I find it helps alot with waking up to go to bed and wake up at at consistent times (taking into consideration that average time it takes to complete a sleep cycle - 90 min - so sleeping for 6, 7.5 or 9 hours) I find that when I do that my body naturally wakes up, feels more well rested and I don't need an alarm. Not that it's easy though...

Great tip! Good to know is that to get there, consistently getting up at the same time is the first step. Getting to sleep at the same time doesn't necessarily work that well, since if your body is used to sleeping late it won't let you fall asleep when you want to. The first week you'll be tired, but quickly your body will be able to sleep at the time you want to

i find it really interesting how you discuss struggling with control! when i was going through the process of getting my autism diagnosis, one of the things we talked about was my strong sense of control and needing to constantly be in control and the way that i very clearly displayed that throughout my life was through the sims. it is so comforting to me to know i'm not the only autistic girlie out there who satisfies that need for control through the sims 😭

One thing that helped me with waking up early to an alarm was to choose a cheerful/soft one that isn't set too loud and is much nicer to wake up to, compared to the loud af ones that are like BAARRP BAARP BAARP BAARP (HATE those). Experiment with the volume as well and see how low you can have it and still wake up. It always sucks to wake up at a certain time but it's definitely easier when its a bit more gentle and doesn't jump scare you awake.

This is what works for me! I have crazy alarm times (ex. 6:53, 7:27) to allot myself a few minutes between waking up and physically getting out of bed. 5 minutes is too long to where I won’t want to get out of bed, so I give myself 2-4 minutes depending on how groggy I think I’ll be

Came up with a wee rhyme to help me change my sleep patterns: 'Adjust exercise, then the time you arise.' I added activity to my days, then by the end of the day I was tired naturally, and as I started falling asleep earlier, I woke up earlier. Also have more energy from exercising! I got an alarm off Amazon that mimics sunrise and plays bird calls, and placed it so I need to get out of bed to turn it off. I only turn on gentle lights when I wake up as well. My kitty takes me for walks first thing, too, so if I sleep through, I might wake up to a fuzzy face peering into mine, or be nuzzled awake! 😻

10:13 - Honestly, the time in my life when I was physically and mentally the healthiest I've ever been was when I was between semesters in college and wasn't working and I just stayed up all night/morning and slept through the day. I would got to bed around noon and wake up around 5pm naturally feeling absolutely refreshed for the first time in my entire life. If the world weren't so day-centric I seriously think those of us who are meant to be awake at night would be so much happier.

Tiling can be *so much fun* AND such hell - especially if you're on the spectrum, getting the tiles all perfectly aligned and straight is both deeply satisfying and absolute torturous hell. I helped my dad tile a bathroom as a kid. He ran and still runs building firms but still does work himself by request or for friends, and tiling is the worst because he gets SO meticulous about it. So of course all clients insist he does it even though it takes much longer - and he's in there having panic attacks over the one slightly skewed tile noone else will EVER notice. xD Poor man. I had to come confirm it was "passable" when he was in a rush to lay some flagstone because a worker was sick. Every other frickin sidewalk in the area looked crooked afterwards.

I though of a way EA could refresh the beds. I like the way the beds are handled in TS2 and thought maybe the game could do it that way, but then I got in idea. I have seen some custom content creators separate the mattress from the bed frame. They could have mattresses, A, B and C. Mattress A could be upgraded, but it would not be as comfortable as B, while B could be upgraded, but it would not be as comfortable as C, and C could be upgraded and that would be max comfort. There would be single and double bed versions. The single bed mattresses would have all the single bed bedding available across all single beds and the double bed mattresses would have all the double bed bedding available across all double beds. The bedding that just appears for single beds could finally get a double bed version and the bedding that just appears for doubles beds could finally get a single bed version. The game could have mattress A be free while the other two, B and C, could be a set prices, or unlocked when you reach certain levels of the handiness skill. As for toddler beds, there would be one mattress, it would have all the bedding available across all toddler beds and would be free.

We sound very similar in being very efficient at night, hating falling asleep and waking up. I have to be medicated to sleep or I don’t but I swear when 10pm hits it’s like someone gave me adrenaline, I suddenly want to clean my whole house and do everything I put off earlier in the day. I won’t sleep at night without meds at all, it’s kind of a problem. Anyways, the only thing I found to wake me up pleasantly without making me sensitive to the stereotypical alarm sound-I still cringe when I hear it on tv shows-is this alarm clock that mimics the sunrise to wake you up. A lot of what our natural wake up needs is sunlight especially people who have their circadian rhythm off. The alarm clock is half of a bulb on top with the time and buttons on the bottom and it slowly gets brighter from one time till the time you want to get up. Instead of jarring you awake it slowly brings you back nicely so you don’t get that annoying jerk reaction when you were sleeping really well. If you google sunrise alarm clock there’s a few variations but I’m sure most of them do the same thing. When I use it it’s the only time in my entire life that I’ve woken up pleasantly cuz I am NOT a morning person and am perfectly happy staying up all night and sleeping all day but like you said, it’s not very realistic in this world lol.

This is what I do for alarm and it’s great. Only works if you have a carpet next to your bed though. Pick the most gentle alarm sound that comes with your phone and have it at lowest setting and make sure the phone vibrates. Then leave it on the carpet by your bed. That will muffle the vibration and sound enough to not startle you awake but still wake you up gently. It’s 10/10 and you dont need to buy anything

You can both be a morning person and stay awake till late at night if you want, all you have to do is take a 4 hour nap in the middle of the day, you'll wake refreshed and still have the night to enjoy

Funny that Jesse deleted the window for better feng shui but having a bed facing a door also bad feng shui 😂😅

The sleep stuff I suffer with too. I'll go to bed in the morning as well anywhere from 6-8am and wake up from 2-4pm. It's a nightmare. I've always been a night owl. Doctors have told me nothing will work, I'm just wired like this, unfortunately. They told me to work the night shifts since it's a problem and I do usually do work swing shifts.

i love this!! i also didn't realise how much i hated going to sleep and waking up until you said those were the worst two times of your day, and i AGREE. i've been on a little insomnia journey and i'm finally medicated, so going to sleep isn't always the worst anymore, but the waking-up haze is killer :( hopefully i'll find something that helps make waking up better for me soon!
