I Tried to Beat Lies of P as a Master Chef and the Results Surprised Me (NG+ Fresh Start)

A themed Lies of P NG+ fresh start challenge run using the Chef's knife, Black Steel Cutter, Frozen Feast, Flamberge legion arm and fire buffs/consumables. Unfortunately right before patch 1.3 came out which among other things buffed the chef's blade by a substantial amount.

The flame arm is actually ridiculously good. It van put a flame dot on most enemies quickly and the final upgrades explosion has massive stager.

Would love to see you do a no leveling run. It’s def rough. But if you want to learn the movesets really well I recommend doing a parry and stagger attack/fatal attack only run. I did both and I’ll say I def had to learn the movesets a lot more in parry and stagger/fatal attacks only

On my first run i loved using frozen feast and doing half health in 5 seconds like against simon manus i literally skipped first phase a very fun weapon for someone who doesn't use str weapons to much. But anyway great vid looking forward to more lies o p vids

They changed a bunch of things. Rising dodge is now part of your regular moveset and several weapons have been buffed (including the chef's knife and black blade cutter... after I was done with them... so... that's pretty damn typical)

I just finished a NewGame+ run for the Platinum and man, it's hard XD I did it with Nameless Puppet's weapon which has average speed but good damage, can't imagine doing it with a slower weapon Some bosses later in the game (Laxasia or Nameless Puppet for instance) legit have moves that can just oneshot you on NG+

Hey so, last comment I'll make on this video, but regarding your sl10 run, why not make it a sekiro based run, focus solely on perfect deflects, use the katana, carry sawblades and gears as shurikens, im sure you can add other elements to the challenge.

I'd suggest a run with a randomizer that changes your weapon and handle combination with every enemy slain. That would let you actually showcase the different weapons while still being a challenge run. Maybe it also changes the weapons whenever you get hit? That would create some tension with trying not to get hit so that you dont get switched away from the weapon you've spent upgrade materials on while fighting a boss..

For Laxasia's lightning crash, the best way I've found to counter it is to stand on/near the end of the small pile of rubble near the middle of the bridge. That way, her tell is more obvious. The tell is that she moves a short distance towards you twice very quickly before actually crashing down and you have to block immediately after the second movement. Also yeah, the reason that one charged R2 didn't stagger the Nameless Puppet is because you cannot stagger a boss while they're performing a transitional animation. The same deal with how you can't stagger the Parade Master when he's transitioning into second phase, each weapon transformation of the puppet is a transitional animation.

I just checked and you're wrong. She doesn't move forward or change location at all. She slightly pulls in her leg before she dashes towards you. Which is frustratingly hard to see btw

@@PressContinue I fought her the day before yesterday countless times in my level 10 run and every time I timed my counter with the movement of my lockon symbol, which dipped for a split second before she crashed down. It always works for me and It's really obvious for me from the rubble pile, so maybe you just didn't notice it?

I think the issue is trying to put a visual indication into words. Because I don't think I understand what you mean. And there's rubble all over the bridge so I also don't know what counts of "the" rubble pile

@@PressContinue Oh that makes sense. Well when you walk through the fog door, you walk along the dark brick path in the middle of the bridge until you're standing on the broken pathway. That spot where the intact brick path meets the broken path is where I usually stand. And what I mean by her tell is that after she's done firing off all of her lightning, right before she crashes down on top of you, she moves forward a tiny bit and it's more obvious if you're closer because of how the camera moves when locked on.

I don't know if someone has commented this before but fun fact: When your durability is depleted by Decay, it doesn't actually break it. It just puts it in a spot of either 1 or zero durability. So had you actually hit the boss one more time while your weapon was in that state, it would've actually broken.

Enemies suddenly cancelling their stagger state because of a phase transition is my only gripe with the game yet. Especially the puppet king would be staggerable the exact moment he did the little cry/flail move almost every time. Also wth, did Miyazaki sneak into Korea at night and program in a poison swamp?

Er... dude... I am using them??? Sure I am careful when I use them and when to save them especially because they're charging my watchman amulet. But there are multiple times where I even explicitly mention them like the storm slash when when an enemy is stunned, the slow slash of the frozen feast for hyperarmor.

Usually for me only the second brother has come out at that point and the last one comes out when the eldest is at 1/4 health.

I hear that the biggest lie in Lies of P is that you're playing as Pinocchio when it's actually the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz since he's on the quest for a heart and Pinocchio is never actually mentioned by name. @@PressContinue I mean, spoiler warning for people keeping eyes on reply threads and all for anyone who hasn't seen the end of the game, but we do get a glimpse of someone with certain red-gemstone-color footwear clicking their heels together that either hints at a sequel or at our otherwise nameless automaton's true identity, if not both. If it's a sequel, I'm sure the Tin Man will play a central role to it either way. Even if our plucky protagonist of P doesn't have skin of tin to go with his heart of quartz and...whatever else that thing's made of, you wouldn't have to axe me twice if it was still a good enough axe-cuse to do a Tin Man run and focus on axes.

I'm not sure if that even exists anymore after the recent update. In fact some really effective new weapon combination do consists of (on paper) slow big weapon handles with seemingly incompatible damage blades. But since the blade determines the attack speed, those suddenly are unexpectedly effective. Like the rapier blade or tyrant dagger blade on the explosive pickaxe handle

@@PressContinue Alright I checked: weapon blade values were changed (not only damage, but poise damage too) BUT the damage type debuff still stands: if you thrust with a non thrusting weapon (or viceversa) you only do 67% of the damage you should do (one third less damage). It's interesting info for a challenge runner like you
