NIGHT ONE my freshmen year of college, after DESTROYING THE dining hall mac and cheese I had NEVER in my LIFE, had to let one rip so badly, it was PAINFUL. But sharing a room with a gal I didn’t know and being top BUNK? It would be a sin to let that bubble go free. Where to go? The bathroom? NO! Why because you share a bathroom with 20 other GIRLS, its never empty! Who KNOWS what scent would exit me, cushioning it was also not an option. What to do? I had to go outside in the middle of the dorm quad and let her rip. The AGONY I felt that day haunts me 4 years later.

No privacy makes it easier to snitch on each other. Keep an eye on the social ranking and punishments. Same thing in the GDR. No privacy. Stasi had surveillance on everyone. This all depends on what type of university or what type of housing you request in American university. I shared a room with someone at first, but I never had a communal bathroom (ew lol).i shared a bathroom with my roommate. But this year, I requested my own room and my own bathroom. Plus, college was free to me, because I got a full ride due to my financial aid and grades. My university even gave me money back every semester. Plus I had kitchen when I was with my roommate, and I have my own kitchen now by myself. It just depends. Not every American university is the same.

On our American uni's often the Dorm buildings are known as a certain Hall, so you would answer, "Where is your dorm?", with "Oh, I'm in Smith Hall." for example. Publicly funded state uni's have standardized rules such as 'no heating elements or fire' in student rooms. You can have mini-fridges and microwaves,(sometimes). Often there are common rooms and kitchens in each Hall or sometimes more than one if you are willing to pay the $$. Private uni's have a bit more posh digs but their rules still have to abide by whatever fire codes are used in that city. Also, most uni's have apartments for married couples or students with children. They are fully functional with stoves, ovens, etc... Uni is hard for anyone with social anxiety although for some people it helps them to develop the coping mechanisms they need. For those with crippling social anxiety just being in a classroom is traumatic. Thankfully more and more uni's are developing distance-learning programs.

I lived in a apartment style dorm and I didn’t share a room but i did share a bathroom with one other person, also shared a kitchen with 3 others. So the dorms depends on what you can afford and/or what your college/university have.

You ever look at someone and you just get this feeling that you would be like the bestest of friends? Like you can feel your personalities and vibes and “style of friendship” just match perfectly? And then you remember there’s like no chance you’ll ever get to test the theory and you become really sad?

I would love to see your other build! Also, I could never share a room with someone else. I really need my space and a place to be on my own. Luckily our dorms in Germany are either single rooms, witch bathroom and kitchen or like flats with up to 5 bedrooms and shared bathrooms and kitchen.

The flat situation is pretty similar to us in the UK. The only difference is if you are in a nicer, more modern set of halls you could pay more for a room that comes with an en-suite bathroom. Has much as I loved hanging out with my flat mates in our shared kitchen I agree with Plumbella on this one in that I could not have done the shared bathroom thing 😄. I saw the way my flat mates used to leave the kitchen lol. I did have friends though who went for the cheaper option of having both shared spaces.

I'm excited for your new save file as much as I am for this expansion pack. Lived in a dorm with a roommate for all 4 years in uni. It wasn't an amazing experience but it wasn't bad either. It was just ok. I got along more with other people living on the same floor than my room mate. Also bringing your own TV is the perfect ice breaker. First week of my freshmen year, I already had a couple of people asking if they could watch (American) football. By the game's end I was already friends with 5 other people from the dorm.

I was actually an RA briefly(I'm from America) and dorms are all different. We had standard resident halls that you shared unless you paid for a private room. Or you paid extra money like ~1500$ more~ to live in the resident halls that were apartment like. OR the ones that were more communal in nature. There was a lot of variation

Bathroom stall gaps are rarely big enough that you can just casually see much through them. You can usually see just enough to know that someone is in there and that's it. You'd have to go up to the stall and stare in up close.

I am from France and we don't have dorms in University. University is just a place where you study and then you go back to your own flat (usually a studio), we don't really have any clubs either. The closest thing to dorms we have are the CROUS' flats (the crous is the organism that gives money and flats to the poorest students) because they're basically just a tiny room with a tiny bathroom and an oven but most people don't live here and I still wouldn't call it a dorm

When I went to college they had something called supplemental housing in the dorms...not one roommate, but five NOT including yourself! All in one room! Having 1-2 roommates was often a luxury. Our bathroom was basically a public restroom with showers and one cursed bathtub in the middle of the room for some unknown reason (no, it was not covered, it was just there, like a strange modern art piece). Imagine the farts in that room, Plumbella

as an american, i went from a triple suite in first year (meaning 2 bedrooms in one apartment, each one with 3 people to a room so 6 total), then a double dorm with a shared floor bathroom, then a double university apartment (2 bedrooms w two people in each), then spent my last year abroad in brighton and my lord when i tell you it was a BLESSING, i have NEVER had my own room AND bathroom before that or after, it should be like that EVERYWHERE

I can't wait to build my dorm in the sims 4 :D I was only in there for a year but i shared with my boyfriend, we had our own bathroom, our own kitchen and a (somewhat) seperate bedroom. (I've heard it's changed in the meantime tho. I think i remember that the single rooms (i had a double) now no longer have their own kitchenettes and instead have to share one (they still have their own fridges tho)

Fortunately, my dorm wasn't like the traditional American dorms. We had separate bedrooms with a shared living space and bathroom. Each room held 2 individuals, either 2 girls or 2 guys, you couldn't share a room, but the whole dorm was co-ed so you could have male or female neighbors kinda like an apartment. Then there was a shared laundry room on either the 1st or 2nd floor like a laundromat. And a common area in the middle that was connected by stairs on the sides and an elevator in the middle.

Very nice build. Believe it or not, many public universities in America are more like British ones now, at least in terms of dorms. I had my own room first year in college and my own apartment the next three. All of the on-campus housing save one dorm was more apartment-style, and the student housing at my graduate institution was the same way. And yes, middle school is a special level of hell.

For those who want ovens in their dorms: just put them on the lot normally. When you click on live mode, a warning will pop up saying that there are restricted items on the lot and if you still want to continue or something along those lines. Just click accept and you can have ovens on you lot and everything functions normally. At least that's how it works for me.

American at uni in Scotland ~ up here actually a lot of people share rooms! I have no clue how they do it though. But here there’s everything ranging from shared with no bathroom, single with no bathroom, to single en-suite (and maybe shared en-suite but I don’t actually know). Personally I live in the TINIEST room, but don’t share it with anyone and don’t have my own bathroom.
