I tried to beat Devil May Cry 3 without using weapons...

Is it possible to beat Devil May Cry 3 without ever using a single weapon?
For quick reference on the rules of the challenge:
-No Melee Weapons and no Gun usage on enemies or environmental puzzles
-DMD Difficulty
-No Items
-No Gold Orbs
-No Super Costumes
Kicks from throwing Rebellion were used, but hitting enemies with the thrown sword was strictly forbidden. Vortex and Air Raid were used while in Devil Trigger. Royal Guard/Release were used. And finally, Devil Trigger explosion was heavily utilized.

At last! Another worthy challenger of the DMC3 No Weapons attempt! The editing, jokes, and information really made my day, and I could thank DTE for it's purpose as a last-ditch effort during the usual Dante Must Die runs. Entering the pause menu before resuming and taunting helps regenerate the DT Meter without white orbs as well. The atomic blast after charging DT was satisfying, and provided extra Style Points(at an SSS rank) with the demons dropping like flies in front of you. DTE is that useful, so stop acting like a chickenshit, and keep pulling your Devil Trigger Explosion!

Dante absorbs the demonic energy of the devil arm he has equipped when he enters devil trigger state, that's why he has a slightly different form with each one. So when you enter DT, you're technically using weapons.

It was too risky. If I messed up even once and swung the sword instead of the kick then that would be a reset back to the last checkpoint

I knew this was likely plausible due to a save corruption glitch tied to the switch version's multiplayer bloody palace. Basically on v 1.0 swapping controllers in the main switch version caused some serious corruption issues, particularly, it took away all of dante's animations. _and his weapons_ And before you ask, no loading up a new save doesn't fix it. In fact the only true way to save it was to go back to specific missions and pick them up _manually_ this essentially means rebellion and ebony+ivory were just straight up unusable anymore

In the arkham fight, you can control vergil with a second controller. Perhaps you could've done that and it would still count?

I baited him up there. Standing on that ledge yourself, they try to jump at you. The more difficult part was hoping another one of the enemies was in the right place for the zip angle to actually work.

I don't understand this trend of "can you beat the game using this thing" If something deals damage, theoretically you can beat the game with it and nothing else, so the answer is typically yes. Now that being within your skill ceiling is a different question, but unless something is immune to the element that you're using, for which there are usually exceptions made, then yes you can beat the game with it

That isn't always the case. When doing these kinds of runs you encounter things either 1. not normally seen in casual play that could impede you or 2. things you didnt even realize would be an issue until you get there under the restrictions. To add to that, in my runs specifically I like to incorporate the environment into the equation as well. Sure, royal guard can damage enemies so theoretically the run is possible if you just look at the encounters. But I also made myself figure out ways to deal with the spinning wheels, dangling speres and room specific puzzles without using weapons. You learn what works and what doesnt, and the answer isnt always what you might expect.
