You're undoubtedly right in sharing your frustration and disappointment, especially after having spent $180 US plus tax for this. So the really cool thing about Logitech software, is that the new control panel doesn't support older devices, which means you need to have the old Logitech control panel installed for those devices. Sounds like a minor inconvenience? Well, you can't have both installed at the same time. You get to choose either the newer devices, *or* the old ones. So if you have an old racing wheel and a new mouse, you're SOL.

Try the Razer Basilisk V3. It has an infinite scroll wheel, but you can click a button just below it to switch to clicky scrolling. I know some Logitech have that too, but I use middle click all the time, so I can't stand the type that switches scroll modes with middle click. My favorite part though is that it has a smart mode where the scroll wheel is clicky until you try to scroll extra fast and then it automatically switches to infinite scroll until you stop it or it loses momentum, then it goes back to clicky. So nice, especially for like video editing and scrolling through long pages.

@@strayiggytv Tbh the "nameless chinese products" pretty much caught up with the big boys now when it comes to the mice. And they evolve much much faster than the dinosaurs like Logitech and Razer. The issue with a big company doing mechanical keyboards that are good enough for enthusiast is repair/replacement costs. The “standard” hot swap system is great, but it is something that is hard to “automate” to mass produce and they are prone to ma factoring errors where the socket is not 100% aligned and so they pop off when the user installs a switch….meaning they face a choice to either have a generous refund policy or to have angry customers. It just makes sense to try to come up with a “new and innovative” switch system. What I’m getting at…they just won’t be able to make something that is cheap enough to hit the “mass market” represented by people who want a good keyboard for gaming but has the quality expected by a keyboard enthusiast.

They can't really wrap their corporate mainstream brains and processes around super niche wants and needs because everything kind of has to fit into their top-down approval process. At most people understand the actuation distance and force and just rely on that spec sheet. In reality, a keyboard is much more than that, in fact, I'd argue that it's primarily NOT that.

Razer has some mice with the infinite scroll now too. Just thought I'd leave that here for anyone that wants options lol. (It's a little different not being on a bearing but using some fero fluid tech instead, but it feels and functions similar enough)

I have in front of me a 60% mechanical keyboard, made with premium materials, replaceable optical switches, configurable layout, spare keycaps in the box c/w keycap puller, switch puller and spare switches. It's Bluetooth (three different devices) and USB C. The keycaps are double shot and high quality. Nice configurable RGB and also features customisable macro's etc via free app included. Switchable between Windows and macOS configurations (with corresponding keycaps, i.e 'Option' instead of 'Alt' etc) Oh and it was twenty quid on Amazon.

As someone who bought the G910 tkl wireless - and loved it - having since then delved deeper into the custom keybaord era and areas - I have seen the glaring disparity on quality that logitech has taken. The rattley keycaps - when I got it i was placebo'd into it because of the price I was paying and the combo that I got. I have since moved on from it (which i feel really ashamed to admit because I did love the keyboard initially, the low profile keys, wireless that never failed and the layout and tactile style of it) and then - Ive found myself ive bought 4 boards since, a mix of custom and prebuilt with different styles etc (switches, build material etc) PS - wish I had kept my previous boards for your Boardwalk - traded them into my local cash converters cus i needed stuff to fund - oh well there go the Steelseries and Corsair keyboards I had laying around as 'spares' hehheh..ahhaah...hahaha...spares....keybaords...hahahah

I've tried optical switches and currently use them on my daily driver (Hunstman Tournament Edition), but they took so much getting used to. Took me a few months to really get used to the actuation points especially since it actuates BEFORE the click... it doesn't have the same forced feedback as your standard set. However I think some of these companies are marketing optical as 'gamer' due to how highly sensitive they can end up being, and that is such a bad reason to give it the 'gamer' tag. It kind of makes the keyboard harder to really use (esp if you need to smash a key) until you get used to the very sensitive and rather high actuation point (it's way further up then you'd think so spamming the key like a normal switch does nothing as it thinks you've still depressed the key). I can only assume this has similar flaws, and pair that with the price tag and cheap materials? Yikes.... I think mine was closer to $80 at the time. I can see why everyone is calling it a scam. Logitech really messed up here. Not to mention proprietary switches for that cost? Insane.

I rest my left 5, 4, and 3 fingers on the side case when I'm typing or coding. I hover over ESC and ALT-TAB. Without resting on the side, hovering would wear the hand out quicker. I suppose it might be the same for navigating the game UI.

I have a Logitech keyboard+touchpad thingy that I'm pretty happy with. Not because it's good (it's not), but because it's super cheap, has amazing battery life, is nearly indestructible (since there's almost nothing inside), and there's literally nothing else on the market in its niche. But if I want to actually _type_ more than a couple words, I grab something else. The Logitech is only used for launching videos on the living room television.

Hypio, I beg you! Please review the AttackShark K85, it's a budget hall effect keyboard with a ton of "stock mods", this thing is insanely good, it frigging thocks! It has factory lubed switches and stabilizers, and there is very little stem wiggle(to me at least), and the best of all: the stabs, brooo the stabs are something else, no rattle, at all, this thing is solid! Specs: 80% ANSI layout(sadness for me that uses ISO derived layouts) PC plate Silicone Gaskets(superb performance btw) KNOB North facing RGB LEDs, big sad(specially because it uses double shot PBT with not shine-through) Please review it, it's great for the price!(best bang for buck I have seen) Love, bye!

I just gave them $225 for a G915 that came with a cheap cable, crappy instructions on a small square of toilet paper, and found out they removed the numlock indicator to replace it with a battery light so they could use the same boards as their wired counterparts. Hippo, if you didn't know, logitech has many mice that feature the infinite scroll wheel(I too find this feature a must have) such as the MX master 3 and the MX anywhere 2 and/or 3 and the the non-gaming 502 and/or 501 mouse plus several others. Personally I love the same mouse you have in this video but my personal favorite is the MX master 3s or whatever the silent edition version is called. The mouse click is completely silent which i find really nice plus its a bonus to have in a work environment. I feel the only thing its missing is a small rgb accent added to it such as an underglow feature, that would be absolutely stunning imo.

I basically know nothing about keyboards, but at least i know that a clear key, is going to have a massive hot spot, just make it frosted and be done with it. Heck i got these keycaps for my logitech G610 called 'blue pudding' i had no idea what that meant but they look great on this keyboard, except most of the non letter/number keys wouldnt fit so i had a mix of blue keycaps with whilte fog bases, surrounded by black keycaps with terrible hot spots on the font. for things like enter, shift, alt and space.

Thanks for this video. I thought that looked cheap from the first time I saw it. Thanks for proving my hunch right! I gave up on Logitech when my 5, and 6 numpad lights died. Lost the color green. On my G815 keyboard. I contacted them about it, and they said that since it was out of warrenty there was nothing they could, or cared, to try to do. Since it was just 'buy a new keyboard or else' from them, I went and bought a Steelseries Apex 3 TKL, and love it. Wish you could review one of these too. =) I like your vids. I also dropped the logitech mouse, and got a razor. Still has the rgb I love.

My dad had myme pick something for black friday last year for my birthday, and although I pucked the razer huntsman optical instead of analog, it's still very great* (besides the software on my 12 year old pc), the design was subtle with the name across the bottom, freely changeable lighting, binding and performance despite the awkward price, and the addition of swapping switches if I really wished. Logitech's board feels like a direct copy of analog board, but being nearly worse then one even I own. I think the main benefit of this would be how compact it is with the side wheels in addition to good lighting and maybe ok response times (though wired) or click feel, but still it feels like a dated keyboard releasing in the current era. My assumption is that they had ideas of releasing and 60% but forgot years ago and are just trying to compete with the better more sophisticated brands. I'm still convinced that they only knew what they were doing years ago when making stuff like the g502 and other peripherals back then. In fact their bigger older boards are prob cheaper and give better performance for the price.

Despite taking a while to implement USB C onto their flagship, hid 4k Polling until a year into the products lifecycle, and put probably the most horrendous PTFE skates I have ever felt onto a mouse.

One of the reasons ive stopped buying new logitech hardware is because of the unending bugs I kept running into with their current main software. I had the low-tier Logitech mechanical keyboard, K845. It's a soldered board and it lasted about 8 months before the switch on the D key started to go bad. Imagine having to throw a mechanical keyboard in the trash after less than a year. I've literally never owned a keyboard that I got rid of because it's stopped working... And I still have keyboards which are 10+ years old. Btw, I also had to get rid of my original G502 because the right click went bad and wouldn't let me hold it down. The G502X fixed that though with optical switches, so that's what I've got now. Seriously though, everything from Logitech used to be TANKY. I still have a set of Logitech X-540 speakers which are 18 years old! and of course they still work like new. It sucks what's happened to the brand
