Yeah, same issue here with Virtual Desktop, on steamVR i got constant 66 fps and 60 ms latency instead of 120 fps, it's like something is limiting my fps on random intervals i already checked task manager but there is nothing that is interfering with performance, i hope they fix this soon, or if anyone have any fix, please tell us

edit: I've experienced a noticeable performance dip in VR after installing windows 11. Frames are reduced in some games and there is a noticeable stutter in movement even when the game is operating at 90fps. I'm using an Oculus Quest 2 with 3070 and Ryzen 5 5600x CPU.

vr works differently than all other video playback and it is always skipping the next frame unlike in normal videos, it helps our eyes see better in the hmd. but since you saw the image stuttering, you were not getting any frames, so it isn't "operating at 90fps"

Tried VR with the Quest 2 on Windows 11 (Dec 2021) and it cut FPS in half. The only 'solution' involves keeping the Oculus debug console window open while running a VR app. Windows 11 seems ok for everything else, but NOT for VR yet! Went back to Windows 10 quickly. I'm surprised by your posiitive experience.

the software that was made for vr is not entirely compatible with latest operating systems despite game developers using dx12 for vr (sometimes) because it can give additional benefits to fidelity.. but at the cost of 3K more dollarinos to the people who will end up seeing the enjoyable side of things.. consumer pcs aren't even ready for win 11 vr. on a workstation you'll be fine because... it has 60+gb of ram vs your 8-16 thats not including what ends up being put into the pcie slots later on.. those things are a beast.. don't buy a pc until microsoft licenses an ARM operating system for server enviorments first... i mean.. if you're highly intelligent and willing to wait 4 years... or you could be dumb spend 30k on the next best arm gpu without waiting at all...

I have had no problems running the Q2 in Win 11. If anything it appears to connect much easier. While Win 11 seems to be largely cosmetic, I think the fresh interface and new security features are worth the effort. I now retract this statement. I can no longer connect to the Q2 via link, nor does Steam VR work. Things were fine until about 3 weeks ago. No response from Steam, Oculus or Microsoft.

I fixed the win 11 steam vr issues. I just wanted to share my very recent frustrating experience with using vr games on windows 11. I have a hp reverb G2 and a very powerful brand new gaming Pc with 12th gen i7 cpu and rtx3080 gpu. Benchmarks show this machine is UFO in all categories and should run pretty much every game at full settings without a glitch. However my windows machine ran vr games like a dog. I read lots of posts suggesting that steam vr had become very compromised by windows 11. I had crashes, low performance and hopeless vr experience. I reluctantly decided to take the inconvenience hit and go back to a clean install of windows 10. I can report this has fixed it all and games are running very smoothly at high frame rates and without issues. Really glad I took the hit. And I’ve stopped windows updates so it won’t reinstall Windows 11. Hope this helps some folks out there. Cheers

WHY do people come up with fake claims about "the next Windows might not work on my VR"? It's just something that they won't let happen because of the customers they would lose. I have the Oculus Rift S as well and it works "perfectly" with Windows 11. Simply put, Windows 11 isn't different enough from 10 for it not to. I'm running all the commonly known VRs and they work perfectly. All my VR needed some "minor" tweaking and they were perfect. In all truth Windows 11 works as good as 10 does when proprely tweaked. Steam/Oculus/Vive/Microsoft...i've used them all. I even run Quest 2 off the Oculus software flawlessly and use the old and new Oculus homes in them.

It's not that surprising. The shell changed in Win11, everything else is basically the same. If they've adapted more of the 10X's new desktop management and application containerization, that would surely introduce some interesting incompatibilities, but afaik that's not in this at all. Maybe Android apps will run that way.

Search just a bit and you'll see that W11 is downright broken for a lot of people. I have an Index and before upgrading I didn't even think about configuration, I just put on the visor on and chose any game from the home. Now I have to get out of VR, do shit with window focus, a crap ton of putting it on and off, and then, realize that the system has configured the Index as a freaking monitor and it wont work because my main monitor has HDR enabled and it looks incredibly bad when applied to the index. Buuuut I can't just deactivate it in Windows without unplugging the Index DisplayPort first. And I'm positive it's not only me who has these issues. Wait for Windows 12 or just stay with 10 as long as possible. And yeah, I'm updated to the brim, BIOS, chipset drivers, Win updates, GPU drivers... still the same SHIT.
