Best pokemon card selling video I've seen in months man! I've only been selling hit cards on eBay and TCG Player is my next journey. Your perspective and advice was solid man. I appreciate it. And you're not kidding about the time consumption of sorting. I work a full time job and have a family and I've been sorting to go Live on TCG player for the last 3 month and I've barely scratched the surface of my inventory. So golden advice on the amount of time it takes.

here is a couple tips Iv learned from selling on tcg for a few years now. Basic Index cards from the dollar store work great as divider’s, ya get like 300 for 1$ they also work great for hand written thank you cards for newer sellers fishing for positive feedback, this may take a few extra mins to hand write if ya have a bunch of orders but it helped me receive constant 5 star feedback and even had people specifically go outta there way to mention it in the review, when my TCG store was first getting started.. I got probly 5x the feedback when I would do this trick.

9:15 bro said lemme teach y'all how to inflate the market. Normally I attribute this typa behavior to what is wrong with the hobby/game. Yet, I can't help but be impressed with the quality of this video and how good you are at conveying information (as well as honest). Solid video I'm impressed. Regardless if you make this video or not as this market matures people will naturally come to these conclusions so it is nice to share your experiences. Thanks for the comment! I agree that being money focused in pokemon can be bad for the hobby, but as a business, these are the types of strategies you should be employing to maximize your efforts. I find that too many sellers look to just liquidate their cards and think they are turning a profit. I wanted that piece to be an educational experience where people can learn that there is value to being a good seller. Glad you saw it in a positive light! Thanks for the comment, and keep giving those well loved cards a home!

I've listed 11k and sold 5k+ cards on ebay only. My journey has been long and full of frustration along with amazing changes. For my magic cards I put the 3 letter set code on the top of the bcw divider. all tcg games are split by year. So magic / pokemon / yugioh are all split by card game than by year card released. Than set. Than alphabetically. I can pull 50x card orders in a few mins now. Vs would be 20min+. Doing the big brain work before you sort and list is such a big deal. Started out with just a deck box of cards. Than 2, 3, 5 til I got a 5 row bcw box. Than 2, now 5. But my tcg seller journey is at its end. Moving my focus into video games and getting ungated on amazon to do fba where my time and profit on avg is 100x a tcg sale order. Leaving all 4k cards listed til end of the year for that ebay feedback than bull sell all to the next guy.

Pokemon usually release 3 or 4 items a year that are the must haves and are worth buying and holding for a few years. CP6 and Mythical Collection has 10x for me, cash flow is the obvious issue here but after you've completed a 5 year cycle you should be able to start seeing great returns. This year I have my eye on SV2a (the english version of it too) and TCG Classic so far.
@TheLabTCG
@TheLabTCG Жыл бұрын
Yep, it is important to distinguish between cashflow and sealed product appreciation. I learned this early on trying to run this business. It is hard to hold onto sealed product with no way to continue financing the business. (Assuming no personal contributions). Great comment!

@NateSchneider7

The problem with doing that on tcgplayer is the option to optimize your cart after you’ve added all the cards. With higher prices and higher shipping you’ll probably lose out on sales that way

Sure, you could, but I would rather make more on a per item basis then spend a lot of time packing lower margin orders. Personal preference, but methods work.

I just registered for a TCG sellers account and about to start selling soon. I have a ton of supporter and trainer cards, do you think $.25 cards with $.99 shipping will sell even if I’m a new seller. You mentioned it works for you but you’ve already a solid seller rating.
@TheLabTCG
@TheLabTCG Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! It is unlikely that things will start selling with no feedback or sales history at a higher price. Your best bet is to look for cards that you have that are worth a little more and list those to start. That way, you can build up some sales history and get experience selling. Once you build up more inventory and sales, my method could work for you. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Good info here. Some things to consider. At $320 after fees does that also include what it cost to acquire the inventory? You also mentioned supplies. Ones that you mentioned which seem optional, but also things like envelopes, stamps, etc... should be accounted for. Mentioning you put in a bunch of time on weekends is a little vague. With out an exact number lets assume 8hrs/day over 8 days/month that's ~$5/hr. Again not including supply costs, inventory costs, and any extra time spent on this. Like going to the post office or doing any work during the week. I still think you are in the black which is good, I do value my time more than that. More power to you if you enjoy it and you got the time to kill. I saw you in the comments mentioning a 90 day follow up. It would be nice to include this missing info and a full breakdown of profits/time. Make sure to reinvest all your profits into side hustle.
@TheLabTCG
@TheLabTCG Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, going to quickly jot down some info. $324 before fees would not include the cost of inventory. I further break down the cost of inventory and the cost of shipping shortly after, but you are correct, it would be 324 - 18.55 - $4 to 8 shipping. For the cost, I averaged the 371 items sold at $.05 each which is likely overstating. For the shipping, I believe it came to around $7. For TCGPlayer direct, I use bubble mailers and team bags that cost me under a couple cents each. Didn't break out the full math step by step, but laid out those costs in the video. TCGPlayer direct comes with the advantage that you only need to ship large orders once instead of multiple envelopes and stamps. So that rolls into the $7 shipping. The time spent was vague, I don't record the time it takes me to do, but my weekend is primarily consumed by producing content, listing cards, researching, and actually selling the cards. It is going to take me more time on weekends to do this because I am still actively listing a large amount of inventory that will sell overtime. Many of the cards that are being listed did not sell in this time period, but I expect them to overtime. I've been doing this for quite a while, it is not a get rich quick scheme. It is something I enjoy doing, and it takes a lot of work. I think some of the things you mentioned are sprinkled throughout my other videos if you're interested. For the next video, I'll be more detailed.

Have to ask why you would sell that evolving skies case unless you have a good amount of them. That's going to be worth a lot more not that far down the line.

I've also sell bulk on eBay for about 2 months now. I'm still unsure which one is better. It's just the shipping on ebay kind of kills it for profits. 100 bulk cards profiting at $2.50 after fees and shipping. 200 bulk cards profiting at $9.00 after fees and shipping. So basically the more they buy from me the more the profit is. Once they buy more than 300 cards, it can no longer fit in a small flat rate box, so then shipping becomes like $13 at that point and I lose money again :/
@TheLabTCG
@TheLabTCG Жыл бұрын
It isn't easy, but it is totally possible to be profitable. In my opinion, the biggest upside to bulk is the availability of inventory that exists.

Personally as someone who orders a lot from tcgplayer and a long time tcgplayer subscriber I prefer to not order from direct every card I get from them has insane curling/warping idk if they store their cards in a super humid environment or what but it’s ridiculous.

This isnt a get rich quick scheme dude. The majority of ppl who watch this just want to get rid of their bulk,duplicates. And if you sort your bulk right away after you open a pack,bb etc. It takes minutes to post it on your site,ebay cardmarket,tcgplayer etc. I make each month about 300-500 euro from selling bulk on cardmarket and ebay and it takes maybe like 4 hours tops to pack,ship,talk to the person via mail and be done. Its a side income unless you have your own big lgs store you wont see much from it after all you need a distributor that will give you supply for msrp. That is the only way to see big$
