Lord of London Town by Tillie Cole is the best mafia romance I've read, which is saying something because I usually have to DNF them. It's inspired by the Netflix show Peaky Blinders, and was a super fun read that didn't feel cheesy like a lot of them do.

there’s so many romances in the KU space that have the MMC named rowan and i just have to sigh and accept the fact that I’ll never be able to read them because that’s my twin brother’s name lol. but anyone I know who’s read the fine print has told me it wasn’t worth it so I’m not too mad about it FLAWLESS, on the other hand, stays true to its title. I've noticed that a lot of people love Mile High and The Right Move but don't realize they're actually book 3 and 4 of the series! Becoming Selfish and Staying Selfless are a duology that starts the series and follows Eli Maddison and Logan while they're in college. They're so good, and Zanders plays a pretty big role in Eli's story, so you get a lot of his backstory too. For whatever reason Mile High blew up on booktok and the first 2 books have gone under the radar, but I highly recommend!

It took me forever to slog through The Fine Print. I’ve been very hesitant to read Term & Conditions bc of it. I can’t get over the fact that a minimum wage employee rising to the ranks of the highest paid position in the park only gets a $10k a year raise and argues that it’s too much. Clearly the author has never had to work.

I haven't read the 3rd book, but I've read the first 2 and HONEST TO GOD I'm convinced it's a not so subtle Succession fanfic. You've got Rowan/Roman. Elder brother Declan (doesn't it sound like an anagram of Kendall?) and Callahan (an Irish name like Siobhan). At least Succession critiques the billionaires. These books glorify them

@2:36 I've read The Fine Print and Terms and conditions and I feel like I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but I'm SO convinced the author was inspired to write the books based off Succession. 1. Youngest son is Rowan (Roman) 2. Eldest son (sorry Connor) is Declan (SOUNDS like an anagram of Kendall) 3.Third bro is Callahan. It's an Irish name like Siobhan is 4. Declan is socially awkward and can't seem to read people, like Kendall 5. Declan's assistant (and fake marriage to her) is black, like Jess 6. Their dad is an asshole that tries to undermine them when he can There's probably way more points of comparison that I'm forgetting, but these books glorify these people and their lifestyle, while Succession at least shows you how horrid they are

UGHHHHH I feel the exact same about Pucking Around. The smut scenes are great but it is SO LONG and I feel like it’s…just an odd dynamic. It almost feels more pick me than why choose. the banter and a smut is great and I might pick it up again just to finish but it’s a DNF for now.

I've read a few of the ones you liked. I have read Flawless, Heartless, and Powerless. I need to read the other series by Elsie Silver. I've been steering clear of Haunting Adeline, especially after reading another book by this author that I didn't vibe with. A lot of the ones in the top 20 are ones that I'm just not sure if I'll love. But this was a great video. It may be fun to see you read a few books from the top 5 or 10 in different romance categories.

I'm someone who did love Pucking Around and do think it does get deeper than just the smutty smut smut but I'd say before you try Pucking Around again you should try the prequel novella, That One Night. It is what it sounds like, it's the story of when Rachel and Jake met for their one night, no names hookup. I think this is a good entry point because it's much shorter, is a good representation of the author's writing in Pucking Around in my opinion, and only one dude so maybe an easier entry point if why choose isn't your normal jam.

Honestly, I liked Pucking Around at first but ended up temporarily dnfing it at around 60% because I was becoming annoyed with how the characters were handling their supposedly secret relationship. When I did get back to it a couple weeks later, all those things that annoyed me before became insufferable to read. I don’t think they would have been as much of an issue had the book been 200-300 pages shorter (and I’m usually someone who loves long books). I skim-read a lot of the last half just to get through it. There were just some problems with some of the characters’ actions I felt and the overall dynamic once the third love interest got involved just felt off to me.

Ha! I really liked Pucking Around. It was my first "why choose" romance. For these types of stories I just choose to suspend my belief. I don't know why any woman would chose to date 3+ men at a time? It sounds mentally exhausting to me. I thought it was fun and I liked the banter between the characters. But I'm a banter girlie. It always enhances a story for me. I have done a soft DNF on The Fine Print. It just wasn't interesting to me? I think it's because I don't like "Billionaire" romances. I don't mind when the romantic interest is sucessful but a billionaire? No. It's not interesting to me.

I mean... Stories about 3+ people vying for the same person's attention or for each other's attentions *can* sometimes be about long-lasting romance(s) too, and _don't_ necessarily always have to be just about stuffing every hole possible(And the appeal of things isn't always based on how realistic it is or isn't-sometimes the appeal of things is specifically the fancifulness of it too or how unlikely it is that it would probably ever really happen but you can still dream anyhow!).😅😅🤭😆 (Sometimes, it's also not always about 3+ people vying to catch the same person's eye, it can be instead more about 3+ people simply already having caught the same person's interest or maybe whose interest the same person might/would be interested in catching for themself. If that even makes sense) Buut, nonetheless, I totally get/respect the complaint/reluctance to fully dive into or enjoy it anyhow! Not everything has to be for everyone - and that's A-OK. And it's definitely, definitely something that I think can also depend a lot on the specific type of story that's being told(((like is it being done in the style of a love-triangle where they're all essentially rivals and jealousy &/or drama abounds, or more like just a superficial or casual fling / threesome[ or such] type setting, or is it in the vein of an actual why-choose or poly/throuple /etc. / more seriously committed type situation))) and/or what the specific focus of it is overall((is it more on the smut or more on the characters/relationships/etc.)) and so on; all depending on individual interests/tastes/preferences, or such. 😊

I'm sorry to hear that the Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward book wasn't good for you. I've read two of their collaborations and enjoyed them both, so periodically I look over the books they've written to try and find another that would appeal to me. I especially liked their book Happily Letter After from 2020. I understand your issues with Lucy Score. I've only read one of her books -- By a Thread -- which is not romantic suspense at all, but a workplace romance and really liked it. However, it was very long. Interesting to hear your opinion of the Mafia books. I have to be honest. I fail to see the attraction when it comes to books involving the Mafia. I guess The Godfather has a lot to answer for, making it all seem romantic in a horrific way. To me, they're just common criminals and I can't get into them. (I feel the same about bully romances. Why be into someone who is not just grumpy but downright nasty to you?)

Let be honest Pucking Around really is just smut for the most part, the third guy (Mars) ruined the book and dynamic. Which the author tried to amend in the third book which still didn’t work.
