@hans_mods i can't recommend it enough. With the most recent firmware the fp will recognize 4tb drives. I have a bunch of 2 TB ones and I can swap them in and out quickly. When I am shooting photos I have near unlimited space, and when I shoot 4k DNG I can shoot about an hour and a half before swapping. Sometimes I am away from a computer and one camera will be shooting B roll for over an hour and if I am shooting in 4k DNG on the main camera I will shoot it on the b cam too. I need to get one more hnlandle for the S1H as it can shoot some good 6k external.

The FP is small, fun, high quality. It’s not for everyone. The electronic shutter is the main negative for me. The autofocus is not very good but it’s ok with the slower sigma contemporary lenses. Anyway, I prefer to use it with adapted manual focus lenses usually. I think the FP is better than the L because no AA filter and the write times with the electronic shutter.

For the longevity of the SSD card, I am guessing you have to use a weather cover to protect the DPL holder from the rainy days. If you are hiking, it might be useful. The price is high but to my surprise the M42.10 SSD holder is actually made of Aluminium apparently, I thought it was cheap plastic so that's definitely a kudos to DPL. By the look of it it is not weather sealed. The WD SN770M and adapter is a great idea. You cannot go cheap with SSD, I have just ordered a 2TB and it cost around USD 180.00 from Amazon (free delivery)

Nice video, even more temped to get an FP now lol Just a small side note, but judging from the infrared mark it seems like you have an early 8-element Takumar 50/1.4 (nice!). Unlike later, more common 7-element versions, that one does in fact not have any thorium coated lens elements, and is not radioactive. Pentax introduced the thorium coating (that provided improved transmission) to achieve an (almost) equivalent 7 element lens that was less expensive to manufacture than the initial 8 element design.

I heard in a comment you used this in heavy rain and snow and it's fine? I just installed the DPL flip screen mod and I am concerned given how exposed the body is now. Did you use precuations such as a large rain hood or did the rain just not seep in?
@hans_mods15 күн бұрын
@@foliumcore I didn’t use any protection but I didn’t just let the camera soak in water either. I used it with caution and wiped it clean right after I was done shooting. The camera already have exposed ventilation so the screen mod isn’t gonna make its water resistance worse in my opinion.

Hi Han, great systems you have built there. Question for you about the DPL fp EVF SSD rack M42: Do you have to leave the camera slot empty for the DPL SSD to be recognized? Does the camera recognized it automatically? Can you still use the native camera slot in addition? Or do you have to scroll through the camera menu to add the DPL SSD device? Sorry I hope I am not confusing but I have not received the camera yet so I don't know how its interface works. I hear Sigma has released quite a few firmware versions so I am just wondering how the camera detect a new new device such as the DPL SSD drive. The incentive to not have any wires running around makes this rack a must have really. Thanks for sharing.
@hans_mods23 күн бұрын
@@BonuxCouleur I have the latest firmware. The camera automatically recognizes the SSD when it’s plugged in. When you turn on the camera, it will take a second to connect to the SSD. You can still have an SD card in the camera slot but it won’t write into it unless you unplug the SSD. Hope I’ve explained it clear enough😊
