G9 rocks, I thought about upgrading to the GH6 but decided to stay put, the G9 is an engineer marvel in my opinion. Great video, I need a simpler rig, but this was very informative, thanks

Yeah! I have been slowly upgrading from this rig as well. With things like v mount batteries which is a huge game changer!

yes, the G9 is an engineering marvel. I just bought one in 2022 and it doesn't feel dated. I am actually shocked at what can be done with this camera.

I shoot a lot of small social media post in 4:3 just because of the fact it can be in "6K" and is an amazing camera. Trying to get my hands on the GH6 in the near future hopefully.

Thanks for making this video. I have a Ronin SC that I barely use. I enjoy the look but loath adjusting it and worrying about batteries. I’ve always been interested in rigs as I prefer to handhold but just never pulled the trigger. With ibis, especially from the g9, you could potentially have the best of both worlds having a rig and smooth shots.

🤷🏼♂️ I don’t know I would be more concern on specs required for streaming platforms. Most require C4K like Netflix and the G9 can’t shoot that

@freezedtube2 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewDangyou Ah no, I'm talking about more budget alternatives like NP-F + dummy. I know that it works with GH5, but there is no information if it works with G9.

Ah! Gotcha! Yeah I haven’t tried any np-f battery alternatives for my monitors, but I am using some Panasonic batteries to power my camera alternatives that are working just as good as the original camera battery if that answers your question?

Hello. Thank you for your video. I'm thinking about buying a camera for under $1400-$1500, and so far I didn't find anything better than G9. I need a camera, mostly for shooting movies with a comparatively good performance in low-light scenes. In 90% of cases, I will use it for movies, and short videos, and only in 10% of cases for photography. Could you please suggest to me should I take the G9 or if there's a better device? Thank you.
@MatthewDangyou2 жыл бұрын
Hey! For photos, ibis, auto focus, and videos the G9 honestly rock! If you can get this camera with a couple different lenses that would be the best-case scenario. I would also consider though looking into a used GH5 mark 2 since that offer 4k 60fps 10 bit internally and anamorphic mode allowing you to shoot 4:3 format without needing to hack it. If you really want the G9 you can probably find one for $900, get a kit lens, Panasonic 25mm for about $150, if you want a cine lens like the Meike 25mm those are really nice at $400. Or you would be able to rig it out like crazy with a monitor, top handle, and all the other goods! I am super happy with it! The 4k 60 fps in 8 Bit in Cinelike D looks really amazing still and on client shoots I have had no issues using that. The only downfall is a 30-minute record limit in 4k 24fps and 10 minutes in 4k 60fps which I personally never had issues with before. If you can get a used Gh5 mark 2 for $1000 I would do that! But the G9 in my own opinion does have the best ibis, autofocus, and photos out of all the micro 4/3 cameras besides the GH6. Hoped that helped

@Matthew Dangyou Thank you so much. You've helped me a lot. I've been concentrated mostly on mobile filmmaking, and this field is completely new for me. @@TracerPavo Yeah! I personally am planning on getting another meike cine lens probably the 50mm to have something different because of how high quality class it is. But it is all in manual focus! I am working on a bunch of videos right now, but one in the queue is about my smaller camera rig I have been constructing and what is in my filmmaking backpack! Let me know what you end up deciding, and if you reach out and what to chat sometime to ask questions about the G9 DM on Instagram!

@@MatthewDangyou how do you get jobs?
@MatthewDangyou2 жыл бұрын
@@jas.cinema Great question, the answer is not super simple though... Word of mouth and doing work for free in the beginning definitely helps. Then trying to land a meeting with a client instead of selling them your services when you are cold calling/emailing/messaging them on social is better to talk to fellow humans. I always suggest having a conversation to show them you are serious, professional, and care about their business rather than simply saying "what your services are, here is my price, do you want to shoot a video" And being consistent with reaching back to people, talking with them consistently, trying to land the first meeting with them. Help solve a problem with them, then when you shoot with them try to keep the door open, be friendly with them, take them out to lunch to keep business going. Hope that helped a little haha sorry it was long!
