I really love these videos but recently I’ve disliked how short they’ve been for the past few episodes :( I really enjoyed the longer episodes because it led to a better understanding to the field and Michelle’s experience, and the shorter ones just feel like career ads because of how quickly each segment goes by. The production value is still amazing, but the amount of content in such a small amount of time makes it feel empty. I just miss the longer episodes

I'm so happy you got to experience the Army life a bit. I was in for 10 years as an audiovisual combat photographer. I also went through airborne school at Ft. Benning and also was attached to the Golden Knights for their annual winter training. I made their annual winter training video back in 1998. But I got to get 3 tandem jumps with them, they are so awesome. So I'm glad you got to finally experience jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, nice job Michelle! Go Army!

Is there a reason these are so short/rushed? It seems BONKERS to put in that much time, effort, pain, weeks of prep, footage, etc etc and just condense it to 14 minutes. It feels so rapid-fire, like we barely even get settled in to the meat and pace of it all. Just racing through totally new faces, job titles, tasks, locations for just a line -- more like an intro video or trailer.
@Kaalyn_HOW
@Kaalyn_HOW 2 жыл бұрын
(I also feel like you used to take a long, thoughtful moment to really explore the hard, serious issues within each job you're "trying on" - bc you really want to do it justice and at least explain with words what you can't know with your body in just a week. I know you've done soooo many now that it might feel repetitive or like people "already know", but each one is definitely unique and I know folks often watch them in isolation. To see "their thing". But you are also so in tune with people that you find the unique threads in everything.)
@jadie4098

I think it's because statistically the algorithm favors videos less than 15/20 minutes and those are usually the ones with the most views. If it's too long a lot of people won't click on them, that's why a lot of the top KZbinrs seldom have more than 20 minute long videos

@@jadie4098 I'd agree, except her longer ones performed much better. 35-40m is an excellent set point to show her doing a challenge justice, give it the nuance she approaches them with and the careers possess, all without being longer than a TV episode.

Such as emt police firefighter etc. and this one was just a beautifully done as the others. I agree with the comments on this one, I would have loved to see more, maybe a longer cut. It's probably hard for the editor to take so many parts out and chop it down as well so maybe it would help both the editor and the audience. It's also the fact there's so much planning and work involved behind the scenes I think it deserves to get the most. Even if this ended up turning into like a two-part video I wouldn't mind.

There's lots of swearing, people being at odds with eachother (at eachothers throats) petty differences and impending constant soldier correcting by DS (drill sargents) they wear and tear you down by punishing you and everyone around you until you get the job done which is called negative re enforcement which is something anyone can subject themselves to without having to contract themselves into the military, which operates in a very socialistic way where they punish the whole group for ones mistake and reward the whole group for ones hard work while pretending to fight for freedom, (freedom to choose which fast food joint you wanna eat at) that's the idea of freedom not actual freedom, otherwise they wouldn't use a socialist model to train them, pretty ironic huh?

With your training in martial arts to act like Batman, as well as training to accurately act like other fictional characters, and your experience with what it's like to become part of the police, SWAT, FBI, and the military, you've become one of the most badass women I know, Michelle. Muggers in the streets better think twice before attacking you. I'd like it if you took a look at what it's like to be a fighter pilot or a Blue Angel. Hell, I'd really like it if you trained like John Wick. I'm looking forward to the day you might try out military hardware.

instructors are always gentle and calm when it comes to serious things they don’t want you to jump under stress because it just means trouble and potential injury shouting and harassment is more of a circus and a choreography to discipline “young soldiers” and make them serious Believe that you will not see the jump from the plane before the basic training is over, and then the harassment stops.

I was a Marine and while I was in college, my girlfriend went through Army Airborne School. On her first jump, because she was so tiny (4'10", 80 pounds) they had her lined up as the first jumper. When the green light came on, the jumpmaster said "Goodbye Smurf" and literally kicked her out of the plane. She ended up landing on someone else's canopy. While he was yelling at her to get off his canopy, she gathered hers (which had collapsed), threw it up and it (luckily) caught the breeze. She finished the jump unharmed.

OMFG the army is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more calm than the marines man. i am a kid, and i seen the marines video, u did the best u could, u gave it ur all, im proud of you. now that i see that the army is calm, i can proudly say that my grandma was in the army. i thought it would be at least really hard but she said it was easy. but sadly she passed a few months ago from cancer... hopefully when i grow up i can be in the army and join the army to thank her for her service as a veteran and i can honor her. hopefully she is looking down on me writing this comment. she would be proud of me. she would probably be proud of you too. keep up the good work!!!!! hopefully u is still alive when i grow up so ya know, u can see that my grandma and you inspired me to join the army when im an adult. and if u dont write back to this comment, thats fine. you dont have to. but im just saying, thank u for inspiring me, and thank you too grandma. i love ur videos Michelle, again, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SO THAT I CAN LOOK BACK ON THIS VIDEO AND THIS COMMENT AS AN ADULT TO BE INSPIRED TO JOIN!!!!

You know when something gets popular how people pick it up and come up with their spin-offs or versions or simply do the same. Do you know why there aren't 1000 more "i tried" videos out there? Because what you do is absolutely amazing and it takes so much strength and courage and training and devotion. So for that - thank you for that quality of content and good job once again.

Remember -- this video is sponsored by the Army. All the benefits they tell you like "I got two masters degrees" is pure propaganda Edit: to the people saying "it's not propaganda, I got a degree blah blah" clearly you didn't pay much attention during your classes because the point went entirely over your head. I didn't say it was impossible to get a degree in the military, I said that this video is propaganda. Some people don't make it out of the military alive. For those that do, many are left with permanent disabilities, PTSD, alcohol addiction, etc. Many American veterans don't receive adequate healthcare and more die from suicide than from combat. This video is propaganda because getting a degree in the military can have significant costs -- not with money, but with your mental and physical health, and maybe even your life. But they don't tell you that in a recruiting center now will they?

I appreciate that these videos need to be done under 30 minutes. However, the last few and this one seem kinda phoned in, or at least the editing makes it appear that way. It cuts off the emotional connection that the earlier Challenge Accepted videos really had. This one was a bit more "Cadet Kelly" and less facing something hard but conceivable and achievable. Its wonderful to show the positivity of that environment, but don't cut the dedication portions from it for that end.

While I do think it’s cool you get to do all the fun stuff, in order to “try the army” or any other military branch in general I think you would have to witness what it’s like to sacrifice your body mentally, physically, and spiritually. Think long hours and little pay. Think sexual harassment and and poor living conditions. The hardest part about the military isn’t Boot Camp. I would encourage you to use your platform not make it look like sunshine lollipops and rainbows and instead to explore the fundamental issues that nobody talks about within the military.
