Asian body standards are really wild. If people think that fat shaming is bad in the US, they need to see what happens in East Asia. Someone who is a US size small or medium is considered “plus sized”. 😳. The names of their plus-size stores confirm that - Chubby’s, Fatty Fat Girl’s, Moo Moo.

When I lived in China, a few Taobao brands were my BEST FRIEND. I still wear some of the pieces I bought 5 years after leaving! I wish I remembered names! My key to good brands: Chinese models that were actually plus-sized. So many brands put plus-sized clothing on their normal models, and I was like....how tf do I tell if that will fit my fat body when it's 5x too big for her!? A few are legit quality, although mostly synthetics, and with fits better suited to smaller chests/less ass. My style has definitely leveled up coming back to the US.@@heyitsfeiii

@@athena5172 Your reply shows you have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about concerning this topic. It's not about being "fat", it's about the fact that average Western women are considered obese here. I am 5'11" and was once told by a doctor here that I should weigh roughly 55 kg to be considered "healthy and beautiful", because Korean ideal is under 50 kg, even though my bloodwork, EKG, chest x-ray, etc all came back as perfect. 55 kg is like 120 lbs and EXTREMELY underweight for my height and frame. The fact that your first thought is immediately to tell someone to lose weight is abhorrent. Whenever I go to stores here, I have never seen clothes big enough for plus sizes, they are all tight and for smaller body types. Also the fact, It is really rare to find a plus size person in my country(quite literally), I dont know if its genes or the food but most people are just medium or skinny, I have though seen some plus size people but most of them were adults over the age of 40 or something. Asia is really fatphobic though like if people see a person whos overweight(I MEAN overweight, not FAT), They will start making fun of them no matter who the perwon is(Your child, a stranger, family member etc).

it's almost as if... the average of people's sizes are different depending on where they're from. it's mind-boggling to me when foreigners said bc asian size, in general, is small then it's toxic beauty standard. i mean, one size fits all IS toxic (which hello, brandy Melville exists! and that's not from asia). but if the brand has different sizes, and they have no problem with people within their own country, then maybe it is not for you foreigners. it's targeted for the people in that country. even European sizing is smaller than American sizing. explain that. are they also have toxic beauty standard then??? if i buy clothes from china, the sizing is always crazy small for me, a girl from Indonesia. they may not have the size for me or i have to buy XL or bigger. but with brands from my own country, i fit fine with clothes sized s/m or L/XL (depending on my weight). like, that clothes exist for me, because i buy stuff from my own country. that's how different it is even in Asia itself, bc again, brands make clothes for their own people. and i suppose if fei bought clothes from Indonesia, size XL or XXL would fit her, bc our sizing is bigger than the ones from East Asia. i would argue tho, the availability of (cute) clothes with sizes bigger than XL is kinda rare, so it is a problem. however, it's also not as common as in the US perhaps to find a young person in that XXL size. that's why a girl fitting to M/L size is considered quite big already, bc there's not that many people bigger than that.

My hips are 43 along with my butt, right above my hips is 33inches, then it dips to 27, and back up to 34. I wear a DD bra (I'm actually pretty flat so I don't get why I have a big cup size... It's like without a bra there's nothing and with a bra is oh mommy but anyways) I struggle to find clothes that fit... and if they do... they aren't made for my body type. They're either too small on my butt and upper thighs, or are too big on my waist. Here I'll explain in sizes. I wear a size 10-12 in shorts, 8 in dress pants, a size small in scrubs, and for ripped jeans usually a size 10. My problem is.... those don't fit me right at all. They'll fit right in all the wrong places. So instead of me having to wear a 10-12 in shorts I have to size up to SIXTEEN. Then they're too big on the sides of my thighs and like slightly behind my hips along with too big on my waist and stomach. BUT WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!?!?!?! It's way better just to size up 5 sizes than to wear what I actually wear and it be uncomfortable in certain spots. And if they do fit me right I look like a box because of how it's built... But if I wear bodycon I'm a size small to medium because of the leeway.. Idk I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging but I'm not even allowed to post in weight loss groups because of my body. I see other girls the same weight as me (190) and even the same height but they look like... 150 pounds more than me. If I post any slightly revealing or myself in bodycon on any weight loss or that type of support group... they get deleted. But I'm the same weight as another girl who's 8 sizes bigger than me? Idk I probably sound super rude but I don't get why other girls can post the same stuff and get hyped up but I cant... I'm sorry this sounds terrible So if that gives you an idea of how my body is built and why I struggle... Yeah. I'm really not trying to brag or body shame. At this point this is me complaining. Girls would die for my body but I hate it myself. It's a blessing but a curse.

I keep waiting for a brand to make something that fits girls like you and yet they keep acting as if they don’t know how women’s bodies are shaped

Girlie, I have the same measurements as you except for the hip size I’m a 39. I run into the same problems when shopping for clothes (plus I am tall) so I understand the struggle. Try looking for brands or lines within brands that cater to smaller waists and big hips. For example, Abercrombie Curve Love, American Eagle Curvy, Fashion Nova, Hollister Curvy, etc. If you can’t afford items for full prize, wait for sales. Don’t try to fit into regular clothes, make sure the clothes fit and are made for you! As for the support group thing, don’t let insecure women dull your shine! Bitter and jealous women will try to pull you down simply because you have the “ideal” body shape, regardless of your size. Additionally, they are incapable of offering true support because they are way too insecure and focused on themselves! When insecure individuals see others that are different from them they tend to single them out. I too have dealt with this. Know that it is not you, it’s them. They need to work on their character and self esteem. Just because someone fits the beauty standard doesn’t mean they themselves don’t have insecurities or deserve to be treated like trash. Learn to love yourself and be able to stand on your own two feet. Don’t let any women or man dull your shine!!! Never!!! The truly balanced and right people will gravitate to you naturally. Remember that those who truly love and support you want to see you be the best version of yourself.

You probably have a longer torso but thick bone structure. One of my friends has the exact same issues. She looks great in most clothing but ends up going for baggier stuff because it's almost impossible to find things that hug her curves without gaping in weird places. It's funny how everyone has different clothing issues. I can understand why it all used to be custom-made. 😂 For me, I'm built like a barrel. Short thick waist, barrel thighs, barrel chest, barrel shoulders - all bone and muscle. I look like someone put a dress on a thumb. I bought a corset once because I wanted curves and LOL turns out muscle and bone don't squish and it actually ADDED bulk even when laced down. It's a great body, don't get me wrong. I am 5 feet tall and can pick up 80 pound bags of concrete. But in a dress I look like a pug with visible panty lines. I gave up a couple years ago and learned how to sew. Life changing. 10/10 recommend for girlies who can't do off the rack.

Sometimes it feels like America does the same. A Large feels like a medium, or idk if its just me not accepting it. Or maybe I am between a M and L 😂

I thrifted some pants and then I looked at the size and they were “Asian XXL” and I am a S or 36

As someone who’s taller than average, it’s also really hard to find pants that are long enough haha 😅

Omg yes. Like, I'm not even all that tall for a woman (5'8"/173 cm) and I still struggle to find anything that doesn't sit right at my shins or slides too far down my bottom. I don't know how the 6 foot girls are living.

nah girl the standard there isn't "skinny" its literally anorexic levels >__> I'm only 129 lbs and that is already considered fat. (according to my Asian mom)

I come from a wealthy family since generations ago but I donate my clothes every year while my parents and other family members donate up to $10k a year . I am naturally thin and tall and was shocked to see that I was an L in asian size when in western size I am an S and an M also I wasn't able to find a B size cup bra because asian girls are naturally small chested and flat ass .
