommodated to. I did my due diligence and brought sufficient amount of clothes for the half year I was there, right down to bringing things I wouldn’t typically wear just in case I wanted some variety, and ensured I knew what websites I could order clothes from if something urgent happened. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to buy clothing when you visit a new place, and there’s especially nothing wrong with clothing stores recognizing a market for a specific size or style and accommodating to that. I would like to hope it helps make plus sized clothing more common place, and by extension seeing them around more regularly helps people be more accepting of those who wear them, whether for style or out of necessity.

Having a Cup E to F in Germany can also be difficult but makeable also for cute stuff. But when the wife of my brother came to visit us from peru she flew back with four new bras in her suitcase. She also told us that in peru it feels like all the cute bras are only for small sizes and especially if you have "the body of a mom" (as she called it) you will never find something sexy. It gives her and also me the feeling like in this size, age or moment of life you are not sexy and thats why there is no cute underwear needed or sold in stores -.-

I'm glad you have been able to find clothes to fit bigger sizes! Honestly, I gave up shopping years ago. I HAVE managed to find tops for myself, but I also don't dress up so much so I'm okay with wearing the shapeless clothes I have had for years haha. I have bought overseas everytime and I just never attempt to shop in Japan again. But you have given me some hope.

short stacks never have a an easy time shopping, not matter what country they are in, especially if you're a short stack with dangerous curves, and you should have a yellow caution sign.

Idk about dude sizes but I typically have this problem in plus sizes because my hip size is very large in comparison to my waist so if I want it to fit my ass I have to size up and then have all this flabby fabric around my waist 🙃 Fast fashion is not forgiving if you have "atypical" body proportions.

As someone who wears a smaller size, I clearly don't belong in Europe 😂 All the cute clothes are too big for me

^+^ There’s a place in Jujo on the street market that sells plus size bras at discount prices. I usually go there to get thermals and socks ^+^

I'm 4'10" 114 lbs and struggle to find pants etc. in the US even short sizes are too long. I always do my shopping in Japan when on vacation.

As a Japanese person who leans more “mid size” when taking JP sizes into consideration, I’ve figured there’s different “tiers” to plus size and average size. And this mainly from years of personal experiences from traveling to Japan a lot and shopping. The last year I went I wasn’t particularly healthy (barely exercised and ate more processed food at the time) I still somehow found clothes that fit me at those designer shops in Ginza. As along as it’s made from stretchy material and has elastic bands, I can usually fit *something*.

Friendly reminder to everyone: You're body is perfect the way that it is, there is no reason for you to try and fit beauty standards, and clothes should fit you not the other way around! ❤❤❤
