Apparently, how an ollie works is you're supposed to jump almost slightly before the board: you basically slam the tail of the board so hard that it makes it FLY up really high, hence ollies tend to usually be surprisingly low unless you're good at it. So you deck the tail so the whole board bounces upwards, and you use your tucked front foot to gain extra height from the front AND push it forward naturally so you can land back on it "safely"

theres a local at my park named terry, the dude is proof you can be "good" and push mongo. Although hes not a technical skater, doesnt to many tricks outside of ollie, fs 180, nose grabs, tail grabs, and bennihanas. Hes able to ollie our 8 stair thats all cracked up, ollie over our big pyramid, and air out of coping higher than anyone else. Hes the stuntman skate forsure, alot of other homies think hed be so much better if he didnt push mongo and focused on his tricks.
