They could just be speaking up for those who can't. Furthermore, just because someone has some form of access to youtube, doesn't mean that they have high speed internet that can download all of their college textbooks. I know from experience that youtube is one of the platforms that works best for slow connection speeds. It'll usually just buffer when the connection has problems, where other sites might just take one look at your connection speed and return an error.

They actually can be helpful, some have better contact with KZbin and have fixed problems with videos but they can be pretty bad. I believe the standard cut at one point is 10(mcn)/90, and might still be which isn't that bad, but they can screw KZbinrs over (penguinz0/cr1tical)
