I Turned Defy Into A Powerful Damage Ability That Also Spreads Spores (Warframe)

You can get very creative with defy as a damage ability and I'm curious what you guys are gonna try with this. Defy is a weak tank enhancing ability, but it is a very strong damage ability that isn't affected by much and is hindered by armor. So I set out to fix that and turns out the nerf it received makes alot more sense now. If this also gave you half of the armor cap it would be stupid broken.

My only complaint about subsumed Defy is that it looks really out of place to have that staff pop out of nowhere for no reason on other frames.

You don't have to hit enemies with the meteor blast to increase flame meter, spam 4 anywhere and watch meter go up real quick. Ember main here :)

While I'm not an ember main I did notice that he has too much strength... Ember doesn't need much strength to hit the cap on her immolation and she can get said strength through her passive EASILY so you don't even need a single strength mod most of the time.

Another tip for ember, but also works for caster frames like protea. Run a Huras Kubrow, the invis from that has a higher range than shade causing you to stay invis 70% of gametime. Also the invis doesnt break when you deal damage with warframe abilities. I dont run any survivability mods(Sometimes rolling guard though)

Use this on any frame with Equilibrium equipped alongside a Panzer Vulpaphyla with Synth Deconstruct+Fiber on it for damn near infinite energy. This has completely solved any energy efficiency issues I had on Saryn or Ember, and now that you've enlightened me with the power of Defy, I feel confident that this setup is unstoppable.

I went and experimented with this as I would love a reason to use my Panzer Vulpaphyla. Unfortunately, he is so slow at creating spores that most mobs are dead before he shoots off quills (I tested it on a steel path exterminate mission [Pallas, Ceres]). Consequently, he doesn't generate many health orbs so equilibrium gets very limited use. I first tested on a Saryn, but I was wondering if perhaps his spores can't overwrite my spores (I think an enemy can have a maximum of 3 spores on them) and that was decreasing my Panzer's effectiveness? I tried again with Xaku, and it seemed to work better, but only if I patiently waited until I saw spores on an enemy before I started swinging. Am I overlooking something?

You can also use Umbral Vitality + Umbral intensify instead of using Transient Fortitude. Same strengh, more duration, more health.

You know, I came across a Vauban rework video recently, and one of the top comments, almost a year old, claimed that the frame was going to be nerfed immediately. That comment was before they buffed Vauban's Minelayer even further. It is very annoying to come across the same comment over and over again. I'm even seeing it on videos over one or two years old, claiming that a weapon or ability was going to be nerfed, when in reality the nerf never came.

@@Tonatsi Unlikely. I've spent way too much time on youtube, especially on the comments section and I'd be shocked if there was still a weapon/ability showcase out there that I somehow missed. Almost every time a creator makes a video on anything at all, there are comments claiming that whatever it is, it will be nerfed. And most of the time, maybe over 90% I'd say, it is proven false.

Why not a rage build on equinox with defy? Id imagine the 100%+ dmg vulnerability would help with the armor problem. You also increase the dmg they deal which increases the dmg thatd be sent back. Slap in the aug and it should theoretically cause a chain reaction where you cast rage, kill them, spread the rage to get more enemies on you, etc no? Seems maims been changed so you only get a certain amount of hp from the mob as dmg rather than before where it was dmg dealt making it less handy as a nuke and more fer the bleed procs instead

@@JuliusKingsley0 ye i may have misunderstood the mechanic lol. Used to think it was dmg dealt to the enemy when they die not 75% of their hp and shields. Had to do some reading bout it but saw one post stating that it was dmg dealt when they die so i was confused. Point still stands about defy and rage tho. And if anything, helps reinforce the bleed procs from maim.

Ignis is basically a swiss army knife of a gun at this point. Built-in heat, pops nullifier bubbles really quickly, stuns enemies (usually long enough to kill them on steel path even), you never even have to aim, really speeds up fights against kela, etc...

Mag would be probably also a good choice since you can strip i think it is 80% (?) armor with her augument fracturing crush which would also depend on damage and range like defy. Maybe give it a try :)

One thing I've been enjoying is breach surge on nezha, it's pretty good on all enemies except heavy gunners but your dealing 3x damage on a enemy with a fire procs afterwards so it's pretty good, also if your putting damage into the system it scales with your weapon so it's pretty nice.

Saryns spores are based on scaling damage, any decent Saryn player knows the way to play her is maximizing Range and neglecting Strength (around 120% power strength is the sweetpost) and you want to go up to 280% range. That way the damage of spores boosts up by itself because its affecting more enemies. For example a bad Saryn would have 180% Strength and 100% Range, thats very bad because enemies die before spreading Spores.

The sweet spt for range is mathematically at 241%.( I forgot the formula off the top of my head but it's listed as a comment in xandypant's latest volt video) is use the rest of the slot for other utilities (augment, rolling guard,etc) as anything more and you are looking at diminishing returns

200% power strength was, and remains the "sweet spot" because you want it to armor strip in the least time possible. It only being able to remove 80% of armor doesn't change that at all. If it's ramping too fast to keep spreading, you just recast it to lower your growth, or realize you're in content it isn't needed for, and just use it for Venom dose. Range is secondary to the armor strip.

I've been seeing people using anomaly lately and just wondering since most people use zenurik anyways, why not use void singularity? Works with magus repair and doesnt take up an operator arcane slot.

I just can't bring myself to subsume anything on Saryn. Kit with the healing augment is just too synergistic to fit anything in, unless you're building for extreme edge cases like >1hr endurance SP. Definitely useful on other frames though.

I dont like that you never show your drain costs on all of these builds that you tank duration. Tanking duration is gonna make the drain a lot higher and I dont think a lot of your less experienced followers know that. Please state this in these build videos.

Even if it was only line of sight, thats still pretty good. Defy causes you to have a higher threat lvl than anything else around you so things will still go after you. Itd probably be the latter if they did nerf it or just make it so its only on death rather than on hit and on death. Doesnt seem handy fer my playstyle either way tho cause i like using my frames with melee. Went spectrosiphon instead and yell "WELCOME TO THE THUNDERDOME" in my head everytime i cast it

In that case it's enough if you don't let them get close, but as soon as there's a disruptor ancient or anything else that prevents you from keeping enemies at bay, you're screwed. Also a lot of them have toxin damage which goes through shields, so shield-gating isn't gonna save you

@@ropuce but it totally will if they never get close. Disruptors can be kept at bay with a decent gun and then abilities work great again. If you wanna do a steel path endurance run longer than 3 hours, they MIGHT start to get difficult, but no armor or shields usually means easy AF if you're prepared at all

Since heat has a panic effect on enemies, it would probably be kind of counterintuitive to use it with blazing pillage, because then they won't be able to shoot at you. With normal pillage it might work though.
