@@warflex8895 even if I conceded that people overuse the term tanky, I'm fairly sure having twice the base health and armor of the average frame counts as way more then "a bit of armor". He has the 5th highest EHP before mods and abilities and it shows. If you can't survive as lavos on non-endless steel path missions...that's legitimately on you.(I mean he's even doing steel path in the video) If you want to talk about endless missions, then that's a different story. most players don't do endless long enough where it's a anything is a threat to a well-built lavos though. Also, calling shield gating tanky is like calling CC tanky. they're fundamently different ways of surviving. Naturally tanky frames don't have to press a button every second they get shot by a single peashooter.

As a person who also loves lavos, he is good and fun but the main reason I think people steer clear of him is because of his gimmicks. I use Citrine for a similar reason. Her passive is a comfy health regen, her 2 gives a lot of defense, especially if combined with Health Conversion, Adaptation and Arcane Blessing. Her 1 makes healing and energy regen a non issue, her 3 is a solid CC, damage and weapon buff tool if you use Condition Overload or the Galvanized variants of it, even more if you use Archon Continuity for the extra Corrosive proc. Her 4 is just a panic button, or a "I really do not want to deal with an Acolyte today" button. Simple, fun, strong, tanky, all a man can want! Not to mention how all of her abilities also affect allies, making her an amazing frame for solo and a terrific choice for co-op missions!

Tip if you really are having a hard time to decide which element is best at a certain situation. Use cold. No kidding, use cold as it slows down the enemy giving you some breathing space as the slow effect of cold isn't a movement speed slow, its an animation slow which also affects the enemies damage output, so if you are panicking at situation, hold 2 then press 2 or 4 it's not on cooldown.

Lavos became my Arbitration frame for a decent chunk of time while I was farming those for Galvanised mods and Arcane Pistoleers. His abilities never feel like they're churning through enemies, sucking them up into a convenient ball or buffing him for a bajillion damage, but he always was able to make their day worse and I was always running in a squad spreading their buffs around anyway. Also his inherent use of duration on status was nice too. I tried to build around the aura mod that causes heavy attacks to deal extra status damage, Pennant and the teleporting heavy attack mods and... well, it didn't work, but it was a fun idea none the less I might have to revisit with Kullervo's 1.

As someone who stuck with Revenant for such a long time Lavos quickly became my top pick alongside it. Just a blast to play overall and lots of potential. Also not worrying about "wasting energy" is such a good feeling even though i run Zenurik most of the time. I am one of the weird people who really enjoy railjack so not having to worry about energy issues while flying was just the cherry on top. Honestly highly reccomend people to at least give him a go.

What is Lavos pros compared to Revenant? I haven't got him yet and Revenant seems like a reliable warframe tbh.
@mrstalfos7489 Жыл бұрын
@@centurionxiv6905 Well depends on what you look for on a frame. Revenant and Lavos do different things but one thing that they have in common in my opinion is versatility and synergy in their kit. Revenant can enthrall enemies to crowd control while also being able to dispatch said thralls with percentage damage based on strength all the while being immortal. That said his 4th ability leaves much to be desired and doesn't quite work along the rest of his kit. But i find he work in a lot of scenarios from defense to exterminate but especially survival. Keep in mind i mostly play offline due to my potato net and your thralls can be killed by other players which might get in the way of dispatching high health enemies. Lavos however doesn't have a traditional CC like enthrall but he can infuse his abilities with any element and use that as a CC substitute. Inflicting cold can slow enemies while electricity can stun them for a moment. He also may not have the invincibility skill of Revenant but he does have the second most armor of any frame while also his whole kit synergyzing and working well on higher tier content. This is all a really simplified version of their differences from a potato mostly casual player. Ken does have a Revenant guide and i very much reccomend checking it out. See how the frame works.

Honestly I think this is a pretty good explanation of the virtues of Lavos. He does a lot that's unique, even if it's not gamebreakingly so, and does everything else Good Enough that he's an incredibly good comfort-frame to just load into missions and Do. Historically I've had a lot of these myself, some better at it than others-- Nidus was my guy for like a year but admittedly he spends a lot of time pressing 1, then it was Revenant but he doesn't do much *unique* other than be genuinely unkillable and somehow still receive buffs from DE anyway, then it was Garuda, who I think does a LOT right and I love her to death but she's also pretty high APM. Lavos may not be my default, but I absolutely understand and respect the commitment, he's just so eminently... Playable. He doesn't bust your ass, he's not boring, and he has just enough claim to fame doing things nothing else can with his lack of an energy pool. Idealized warframe, tbh.

I've been anticipating getting to play Lavos for a while, since he feels like a really unique frame (and I like those). This vid sold me on him even more. As for favorite frames, personally, I main Harrow. He's always got something to do, and he allows me to contribute to my team, even if I'm out of my depth in a certain mission. That with the extra fire rate, constant easy shields, and red crits just makes him really fun for me. I like it when a character's whole kit synergizes with itself, and Harrow is exactly that. Sure, he's not the best frame, and he has been powercrept (and he also demands quite a bit of focus). But he just offers something that nobody else really does. Even if his farm is a right pain in the ass. Besides, if I want to play more relaxed, I always have frames like Styanax.

@GameMiestro Жыл бұрын
I love the ability to just not have to constantly dump mental energy into survival, it's such an underrated skill that you can't measure strictly in DPS numbers and build statistics. Grendel is another fantastic example of a frame that can do this- a full shield recovery build on him recovers his shieldgate so fast you can literally AFK in the middle of a Steel Path survival mission, check the mail, make a sandwich, come back a minute later and still see him facetanking a dozen lv 200+ enemies without seeing his health even go down a tick. How many other frames can passively ignore damage this hard realistically? Even Revenant's mesmer skins will run out, Octavia's invisibility needs regular interactive refreshing, and any frame that depends on ability spam to survive will get shredded almost immediately if you don't constantly pay attention to their shields. The feeling of comfort from knowing you don't have to babysit a frame constantly to keep them from being instantly vaporized is incredibly freeing gameplay-wise. The only other frames with that level of passive, extremely low management survivability are Ivara and certain extremely durable health tanks like Inaros and Lavos mentioned here.

They just don’t understand how well he balances between support, CC, tankiness, stopping power, mobility, and heavy weapon usage. I have seen his 4 hit well over 10 million on some targets, and with air burst subsumed, I can group enemies, use 1, 3, and 1, and have 4 ready to go within 5 seconds of using it.

@bugsmith9751 Жыл бұрын
i would personally argue that his 2 is his second strongest just because it leaves plumes of lingering status effects and when it ends it does a large radial burst that scales with ability range, but the only subsume i use on him is golden instinct on a loot build, which replaces his 1

In other words: Frames are like a car - sure, a car that’s faster out of the factory than another is superficially better and you can make tier list about it till your blue in the face. But with enough practice and understanding of its quirks and handling, and optimizing what you got under the hood, can practically make anything you use be better than any stock choice.

As a new player who’s been playing for 2 weeks, I need to go get Lavos. Granted, I don’t have many warframes unlocked, but I haven’t really found one that speaks to me yet. I’m crafting my first prime frame, khora prime, right now, but Lavos is definitely up next on my to do list

I use Lavos as my main. I've Helminthed Nourish over Vial Rush and added Combat Discipline as one of my mods. Then I have Cedo, Kuva Nukor and Broken War. I've stacked as many elements as possible. I fire the Cedo glaive then immediately switch to my Nukor to get as many elements on the enemies as possible. It makes Catalyse go off like a nuke.

I’ve been in love with Lavos ever since I bothered to learn him myself. He’s up in my top 3 frames with Mag and Gauss

The whole thing about health tanking is so real. Warframe is a game play for long periods of time and sometimes I want to be able to look to my other screen, tab out, or walk away. I was a wisp main since she came out for that exact reason. I love being able to just slap down something and afk and still be useful. I also love playing Trinity and I've recently been playing so much citrine. There's certain bits of content like archon hunts and what not where wisp is fantastic but she can just get one hit if you get complacent. I built my citrine in such a way that i can just face tank everything, it's wonderful. I've been able to afk for minutes at a time so I could get food or whatever. She's so non committal and convenient to use.

This is my favorite of your videos. I don't main any frame and bounce around based on moods... I think I may try Lavos more.

This certainly is an eye opener. Think I might give Lavos another chance. I’ve been looking for an adaptable comfort frame.

We all have a frame that we start playing and just like the way he plays, a confort frame of sorts, i went from ash, harrow, titania, nekros, Vauban and now I'm starting to like a lot Gauss

Lavos has another thing going for him that i find nice; subsumed abilities actually make him _weaker._ His kit has all the versatility you need becauae if you play the Debuff game like I do, losing an element to work with is like a gut punch. Don't like vial rush? You get no viral. Dont like probe? You get no radiation and corrosive. Etc etc. Lavos does best vanilla, to fully take advantage of these (surprisingly) strong debuff effects.

It's cool that Lavos exist because if anyone wasn't happy about enegy for casts instead of cooldowns wel there you have it, Lavos. For me personaly, I'm just not at a point in game or mental capacaty to bother even thinking about different elements so I had abit of fun with him and moved on to try out different frames. Might cicle back at some point once I have tried out all the warframes that interst me, which is most if not all. Unless I find something that really speaks to me, for whihc I have a few candidates though, nothing fits perfectly just yet.

I've stopped using lavos as my comfortable frame since I picked up dagath, but he was my comfort frame for a long time because I don't actually enjoy spamming abilities most of the time and as a frame he just doesn't need to. Sure, you can get a lot of damage out of his 4 or chain cc two entire rooms with his 2, but just having a heal on demand with his 1 and status immunity from his passive made him the perfect choice as a weapons platform, since that was how I used him.
@Gnurklesquimp2 Жыл бұрын
I just realized that, while he doesn't get energy to shields, he can totally still use shield regen mods/arcanes/sentinel mods etc. I'm a big fan of having some kind of shield regen solution even on hp tanks as it acts as a fresh multiplier (Only take hp dmg x amount of the time), and it can be used to great effect when played around deliberately. It's especially comfy when big bursts of dmg only happen sometimes, like when CC is down for a sec.
@yeoldpubman9 ай бұрын
Since he doesn't need Zenurik or have any desperate need for Unairu's tools, I use Vazarin on him for Guardian Shell/Break. When you run into the odd supertanky enemy that doesn't explode to your abilities you can throw up the shell and outright facetank them for 20 seconds straight. The other tools it offers are super comfy too, spot-healing and CC, faster revives for QoL, it's so good.

I just wish the element you chose stayed selected. It would be such a huge QoL improvement.

For me, Oberon is my "main" warframe, for a lot of the same reasons. He's not as adaptable as Lavos, but in terms of resilience and unobtrusiveness I'd say it's similar. With Phoenix Renewal running, I can do mostly what I want without focusing on staying alive. I do love apple pies, but not as much as some others, especially banana cream or pecan pie.

Comfort picks are definitely something I love about this game. For me, mine is Ivara. I have three different builds I use for her based on mission types, and use her for basically everything but stationary Defense missions. (I say stationary because for the defense where you protect an operative, stealth bubble takes them off the enemy's radar) My total 50% game time on ivara/ivara prime helps prove this, haha. Yeah, she might not be the best frame, and can die to a stiff breeze in most situations, but if you use her right she'll never even be shot at, even while not invisible.

my go to for railjack just for the sheer comfort of exchanging energy management to cooldowns just to not press more keys at a time

Personally, I have been a huge fan of Nezha and Baruuk for the longest time for much the same reasons. The latter especially, as he has a downright silly amount of ways to reduce incoming damage, all of which require little deliberation. As such, you can hook him up to two Tauforged Amber shards set for parkour velocity, subsume his 1 with a buff, and you've got yourself a frame that can do absolutely anything you want, including being able to stay healthy in the Circuit up until roughly level 2000, which happens to be the point where you probably should bail anyway (because Defense).
@NyancyCat10 ай бұрын
This is pretty similar to my reasoning for Nezha as a go-to; his chakram gives him some unique mobility and can get him around spaces i find tough to navigate otherwise (that one quarter circle room on the galleon tileset, for example), as well as being a great damage buff if I choose to use it. On top of that, its ability to make enemies shit health orbs like a rabbit on ex-lax makes Equilibrium a very attractive energy solution meaning he really doesn;t run out. His Halo makes him extremely survivable, and with his augment I can share that with teammates and defense objectives, which is especially useful in rad hazard sorties. His 4 provides solid crowd control, and functions as a nuke at low levels. He's comfortable to play at any level, and his deluxe skin makes him very enjoyable to look at while I do. He's got great generic utility, and his toolset makes him a solid pick for pretty much everything. I still switch it up pretty often, of course, and he's hardly perfect, but he's 100% my comfort pick.
@logical-tea1565 Жыл бұрын
Fellow Lavos main agrees here, especially on the weapon testing point. I test my weapon builds in SP and I always find Lavos to be the best weapon tester in missions seeing how he doesn’t affect the weapon’s performance, or if the weapon cannot kill SP enemies reliably then I can kill them with my abilities.
@NealStidham Жыл бұрын
Excellent points through and through! I'd add one meta-game reason he's such a good frame: he's easier to obtain than some of the much more obnoxious farms for other frames. He becomes available after Heart of Deimos, an earlier quest, and only requires up to rank 3 with the Entrati (one of the easiest syndicates to get standing with), making him accessible to newer players.
@DrewBoivie Жыл бұрын
Lavos actually can compose a sonnet, but you have to use the element Blast. 🙂
@DrewBoivie Жыл бұрын
It seems like with all the changes (especially to pets lately) there have to be some wild new Lavos synergies. Its nice that he's kinda tanky, but you really have to dig deep to make his abilities be relevant.
@ThorDude8 ай бұрын
Watching this after Dante OH MY GOD his new augment is so good. It turns him from a fun frame with a good 4 and decent utility on his other abilities, into an extremely strong elemental gunslinger.

Quick question, I've noticed that you've been hit at least once in the video by energy leaches, yet you didn't get the annoying magnetic proc, how? Are you using arcane nullifier or is there some other way to turn off at least it's visual part?
@TheKengineer Жыл бұрын
Lavos has status immunity for 10 seconds on picking up an energy/universal orb. Between that and Wyrm Prime in some clips, that's what's doing it.
@slyth0196 Жыл бұрын
When lavos picks up an energy/universal orb, he gains a few seconds of status immunity, it may not be the reason in the vid, but its a reason
@TheGigaByte1010 Жыл бұрын
That's Lavos' passive, when he picks up an energy orb he gets 10 sec of status immunity. There is a cool interaction with his 3rd that transmutes health orbs into universal orbs and if you have a way to pick up health orbs at full health, such as the synth fiber mod you basically have full status immunity forever
@danielssss1342 Жыл бұрын
@@TheKengineer ah I forgot that's his passive XD. And here I thought that maybe there's a way to turn off the magnetic visual effect
