The cheese puffs work because microwaves heat up water faster than they heat up fat, while normal ovens heat up the fat faster. That's why they don't melt normally

As a Hispanic, we have been making cinnamon sugar tortillas since...forever. we call them buñuelos. Usually, we make the sugar tortilla from scratch, but hack it using the store bought raw tortillas. We fry them and them and then cover them in the sugar cinnamon. SO yummy!

My friend taught me this when we were growing up about 30 years ago. I used to make them for my son when he was little as a snack. Now that I eat mainly keto, I’ve tried to make them with keto tortillas (store bought of course) and substituting out the sugar with allulose or stevia/monk fruit/erythritol blend and make in my air fryer. They are good, but nothing hits like the ones my friends mom would make for us when we would go to her house. Maybe that’s the nostalgia… or nothing beats mama’s cooking…

My guess, as someone who has used almond flour in baking with weird results lol, is that almond already have a lot of fat in them. This fat does release while cooking, so butter could make it very oily. But also the video she found, could possibly be one of those no dairy, no refined sugar "healthy recipes" lol

Christopher nor his sisters have a Finnish accent. How did that happen? Also, does he speak to your kids in Finnish? I find foreign languages incredibly fascinating.
@Ray_Vun
@Ray_Vun 2 күн бұрын
and i've only ever heard it being mentioned that christopher grew up in finland, no mention of his sisters, who are in videos often, having grown up there. as for the accent, there's countries that have english only schools, often times children of military and diplomats and such attend those schools, and so they speak perfect english with an american or british accent. i know of an influencer who grew up in spain but speaks broken spanish because his parents aren't from spain and moved around a lot and put him in one of those schools when they settled in spain, so he speaks perfect english but really broken spanish because he grew up speaking english. chances are chris only knows the more basic finnish stuff and isn't super fluent like he is with english

I am 100% Finnish and live in Finland, and don't have a Finnish accent. My sister also is fully Finnish and has always lived in Finland, and she has an impeccable British accent. No one can tell she's not a native speaker. Point being, it's possible. Especially if you live in a location where English is spoken as the main language, one can adopt the local accent. Traveling also helps!

We Finns start learning English at school from a very young age and because our TV shows are not dubbed so we do hear the proper pronunciation of American / British English from that too. My assumption is the added sugar is to counter the fact that freezing things dulls our ability to taste their flavors. It's why melted ice cream tastes a lot sweeter than when it's frozen. It also might affect how it freezes and the consistency of it, because higher sugar might make it less icy.
@blaireshoe8738
@blaireshoe8738 2 күн бұрын
@@LazyPoetess ah, that's likely why. I've definitely frozen gatorade before and it ended up as an icy slush, very crystal-y, this seemed much smoother in a way that can't be down to just the mixer step.

Drain the grease before adding anything, even the garlic. Add some Italian seasoning, more salt and pepper, a teeny bit of sugar or honey to cut the acidity of the tomato paste, sour cream instead of cream cheese OR all cream (may have meant heavy/whipping cream), then let it burble for a couple of minutes. It isn't BAD, it's just ... rushed, IMO.

Philly doesn’t make their cooking cream anymore. It came in different seasoning varieties-Santa Fe, Italian, Garlic, Pesto and Lemon & Herb. It was supposed to be a ready mix-in to jazz up your meals. Their hack for replicating it at home is a one tub of their cream cheese spread, 2T of milk and then: Pesto-mix in 2T pesto Italian-mix in 1T Italian seasoning Garlic-mix in 1/2T of garlic powder Santa Fe-mix in 2T of taco seasoning mix Lemon & Herb-mix in 1t lemon zest, 2T lemon juice,1/2t garlic powder, 1/4t black pepper Obviously these can be tweaked and you should salt to taste. (Thank you Pinterest.) All that said, besides ground beef not browning in 5 minutes, it would have been about 5 minutes to assemble and be ready if you had the Italian cooking cream. The seasoning would have also been in said cooking cream. So I’d try making your own version of their cooking cream and then retry recipe.

And I serve it with burrata cheese (or mozzarella but burrata is better)

Our Best Bites has an air fryer crumble recipe you can make on the side while the apples are cooking. That way you get the quickness of the microwave for the whole, but the crumble will be what you want too. It’ll take more than 5 minutes, but way less than the 30 minutes just in baking of the whole apple crisp.

These look interesting, indeed. I'mma have to try the tortilla bit and the 'cheese' puffs. I can't believe they crisped up! Also, as far as 'quick and easy' recipes; have you tried pepperoni and salami 'chips'? You sandwich pepperoni and/or hard salami slices between about 3+ layers of paper towels and microwave for about a minute, possibly more (YMMV depending on your microwave) and they end up with a really nice crisp, because they're basically quick-fried in their own fat, but the paper towels soak most of it up. Great with cheese or the usual charcuterie-type things. Obviously great if you're doing low-carb and miss the crunch of potato chips, as well as the salt, because these little devils retain all their salt. Chris will probably love 'em. *_grin_* Thanks, Rachel! 😁👍🏼💜

Kraft Singles can't actually be considered real cheese because they contain less than 51% cheese. So just that alone tells me it'll likely to act differently than normal cheese would. My educated guess is that the microwave makes it bubble up; but unlike heating a Kraft single on a stove were it will bubble and melt, the intensity of the microwaves probably 'fry' the thin membranes of 'cheese' before they deflate, leaving a puff. So I think the grosses part about it is just the Kraft single itself, I don't think microwaving really makes it any worse. So if you're ok not looking too closely into what the other 49% of the ingredients are, then go ahead and make them. 🤷🤣

I think the microwave gets hot too fast for the cheese to melt. Kind of what happened with bread today. I left it in the sun so much to melt it (it was frozen) that the bread became crispy. So I'm thinking the cheese doesn't even have enough time to actually melt before it bubbles and goes all crunchy. Might have to try this with some lactose free cheese and see. I think it would work great as a dumb snack.

With the apple crisp, if you used an oven safe ramekin and did it in the air fryer, you'd get the crispness to the topping. Also you could probably blend some oats to get an oat flour to use in place of the almond flour. If you do it in the air fryer I'd probably do a pat or so of butter on top.

You should definitely try coconut milk and oat flour! For the apple crumble that sounds like it would be good!

Would love for you to do a Ramen hack video as you love ramen as much as most of us do. I add cheese and chicken since seeing you do it but sure there are other hacks. (Best hack I was given was to drain the ramen and only add seasoning after

It blows my mind you used a knife to cut the american cheese instead of just folding it in halves XD

Next time, just use the less than 10 minutes instead of 5 minutes...Leaves you a bit of breathing room.

If it helps you feel better. The thick rind of real parmesan cheese does the same thing in the microwave as the American processed cheese slice. I assume it has to do with the lack of moisture in the cheese as opposed to anything else. The find of parmesan is really dry as is a processed cheese slice. I'm thinking that haloumi cheese might do the same thing too.

Whole wheat is healthier than bleached, but there is still bad stuff associated with all wheat in North America and Canada

nah if i need to put something in the fridge or freezer before i can eat it, disqualified. if it's a 5 minute recipe, i need to make it in less than 10 minutes and be able to eat it right away once it's done, not having to wait hours for something to freeze in order to do so
