What's truly sad is that there are people going to buy this, like most of the Higherground boards for WAY too much money. IMHO this board would make me less productive personally. To be honest, maybe it's just me, but I was turned off by the light blue keycaps with the white lettering. I can see the lettering on the other keys fine, but it's basically invisible on the light blue keycaps. Maybe it looks different in person, but that's a major turnoff. And the internal weight is just hilarious. I can see that being justified by, "Well, it's for ergonomics so that the board doesn't slide around", but for $160, you could accomplish the same thing by giving it a metal frame.

As you so correctly point out the primary audience for this keyboard is not people like yourself, keyboard enthusiasts or afficionados, but rather a segment who generally know little about keyboards as a whole. For them "tactile" doesn't have any bearing in the sense it does for you, it's not a way to describe the function of the underlying switch below the keycap, but rather it is something that is connected with the sense of touch. This is something which holds true for all keyboards, whether they are mechanical, membrane, or even micro switches or dome switches, it's all tactile. A touch keyboard, or an on screen keyboard on a phone or a tablet, is not a tactile experience though. So his marketing material, at least in this aspect, is spot on, just not for you. This is the problem with terms which means different things in different contexts. For instance, I have worked as an interaction designer specialized in tactile experiences, I have never once designed a keyboard. Tactility is an extreremly broad field. Thanks for your videos Hipyo, they informed me a lot when I bought my first proper modern mechanical keyboard, though the experience of trying to find good keyboards with an ISO layout is an absolute nightmare. Have you had any thoughts about making a video about ISO layouts and the best keyboards in various budget segments? I ended up going with the Keychron K10, as it was one of the very few full size keyboards with an ISO layout, that also had bluetooth and hotswap, that I could find.

Just realised i made so many keyboards in my quest for the perfect keyb that i can't remember which one i used... Damn you, Hippyo, and your vids getting me into this!) Anyway, there's something nommy to me about that click-thock, so if he's talking about switches i can understand what he means (it's still a warcrime during game sessions using VOIP, but my work productivity has increased dramatically) Edit: I just got to the switch part. *LINEARS*!?! In my opinion, the video comes across as "populist" and "sensationalist" because it exaggerates the keyboard's flaws early on, even though the creator later admits that the product isn't that bad. This inconsistency undermines the critique and mirrors the very marketing tactics being criticized when he claims Ali exaggerated the keyboard's marketing. Additionally, the video seems to be leveraging Ali Abdaal's audience for views, which seems hypocritical given his critique of Ali for using his own audience. Lastly, considering the channel's size, the production quality-script, editing, etc.-doesn't meet the expectations I have for a KZbinr of this size.@@hypr7213

He said he spent 12 - 18 months building the BRAND; you know, the important thing. Who gives a hoot if it's a good product? As long as you're fine swindling your followers, the product will sell with a good brand !

When he says "tactile" he means because it's touch sensory. Which is what tactile means. So anything that you feel is tactile. So yes given keyboard lexicon tactile means something specific, in general tactile just means touch sensory.

How is it "productivity" when you don't have a Function Row, Numpad, and maybe even a volume knob?

I've been enjoying the keyboard content, but also Hipyo is a man that looks exactly like a guy that would review keyboards (complimentary). As a man who also looks like I should review something niche, I feel seen.

Imagine being a productivity guru and then wasting 12 months designing a sub-par keyboard when there are already so many amazing and affordable options on the market.

I use a 31 year old IBM Model M keyboard with catastrophic buckling mechanisms on my current machine, and it's awe-some -- types so fast. This video reminded me of the design because IBM added weights to that keyboard at the time, and my own keyboard weighs about 4.5 pounds. I do have a second keyboard at the ready, though, because although I'm pretty in love with the Model M, it's really really noisy, and I can't really use it if I'm in a meeting or on the phone. Anyway, thanks for the great videos!

Tbh this might boost the productivity of his audience. They’re not keyboard enthusiasts and they might well be typing on a cheap membrane where the comma key doesn’t work

the reason why he said 12 months and 18 months is because the 18 months he said tech AND productivity brands but for the 12 months he only said he has been building up the TECH brand not both

Keep in mind that the 18 (or 12 months) were for "building the brand", not designing the keyboard. Which probably took like 19 minutes.

GMK67, Gateron V3 Red switches, PBT keycaps, all from Aliexpress for 80$, shipping included and I got everything in 7-10 days. I even got a knob to boot. That 160$ is indeed "fine" but I can do just as good if not better at half the price.... so yeah... feels exceptionally scummy here...

One thing that also really annoys me, as someone from Norway, is that he is using the letter Ø because he thinks it's fancy, he completely changed the company name with using the letter Ø.

I just wanna put this out there. That when companies use ø instead of o, it is very confusing for me to read as a Norwegian. I know it's mode, but my brain reads møde, I know it's rode, but my brain reads røde... Worldwide it doesn't matter but for someone who uses ø on a daily basis it is very distracting even though the slash is in the wrong direction here

I've never heard of this guy before and the second you said "he sells courses" I'm glad I never did. It's a classic scam; buy a course or seminar to learn how the host made all his money, completely glossing over the fact that *you just gave him the money.* Also, anyone with half a brain knows that a truly "productive" keyboard is whatever the user is comfortable with which meets their needs; doesn't matter if its a Dell membrane from 2002 or a brand new Model F77.
