It's looking amazing so far. I've wanted a motion sim for YEARS and was ready to pull the trigger on the Yaw 1 until I saw your video a few months ago. Just like Hanys above I was F5ing like a lunatic and managed to get myself a Super Early Bird pledge then added the Pro versions of the Yaw 2 and Yaw Platform plus the seat later on. I too would have missed out on this if it wasn't for your earlier video so thanks a lot! :oD

What I really want to know is, how high was the seat part from the ground? I would also like to see how high it is from the ground without the yaw platform. This looks really compelling... They seem to have done a great job with it. Personally I would get it because it can also double as a work environment. I often want to lean back, with my feet up, and work at my desk... But this is not really possible with most desk setups. So this ability to do so with the Yaw makes for a very interesting proposition as not just a gaming chair, but also a work setup.

@TheJAMF3 жыл бұрын
9:40 They might be heavy for the Yaw, but they are not heavy as wheels go. About 5.5kg for wheel & pedals? Compare that to the Fanatec DD base (14kg), a wheel rim starting at 2kg and 8kg for the V3 pedals... 24kg is 4x the weight. And that's without an H-pattern shifter or hand brake. 😊
@Leynad7783 жыл бұрын
Never buy this for racing sims anyway😉
@TheJAMF3 жыл бұрын
@@Leynad778 multi purpose, so some simulated motion for racing is OK. But yeah, for racing you want jolts and "rear traction loss" mostly, pitch and heave secondary, roll and yaw third.
@Leynad7783 жыл бұрын
@@TheJAMF First you want loadcell brakes for Sim Racing and this construction doesn't look like it can cope with them. And for motion you want something quicker with less movement. I've a GS-5 G-Seat with G-Belt plus tactile feedback and it's awesome. Otherwise I would recommend the Simrig SR1 and 2 or better. DOF-Reality have some cheaper motion setups, but they also lagging a bit. This concept here is better suited for flight sims.

This may already be the case but I hope in the future that all games that are Motion Sim friendly begin to output true force telemetry so that products like this will be able to handle the forces applied to the player correctly. Cruising in an airplane turning left should tilt the chair left to simulate the drag of gravity downwards but when driving a fast race car and heading into a left turn the chair should be tilted right to simulate centripetal forces pushing the player to the right for the force to feel real and give a true sens of speed. Its all about force. Not direction. Games may already be doing this but a system like this needs this to be comfortable. If not you well get hit by serious vertigo very quickly.

This looks especially good for flight or space sims since not having yaw is the biggest factor in emersion loss. Even giant commercial sims that dont have yaw have to do a weird flip once you do a full loop. I had the YAW 1 - and it was garbage. Pay attention to these REVIEW videos. When you hear someone say - IT'S SUPER FANTASTIC - then take aware. I don't know how YAW convinced all these people to do reviews of their chairs but I'm guessing there was payment involved. Pay close attention to the review and do your in depth investigation of the seat. My experience with Yaw [1] was terrible and the seat continually broke and in the end I had to scrap it. I was getting ready to buy the H6 (6DOF sim) from dofreality, but the price has shot up to $4,600 + shipping and what not. Likely due to the pandemic. This at the kickstarter prices this is very, very tempting. That said, dofreality has a 3DOF unit, the H3 which has a base price of $2,100 + $500 shipping to the US. It is 3DOF + traction loss. You don't get 360 yaw. I'm going to bet the H3 is better overall for simming than the Yaw 2. I'd love to see a comparison. One great thing about the H3 is that there is an upgrade path to the H6. Of course by the time you see a comparison, the kickstarter will be over and I'm pretty sure the Yaw 2 price will go up. Really great that they ditched the Disney teacup design. =D
