@@drewba7741 The Reverb G2 sold very well for flight and racing simmers, too bad HP can't step up to the plate and make their own drivers that would keep the G2 alive as a SteamVR and OpenXR HMD dropping the WMR crap. Microsoft are just being dicks, the WMR software already exists, hell it's on their store, so why not leave it as is, they aren't developing it anymore, so it costs them zero dollars to just keep it available. It's just Microsoft telling us all..... "you will do as we please and your going to like it". I'm still on Windows 10, this is just another reason to avoid Windows 11 like the plague.

Monado on linux is an alternative way to keep wmr headsets alive. It even include hand tracking module which was never an option for these devices.

Pimax is way too bulky and Quest means Facebook. I’m staying on 23H2 until there is a viable replacement. It will continue to receive updates until November 2025, so no need to rush into a compromise.

I knew this was coming before any of these recent videos are now showing up. When I heard about Microsoft shutting down mixed reality, nobody was even making any alarms about it. Now everyone is in panic mode if they own certain VR headsets. Right now I have the Quest 3 and still use Windows 10 for my SIM racing gaming. Before I got the Quest 3, I did have my HP G2 and Odysey plus but haven't used them for over a year because of poor video qualities. My other go to VR headset is my Oculus Rift S which I could use as a backup. Thanks for the video. Take care.

Thanks for the heads up to never install 11. I got my WMR Acer for $150cad on a Black Friday sale back when those used actually be sales! Still use it for sim racing now and then. But if I had to upgrade it would be the Quest because it doesn't need a 4090ti to run it.

Don't Just block 24H2 from installing. Super easy and if you within 10 days of the patch you can just revert back and then block it. EFF Microsoft for this and buying into the Meta universe and selling off our data to the worst data platform out there.

This is kind of a click-baity headline. It's not like the headsets are just being annihilated. There are still a number of easy workarounds at the moment to keep WMR installed before you go out and spend hundreds on new hardware.

All they had to do with the Reverb G2 was make it just Steam VR compatible instead of ever using that garbage Windows Mixed Reality software to begin with, Windows Mixed Reality was a pile of shit, a waste and served no purpose from the start, the software never stable and worked right half of the time, I bought this headset when it came out in 2020 and gave up on it in 2021 because it had nothing but problems with the unstable software, and the replacement cable from HP didn't fix or improve anything either, it's been sitting in my closet as a paper weight for the past 3 years, the G2 could of been a lot better of a VR headset if it didn't need the Windows Mixed Reality software installed, it was the biggest waste of money I ever spent on a VR headset, it was so bad that HP ended up discontinuing it

No they are not. They works great in MSFS2020 and windows 10. I will never update for this crap w11, and new headsets. My Samsung Odyssey gen 1 OLED Works like a charm, with very nice colors, contrast, OLED Dark scenes, and my computer HIGH END bought in 2017, is still running well. FY MS

for pcvr seated vr gaming, always go dedicated pcvr headset with cable if you want max fps and visual quality. stay away from these standalone vr headset like quest 2&3, they will drop your fps and visual quality, even more when using amd gpu. People who say amd gpus aren't good for vr, they use quest 2/3. I was using rx570 4gb with reverb g2 vr well in all games I played except acc and dirt rally 2.0. I then upgraded to rx 6800xt and it's beasting and fisting. Unless you have an rtx 4090 or you don't care about performance drop, you should only consider a dedicated pcvr headset. Just know, with quest 2&3 you will always be getting less fps and video quality than you were supposed to get using dedicated pcvr headset.

This is a crock of shit and should be completely ignored I have gone from a Oculus CV1 to Valve Index to Quest 3, and the Quest 3 is amazing for PCVR and blew the index out of the water, I get the same or better performance and the pancake lenses look so much better, and the ability to go wireless alone makes it worth it

The samsung odyssey was the best vr headset at launch with Oled display dual 1440 x 1600, 4,6 millions pixels with deep black good colors. Mixed reality was with the hololens 1 & 2. The interface in the home virtual desktop is very good that has been copied by all new headset. Microsoft is stupid to mot continue WMR. They simply needed to detached the Core openXR from the virtual desktop, and create a definitive 9 millions pixel headset with 110 fov, and support it with educational application, sports and game software. They are idiots. I still have my day 1 samsung odyssey ofyssey and it is better than quest 3 nearly 5 years later..my fs2020 runs really well with it.

Get a psvr2 if you really don't want to go quest. I understand. The latency over quest link will always be there and it drives me crazy. Plus meta as a company just being awful. Psvr2 is the only other option basically.
