Have u seen the new feature in iOS 17? It’s called assistive access… it makes ur phone into as dumb off a phone as u want. Like just calling access, or u can add msg if u want, etc. it let’s u pick what apps u can use n that’s it… It’s basically a locked down version. Although it is an eyesore, it helps u not use ur phone even more…

No I haven’t heard of that. That’s actually pretty useful, thanks for letting me know!

Thanks for mentioning that. I looked for a demo video on KZbin. It looks like it would be a cool option for a lot of people.

It is easy to turn an iphone into a dumb phone. Just "delete" all apps except for call, text, and navigation. The bloat can't actually be deleted, but it can be hidden.

Bloatware can be deleted in Android devices by universal Android debloater.. that's why android is better

I did this multiple times in the past and always come back to the "normal" use (addictive)... For some people, like me, the solution is get rid of it.

what about a dumb-computer?
@StopMessinAround75 Жыл бұрын
I do restrict access to a lot of apps and websites on computer, but personally I use my computer for this channel and multiple hobbies. I don't believe it to be harmful since it's stuck in one place (or if you have a laptop, you'd have to take the effort to take it out of your backpack).

why not sell your iPhone and get a dump phone?
@StopMessinAround75 Жыл бұрын
Only problem with that would be that I use my iphones camera on a daily basis for my youtube haha!

Yeah for people who use their phone for work, it's not possible. I need slack, whatsapp and camera for work, so I installed a minimalist launcher and blocked all social media apps. It's great now.

Great ideas. Thanks, I will integrate some of them. I have have a Nokia 225, mp3 player and an iPhone SE. I have used the Nokia for several 1 month stints. I have gone back and forth between phones honestly. Trying to dial in the best setup. My latest and probably best modifications are 1: when at home plug the phones into the charger in the dinning room and don’t carry them around. Use the computer as needed for internet tasks. 2: I switched from an unlimited data plan to an mvnu with call, text and 1 gb data. It cost me in total 85 ish dollars for the whole year of service. This way when I am out of the house I am forced to save the data for just in case situations, but it is there. Podcasts can be downloaded say once a week in a few minutes at home. MP3s can be made off my cd collection.
