Disconnected from earth and leaving your troubles behind. That's exactly the same feeling I had every time I flew as a passenger. My first contact with planes was when we went living in Congo because of my fathers job. I was 7y old and we flew with a B-707 to FZAA from sabena. Later on I worked for sabena as OPS. I lived in Congo till my 17y and then we went back to Belgium. I miss Africa!

My first flight was from Shanghai to Sydney in 1997 by China Eastern Airline. Because I was 12yrs old, don't have parents or legal guardian travel with me, I was taken care of by a stewardess and later by the captain as my "temp" guardians - who also invite me to take a sit on the first officer's Chair and played a spelling game - back then my English was horrible. until this day, I still remember the smell of hot towel (like KFC's corn Kennel), the thunder light in between the clouds and the leather textile chair in the control room I've sat on. Now, I live close to Sydney Airport, seeing the airplane goes up and down from my balcony have always brought up the memory of my first flight.

I am one of those people who are afraid of flying. The first times I flew I also had panic attacks, but slowly they started to disappear. The last time I flew was in September, but although I flew several times, staying there still scares me, even if a little less. Since I discovered your channel, slowly I started to 'get excited' in discovering the different airlines you've reviewed, discover new ones, see what they offer. But what struck me in your videos is not only the quality, but the way you describe the context, making it look like what we see from a screen, so close to us, as if the viewer were in your own context. I am glad I have flown for many years with United. You are correct flying is a great..And yes I have flown on the DC-10s and 727-200s back in 1999....I have wanted to be on aircraft ever since living in New York and living close to JFK. And yes we lived on one of the aircraft approaches but to see the Concorde ( British Airways and Air France) were so great...The passion is still there for me as well...I love aircraft in general. Sam, I've been watching your videos with great interest. You said something that was particularly relevant to me: that there is a certain romance with planes that is hard to quantify (mine is the 747 as well). It really summed up why I too, have been captivated by flying since I was a little girl watching my dad take off in a Qantas 747 each month from Sydney. I took my first flight much later - at 24 and I have been hooked ever since. Sometimes J class, mostly Y - and F class still eludes me! But the thrill and intoxicating power of a beautiful metal bird roaring down a runway as it gains momentum to lift off, is something I never tire of. Nor do I ever take it for granted. Love your passion for the work you do!

Every time when i feel homesick as a ofw i watch your video flying in different airlines and country. I miss my family why back in the Philippines. It was dream to have a flight in a business class. Sam seems we share the same hobby and passion about planes. even though I grew up in a small town in rural Ghana (West Africa) where planes are not soo common, I always step out of the house to look out at planes flying above. We have an air force base here and occasionally Airforce pilots undergo training with their air force planes. I used to sit out in the hot sun all afternoon to watch them pass. Even as a grown man in my thirties, over 50% of all the youtube videos i've watched are all about planes. I could stay up all night to watch planes that had family members on them on flightradar 24. I have a couple of flight sims on my phone and on my laptop. Its rather unfortunate I couldn't achieve my childhood dream of being a pilot. Bur anyway, I love your channel and congratulations in making your hobby your job. Hope to meet you one day. Cheers mate.
