This place is the Döner Mecca of Istanbul. There's just one tiny problem: it's a bit outside the city center. You'll spend an hour getting there. But hey, the service is super fast, and the döner arrives quickly. You eat it in about 15 minutes, then it's another hour back. So, that's 2 hours of travel for 15-20 minutes of eating. Also, many people criticize the lavaş (flatbread). Because the döner is quite fatty, bread might absorb the oil and juices better than flatbread. On the bright side, the fries are hand-cut, not the usual frozen kind you get at most places. As Mark mentioned, the place is usually very crowded and a bit noisy too. Just wanted to leave a few warnings for anyone planning to go. Thanks, Mark!
@fdama6 ай бұрын
The lavash bread is a good choice because it is thin. They want you to taste the Doner meat not the bread. It’s probably also why no sauces were offered. The taste of the meat should be primary. Thick bread and sauces would mask the flavour. The fries look exactly like the ones served in the UK with Fish & Chips.
@ahmetcemozen6 ай бұрын
@@fdama the juice and the fat drips in the wrap and you can not get the full experience. Bread absorbs the fat and you get the meat flavour directly.

This is probably one of the best döner places in Turkey. But the issue is that the prices went up astronomically, while the portions shrank faster than my thingy in a freezing cold shower. As of today (July 3rd, 2024), 110 grams of döner costs about 12 USD, which is RIDICULOUSLY expensive for Turkey.

Dear Mark Wiens Although i do not like the İstanbul version of the Doner Kebap, Bayramoglu is the Best in İstanbul. In Turkey Doner is the Best eaten in cities like Ankara, Bursa, Samsun, Erzurum etc. ussually in the Anatolian Side of Turkey but not in İstanbul. I think the Doner in Istanbul is usually dry. Btw, for your information the sauce they put on your Salad was Pomegranate Molasses not thickened Balsamic. In Turkey we don't use much balsamic oil in Salads.
@MarkAbroad6 ай бұрын
Thank you very much, ok thanks for letting me know about the pomegranate molasses - I didn't think it was that because it wasn't sweet, like most the time pomegranate molasses can be. But probably because it was thickened. Thanks!
