Hellooo! I hope you enjoyed this video. Btw. I'm not turning this channel into a camera channel haha - this video was not supposed to come out yet and follow the last video on the Fisher-price camera, but due to some complications the video I had planned had to be postponed (coming in April hopefully) and so I promptly had to finish editing this one, hence the delay and yet another camera video. I hope it was worth the wait nevertheless! Also, congrats to Willem to launching his own camera, which I think is so cool - it was really fun to shoot with it! Also much love to Squarespace for the continuous support of the channel! Head to www.squarespace.com/teocrawford to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain by using the code "TEOCRAWFORD" (also supports the channel). Have a lovely week!

@teocrawford this randomly made me remember the "Purma Special" film camrea it has a camrea shutter that is variable due to gravity. When you hold the camrea upside-down it is 1/25 sideways it 150th and right way up it is 250th I think from memory. Could be a fun camera for you to try out at some point.

Thanks for this. The camera is another iteration of the Reto point and shoot that has been around for a while and sold under various brand names (and prices). The cheapest has been the Agfaphoto for around 20-25 Euros, all others are ranging higher. As far as I can tell there is no technical difference between those. The Long Weekend has a neat design, though. And yes, the simplicity of those cameras is what makes them good fun.

You live in such a picturesque location. It is so different from where I live. The photos came out really well. I like how you’re honest with your self evaluation. Thanks for an interesting video.
@lelandfitz176210 ай бұрын
The camera is basically a RETO built for this project. RETO makes those cameras (all have the same specs regarding shutter speed, aperture and focal length) for example for Kodak or Agfaphoto where you can get it for a fraction of the price of the Long Weekend one. I saw in the video that this model has a small window showing you what film you have inside. That's something the cheaper RETOs lack. AFAIK the Long Weekend also is supposed to have a tripod mount that the others don't have. But I wouldn need that for a plastic camera like that. Interesting to know that it on the other hand lacks what it's cheaper brothers have: A counter.
@bigboichoi00739 ай бұрын
And you can take a shot on a even cheaper p&S that has 10x the features. I got a canon sure shootzoom 60 for $9.
@lelandfitz17629 ай бұрын
@@bigboichoi0073 Yeah, I wanted to stay on topic with models that can be compared to this. Available as a new product for everyone without having to look for a good model worldwide and praying not be taken advantage of. Luckily there are some better cameras coming our way in 2024. Pentax, Mint's Rollei, FilmNeverDie's Nana, just to name 3 that I know of. Except for the Nana that will be serious cameras built like in the days of film photography. Whoever wants to go for the plastic fantastic cameras can go for a range of them: Reto's Ultra Wide and Slim with 22mm lens, several Half-Frame models like Kodak or Agfa or full frame from them and others. They're just all less expensive than the model shown here. Because here a famous KZbinr wants to earn some money off of the product aswell, besides the companies thar produce and distribute it anyways.

This US$50 does the exact same thing any other $20 toy camera does. I suppose it’s literally just Willem Merch, which is fine. But if you want the look and feel, save your money and get a Kodak M35 at less than half the price or a secondhand point and shoot for the same price

While I love the idea behind this camera, I feel like people are better off getting almost any other cheap point & shoot camera from back in the days. They'd get autofocus & a metering system at a similar price point if not cheaper. There's just not enough value in this camera imho.

I think it kind of depends... I actually get a lot of messages asking me how to get a more lofi look in film photography, hence that is where I see the target audience for this camera - people who want to embrace (even more) imperfections. Personally however, I do also prefer my other point and shoots with better glass and overall quality. Nevertheless I wanted to try it and must say that the ease of use was really fun :D Danke für's vorbei Schauen und Teilen deiner Gedanken David! :)

FYI for cameras where the shutter won't fire without film in them: Open the back and spin the sprocket hole counter (the little gear at the top or bottom of where the film would be) in the direction film would travel while advancing. That should cock the shutter so you can look through the lens from the back and test it out against a bright light.

It’s just the same as all the other full frame reusable camera. It has the same crap lens and back. Just slightly different styling at the front. It’s just a marketing thing. Either get it because you like the styling or buy the Harman version since that is the cheapest and comes with two rolls of Kentmere 400.

Yeah I think it's mildly deceptive to call this a 'new' camera ... it's exactly the same as all the other plastic 're-useable' cameras out there, many of which are cheaper.

hello! love you're videos. Im a beginning photographer and I'm wondering your opinion on which camera I should get. I know you're mainly a film photography but I'm sure you know about digital too. Currently it's between the Canon r50 and the Nikon d750. I like the canon because of it's modern technology, beginner friendly interface, and it's sharp canon colors, but I like the Nikon because it has a larger ecosystem of lenses, it's full frame, and it would challenge me to take more time with my photos. I would also like a versatile camera that is good at videos, but I also don't need super high resolution 4k whatever specs. I'm also into landscape photography, animal photography, street photography, but not quite so much portrait photography. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this, and I'm also open to other suggestions in that price range!

@gettoana10 ай бұрын
yeah, buying a second hand point&shoot you could get even a glass lens for this price :)
@teocrawford10 ай бұрын
Personally I'm also leaning heavily towards the camp of second hand quality buyers, however we're film photography and camera nerds haha. I get a ton of messages that show how many people are completely overwhelmed by the process of choosing a good P&S second hand and are worried about it's functionality etc. for whom it is more comfortable to simply buy a new film camera albeit the worse image quality. At the same time though, it's often the same people, who appreciate the strong imperfections that these cameras bring to the photograph, so maybe it's a good match :D
