Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Challenge: Build a vehicle that finishes a race for you using logic. Instead of just using endless amounts of timing for turns, you could try to use distance sensors in the new race island course because it has borders

Funny timing! This morning I was playing the canals hover race and managed a top 10 using basically your design. (I went up a league to add an extra hover pad, moved the gyro stabilizer, removed the fins and replaced them with a regular gyro.)

You could use wedges on steering hinges pointing straight up then press a button to face them forward to change how much downforce you have so that when you fly up you can go back down it would add a bit of drag but it could be a negligible difference (im sure someone smarter can think of a better way to do this but this is all can come up with)

Or put the final engine on hinges that angle up and down so you can just fly down when you go up

One crazy thing you could try is putting hover pad on a max dampening min stiffness suspension. This could help with bumps and bouncing.

You had this nosedive issue in the original video too. As the front turns you loose the down force. I think I left the comment to just move the top part of the wedge to supplement the turning, so you don't loose the down force as the front is not your moving direction to those wedges anymore as you turn.

an asymmetric design in my opinion could benefit, the track is not symmetric, the forces on the big turn are not balanced between the sides of the vehicle, i think the tuning should be done right and left side indipendently corrisponding to the needs, scrapman already has done a design like this but overall uses a symmetric design for his creations

with u only having 3 races left to do a way to maybe continue the series would be to do it with glitches now and to prevent u from putting them on the actual leaderboards u could record the times of them and do it offline so they leader boards dont update online kinda like a personal time and that way you could do it without tainting the actual times (i dont play trailmakers much so im assuing thats how the game would work offline). another idea may be try seeing if using a controller could help improve time because in alot of ur runs using kbnm the twitchiness may actually hinder ur speed like in real life. idk tho but loved this series and your content keep it up

You should totally go back for revenge and redo all the races wihout any restricions, use all the glitches and tricks you can, it'll be the scrapman villian arc EDIT: To those of you saying cheating is lame, I agree, that's why it's only acceptable because he already proved himself without cheating, if he decides he doesn't want to be on the leaderboards by cheating he can take note of the times and then do the races offline.

Maybe adding more hover pads across the bottom to provide more support across the length may help, or adding slightly angled aerodynamics pieces to moderate the aerodynamics and maybe skim the water may help as well.

What would be really cool to see is if they add a grappling hook/harpoon to trailmakers, not only could it make vehicle combat even cooler, with mad Max style close engagements and even like broadsiding and stuff, but it would add a really interesting niche to racing, because you could use them to grapple on corners to allow for extremely tight turning, or even in dogfights could maybe allow you to hairpin turn around thin supports to get the jump on someone chasing you or the like

Unfortunately ScrapMan, disabling seat-air-control does not affect seat-water-control. S-w-c is hard coded, for some reason that i hate. So if you even touch water with any part of the craft you dive. I've tested the above by making a neutrally buoyant "craft"/test platform of a seat diving bell suspended on 0-power rotors/servos with their imputs/control keys not bound and/or bound to irrelevant keys, going under water not touching bottom, and pressing W/S with and whitout tick on air control disable. The diving bell spins on sadw keys, regardless of air control state.

You could do some of the previous races in different category. For example I don't think you ever did a race in muscle league (I know you said it is basically a glitch competition there, but I'd like to see peak non-glitchy there at least once). Also maybe you could have a multiplayer competition where the limit is not power cores or blocks, but size: Let's say you need to fit your build in a 10x10 cube. I got that idea when you tried space thrusters, since their main advantage is size

The dev should just do different category for the leaderboard, glitch and glitchless, it's probably impossible to check it with a program but maybe they can just check the top 10 or 15 once per 2 weeks and change them in the right category

One thing that bugs me... if rotating BOTH wedges is too much, why not just try rotating one? same thing with the fins... if moving BOTH fins up is too much, why not try moving just one of the fins up... its fine if the vehicle is slightly asymmetrical. I feel like Scrapman for some reason just ruled it out as a possibility subconsciously...

have you done any videos on wedges and whether they have different strengths in altering trajectory? like maybe a 2x1 wedge isnt as aerodynamic as a 4x1 but because the angle of the wedge is steeper it applies more perpendicular force? if it does maybe you could sacrifice some aerodynamics for stability by balancing the forces of different wedges.

Gyros do become more effective the closer they are to your centre of mass because of how moments and torque work

Why not use left/right speed sensors connected your turning with minor input value so that they are always working to stabilize your wobbles, but not enough to override your turning inputs.

Is it possible to tune the lift/downforce by simply replacing aerodynaimc blocks at the top with more or less effective wedge blocks? a 1x3 wedge should increase drag at the top of the vehicle a small amount causing the angle of the vehicle to be pulled up right? since rotating the 1x4 wedges was too large of a difference maybe this difference would be small enough to find the balance.

What are those pipe pieces on top of your craft that hold it together and why they are so asymmetric and nonsensical? The only thing I can come up with is that they do not weigh anything and do not have any air resistance, but that cannot be it because you're still using those flat connectors which do weigh a little.

It could be separate evolutionary paths (each player sticks with the same plane they had from the start but changes it each round) so that there's more diversity and like reactionary evolution and stuff Eg if your opponent uses thrust vectoring, next round you could put on an emp instead of an extra smart cannon

You should use Space thrusters instead because they're lighter and I think they're lesser power cores and remember when you broke the sound barrier with only a few of them, lesser than the dragon thrusters maybe you could go mach 2
