Yeah, due to the playstyle, Kazuha is basically required. Xiangling can be swapped out for Klee, but is significantly harder to use

Hydro Traveler sure is a let down. That doesn't stop me from using him though and I've made his kit work but not on Abyss. I straight up skipped Neuvillette because of how OP he is but now that I got Furina, I think is time to revert back to Dendro Traveler so I can run him with her. Now, people might call me out since Furina seems to be OP too but 1. Nowhere near as much as Neuvillette and 2. After playing the Archon Quest AND Character Quest, I just HAD to get her.

The fact that it feels like the people responsible for designing the traveler elements are stuck in the game's beta is a real disappointment. With what we know of the story quest and how the traveler's powers likely take after the elemental dragons instead of the archons, there is so much potential for their kits. Hydro traveler redesign could have been something along the lines of making a thin beam of highly pressurized water instead of the super soaker we got, and following Neuvilette's attack alignment the traveler's burst could have been a pneuma-aligned hydro sword that falls in a giant aoe (and could have foreshadowed the sword that fell in the story quest). To further incorporate the sourcewater droplet mechanic, the amount of hp restored by the droplets could factor into how strong the burst becomes - maybe absorbing the droplets and making smaller swords alongside the burst for every 2k hp restored up to a max of 5 at 10k hp restored. There is just so much potential for the traveler kits that it is genuinely disappointing how useless the main character is. Looking to the Honkai franchise, Kiana and Caelus/Stelle actually have usable and good kits despite the other much more powerful units we have. Including them on your team is not a meme strategy, they're actually good units (especially with Kiana just getting more powerful alts as the series goes on, which looks to be the same for star rail's mc).

I like my lumine a lot and like her hydro better then her dendro (not jocking). still I must admit anemo is better then her hydro on every single aspect. for starter the light attack. practicaly the same. where anemo traveler is better here, is thanks to the anemo slash at the last hit. hydro's slash are purely physical, while anemo deal at least a tiny bit more in the form of anemo damage (just like geo. too bad electro, dendro and hydro don't do this). the skill forces the traveler in place. sure anemo can be boosted in a way that help preventing interupt, so does hydro thanks to the c4 shield. where anemo is better here, is the following. anemo can regenerate traveler by killing with the skill. hydro can sure regenerate more health with the droplet then the skill can self damage, but what use is it if traveler get killed because a massive hit was receive at half health. traveler can't regenerate from death with those droplet. only from damage. as for the ultimate, pretty much everything was said in the video. still, there are 2 exceptions I'd like to mention. azdaha and scaramouche (only phase 1 in scaramouche's case) they are so big that they actualy can take the totality of the ultimate on it's travel. on a side note, the hydro traveler is the only traveler with enough range with his skill to attack dvalin while he's flying. still, a bow would be preferable.

HMC could have a much cooler kit. The stuff they've done with recent characters shows that they are still pumping out unique things and HMC feels like an afterthought. Change the burst to gravitate towards the nearest enemy and replace the 4th ascension passive with one that increases the size and damage of the burst up to a cap based on maximum HP. Aquacrest saber should function as a diet version of Neuvillette's charged attack, allowing traveler limited movement during the hold version and letting them pick up droplets while casting. This kit wouldn't be overpowered and would be a lot more fun while also synergizing well with Furina, who they gave the most versatile kit in the game. It feels like they wanted to make HMC intentionally bad and clunky for some reason.

The fact that Hydro MC looked more useless in this teamcomp than Aloy and Candace in their videos tells a lot about the kit. Like, if the bubble at least got stuck on enemies, she could at least be used as a decent hydro applicator, although it still wouldn't be an S tier character due to the icd problem.

Given the total damage dealt, hmc is a bit better than Aloy (though that's not saying much), but worse than Candace. I have no idea why this kit even exists at this point, devs will probably buff it with some artifact set for the channeling ability, but even then it doesn't make much sense

@@VictorIbelles it's a long time I think that all aloy need to be a decent character are two change: 1) the skill launch all the bomb forward 2) her brust have a bigger AOE. This because of 1) Her skill could be good with her passive, but she need to hit with all the bombs, that's hard when the bombs are all in different directions unless you are surrounded. Even then it's not a simple thing. 2) her brust is a single target, single hit but with a large AOE type of damage, so if her AOE was larger it could be used at very least on groups of mobs as CC

People say HydroMc is bad because they don't understand their kit. HydroMc is clearly meant to be played as a support. If you don't believe me, just look at the video and how efficiently Lumine cheered Kazuha, Bennett and Xiangling on, she provided so much moral support to them that they managed to beat the floors with what was basically a 3 person team and mostly just pyro! She's a pure support character, I tell you!

Before Fontaine- I still had hope that the dendro mc wasn't a mistake, but a story related improvement; a hint that the mc's kits would get better as they journeyed through Teyvat. Not that you'd expect them to ever truly compete with limited five stars, but at least their kits wouldn't be so difficult to use, or at least worth building, but it's clear how wrong I was. I've built most of the traveler variations, but I got so disheartened trying to build hydro mc; I had no idea, beyond leveling the talents, what I was meant to be aiming for. Then I came to youtube in hopes of trying to find inspiration... It's rare that the genshin community agrees wholeheartedly on something, but the HMC being bad is pretty much a consensus that everyone's reached. The most frustrating thing for me, and any other traveler mains out there, is that their problems will never be addressed. They aren't going to get a dedicated support, they aren't going to get their own artifact set, and their buggy kit isn't going to get fixed. Don't get me wrong, there are other characters that don't get that kind of attention, but I can't think of any other character that has to chase after their burst to make get the most out of their damage... except for anemo mc.

I don't get why her c6 doesn't let you make it stand still. That or charge it up using the skill. Either making the radius bigger due to the bubble growing or make it pop,doing a damage equal to multiple of the hits. Something cool like that

They could also do sort of a combo where the bubble gets heavier as you charge it. Slowing it to a stand still. Then once it's fully charged you can use the travelers blast at the end of the skill to pop it. Making it more useful based on the situation. The slow for hydro application and the pop for raw damage vaporize.

To be fair we have a lot of characters that are good while ignoring helf their kit. Xiangling and hu tao come to mind, you only care about the burst for the former and the skill for the latter. Theres also a bunch of er hungry characters like yae who dont burst every rotation and they are still fine

I don't get why the hydro burst is so small, change the base speed to what it is with the constellation and instead make that easily double it (possibly the initial size is larger too) and that would be so much better, or hell maybe even a unique feature where it grows larger the longer its out/more damage it does/other factors would be super unique and cool! I didn't realize just how similar the skill was to the anemo mcs but can maybe let that slide due to differences in range and stuff.

Surprised basically no one makes any mention of Diluc's burst. Sure, it might move a bit too fast, but you can effectively achieve the same result as using Kazuha's skill to pull enemies into HMC's burst even if that's the case.

Its very different, Diluc burst drags all the small enemies with it, so they still get damaged. Granted it is only for small enemies, it still works and the damage is Okay. While this, even if it slow, it just keep moving away and do bad damage and nothing else.

The fact that HMC's burst can go through the geo serpent knight's shield is actually good but that's about the only good thing on it being unstoppable. Yes you can make it work but at what price. I leveled up my HMC's talents right after Lynette's because that's what I always do. I did not go as far as to crown them, 8/8/8 is good enough for me. But then I switched it back to Dendro because I use DMC in Nilou team. No reason to waste the best MC we got so far, especially if I really like playing that team too. Personally I think it's completely fair that we have to level up all MC's talents separately, they're different talents after all. And for anyone beyond AR45 it's just a couple of days' worth of resoures so I don't even see it as a problem.

Tbh, i feel hmc's burst wouldve been so much better if it acted similarly to ayaka's where it would slow to nearly a stop when hitting enemies. Then i could see it being used as a banger f2p burst support for permafreeze ayaka. Id argue that it wouldnt even need to be changed where it would get stuck on constructs then. Although mc's icd is such a pain sometimes in general.

For freeze, icd wouldn't have been much of a problem since you don't have to reapply the element often. I just don't get why anyone thought that a burst designed like this would have been a good idea, it's extremely frustrating that hydro traveler couldn't get at least a usable kit (though it is possible that an artifact set down the line makes the character "better")

I really like this video. You show the best way how to play Hydro traveler. You do say he/she is not usless wich is already good for my mind. I have also made a decent team with hydro MC which ngl focused on C6 Diona (200 em bonus) and C6 Fichel and a 1000 em Nahida(which gives 250 em with burst) which I then use hydro MC skill and average of 1500k per dewdrop I am expecting 2500k at the end of the build (her skill talent level is currently 6) id never use in abyss but it works for all bosses in non abyss content and anything else I come across I personally love it miss lil dolphin 🐬

A lot of the comments are about how bad Hydro Traveler is, and while I do think that they aren't good as well and wish they were better, I want to say first off that I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one who had the idea to CC enemies into Hydro Traveler's Burst! The Burst is like 60% of Hydro Traveler's potential damage, and that's before taking into account that it's AoE while the Skill is mostly single-target, so I do think it would be a mistake to write it off instead of trying to maximize the hits it can get. tbh I haven't gotten the chance to test out how well Kazuha's Skill can pull enemies into Hydro Traveler Burst since I actually haven't explored Fontaine yet, and it looks like it could be a bit clunky. There are still a few issues with teambuilding with Hydro Traveler if you want to use his Burst as primarily a damage-dealing tool the way you'd use Ayaka's. Most characters that aim to do a lot of Elemental Burst DMG but have 80 Energy Bursts (Xiangling, Beidou, Ayaka, Eula) really want to be used with a battery, so I'd expect Hydro Traveler to be the same way. This means you'd probably want to run double Hydro, otherwise the amount of ER you have to run on Hydro Traveler hurts their damage quite a bit. Xingqiu and Yelan are the obvious choices, but may make the Kazuha setup a bit more challenging because you have to weave in Normal Attacks. On the other hand, Yelan could make the setup easier by using her Skill to quickly move through the enemies and get in front of Hydro Traveler's Burst. This only leaves us with one spot left for a flex, probably Bennett although I'm open to other options on this. Worth noting that both C6 Hydro Traveler and Xingqiu have minor healing abilities and defensive utility which might allow you to forgo a dedicated healer if you can play well. On the gameplay side of things, I think R3/4+ Sacrificial Sword Kazuha is the way to go. You really want the Sacrificial Sword reset to occur when you're doing the combo with Hydro Traveler's Burst which means that at the start of the fight, you'd want to avoid using his Skill until you've cast Hydro Traveler's Burst. The other thing to consider is tap vs hold Skill on Hydro Traveler. Hold Skill can only be used once per rotation, which means it only gives 3.3 Hydro particles per rotation which is pretty bad. (𝘉𝘶𝘵 you can get extra Energy from their Sourcewater Droplets, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 this Energy doesn't get boosted by Energy Recharge.) Tap Skill can be used twice per rotation, but you lose out on the Sourcewater Droplets for Energy and healing at C6. There is a third option which is to use a 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 hold Skill twice per rotation, which will extend the rotation by a few seconds but also generate Sourcewater Droplets. Last think I want to mention is that Hydro Traveler is not bad against all bosses. Ruin Serpent, Setekh Wenut, and Golden Wolflord can be hit by all 14 hits from Hydro Traveler's Burst when stunned. The others won't take all the hits, but the Burst is still effective against bosses like the Aeonblight Drake, Jadeplume Terrorshroom, and surprisingly, ASIMON. This is all armchair theorycrafting, since as I mentioned I haven't actually explored Fontaine enough to get the Constellations necessary to make this work, but once I get the chance this is all stuff I'm interested in trying out. Again, I don't think Hydro Traveler is very good, but I think there's some potential here that other people have missed. Such is the fate when you're not a popular subject of theorycrafting.
