In my elementary and middle school, if you didn't have lunch and you didn't have money to buy the lunch there, they'd give you a chicken sandwich for free. not the most luxurious, but the notion is what counts i went to a private high school, though, and i don't know if they had anything similar

When I was a kid, most of the time my mom packed me my favorite sandwich, toasted bagel with cream cheese and salami. I still eat it today. I would ask the sandwich makers at my university to make me that sandwich almost everyday at lunch.

Cheddar and pepper jack cheese is an amazing combination. Yeah, I would have totally tried the same! Sadly our school didn't do grilled cheese and alphabet soup, the pinnacle of our hot lunches were mushy fishsticks and potatoes. Yes I know it sounds horrible but I don't know... I've never really liked crispy fishsticks and somehow, through some strange alchemy, sitting inside one of those steam heat boxes that is supposed to keep the food warm made these fishsticks taste HEAVENLY. Next on the list would be pasta with meat sauce, and that recipe was so tasty that I actually pestered the lunch lady until I got a copy, I still make it to this day.

Back in my elementary school, i hated how overpriced the bufe was, and so i bought the candy at some cheap chinese store, and started undercutting the prices of the bufe, it got popular to the point that when a teacher caught me, some would genuinly pay and take a snickers bar or something, this went on for about two three months, but then the boss of the bufe found out, and i got suspended (but i made like 200 bucks, so who really won at the end)

I remember getting my lunches at the lunch line when I was in elementary school. The lunches were good or okay, but I was just happy to get food to eat. I did drink 2-3 of those chocolate milk carton thingys 😅 But when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My mom will start packing my lunches so I will know how much insulin to give. She will write how many units to give on a piece of paper. I like the lunches my mom will pack for me. She will make me my favorite sandwich (turkey with lettuce, pickles and mustard) with chips, a fruit and a sweet treat. Or a lunchable. Or one of those frozen PB and J sandwiches or the one with the strawberry jelly instead of grape jelly.

I was homeschooled until my last couple years of highschool, but school lunches are still up for judgment at that age apparently XD I always brought leftovers from the night before or a sandwich I slapped together in a rush that morning, but it was usually leftovers. My family is full of cooks and we always love trying our hands at new cuisine from other cultures, so it practically became a pastime for my friends to see what I was eating every day and get a mini culinary/history lesson. They were always so disappointed in me whenever it was just a sandwich instead of something like tikka masala or szechuan chicken 🤣🤣

I used hot lunch tickets too but in my school they gave us ticket books for at least the first semester or the whole year and they had dates on them to make it more light and valid to get lunch if you dont have a ticket or its not the current date you dont get lunch they did that for until highschool i dont remember why they stopped I was a sophmore

I went to a gifted school as a kid and we could just. CHOSE a hot lunch or a second grade lunch. The second grade was like a vegetarian option and not lunch was like pizza, or pasta, and lasagna. It was rlly cool

This reminds me a lot of when I had a field trip and since I couldn’t bring a home lunch I had to take one of the brown bags lunches the school offered for those who didn’t bring lunch, unfortunately due to the thin paper bag my entire lunch got squished due to everyone’s giant lunch bags weighing on top of it, even worse it got lost temporarily and a teacher offered me one of his extra lunches they brought only for them to take it away from me mid eating and gave me my smashed lunch, to say I wasn’t embarrassed is a understatement…

My school Instead of tickets has cards and with those cards you're parents would put money and credit card information to the card so you pay to get lunch Also there were after school snacks like ice cream candy and even grilled cheese But after you run out of money you ask you're parents to refill it The best after school snacks are Fuze tea and milkshake and piroshki an Asian food with rice meat and carrots inside with a nice hollow bread dough cooked in a oven.

2:40 wait you are planning on doing it just once? You should make the quality better and exchange your tickets for real tickets wait they are signed by your parents. Make fake tickets and give them to your classmates. At some point the lunch ladies won’t tell the difference and you can get tickets easily. Make sure you don’t get caught tho and then you control the lunch time.
