At 30 years old, Jasmine Taylor found herself with $60,000 worth of student loan debt and $9,000 in credit card and medial debt. Determined to get her finances back on track, she researched budgeting methods and found cash stuffing online. Two years later, cash stuffing has not only gotten Jasmine out of debt but also made her a very successful business owner. Baddies And Budgets brought in $850,000 in 2022 and is on track to hit $1 million in 2023.

She should teach her techniques to a local high school! I believe individuals that age don’t come across this type of content, on the contrary; we are not taught the importance of savings and getting financially organized since a young age. And we think investing and savings are things for who is already billionaire. I started saving money at 40 😅 I wish I had more financial culture and consciousness when I was younger.

Yeah but kids don't care it's not interesting to them it's only after you grow up and be an adult that people say "this should be taught in schools"!

@@ykook7000 Because adults don't make finance sound interesting and digestible for young people! I lived with a wealthy family for a while but no adult in my life ever taught me how to manage my own money, only kept mum or gave vague advice like "work hard, save more, spend less". It wasn't until I was in my early 20's that I started having interest in investing and financial management only because I found other people in my age range having that kind of interest on Discord. It helped make the subject feel less like a foreign concept to me as I'm slowly learning about this stuff and trying to make sense of it on my own.

@@ykook7000 Not completely true. I learned a bit about finances and savings in an 8th grade life studies class. I thought it was interesting and learned how to save some money, but my parents thought it was mumbo jumbo cuz they were stuck in their poverty mindset. Now at age 28, I’ve been implementing some of those saving techniques from that class and other sources, and have been able to cut our grocery bill in half, save on bills by cutting out things we don’t use or need, thinking twice before making a “want” purchase, etc. If my parents had taken my desire to save seriously then maybe we wouldn’t still be so poor even now. Point is, your environment can also make or break you.

This is what I did in college- not as sophisticated- but it helped me budget my way through art school debt free. I only allowed myself to spend whatever was in the “20s” and “10’s” columns of my paycheck. So if I had a $835 check, I was only allowed to spend $35!on myself that pay period. My hours shifted a lot, working extra when I could, so that varied week to week. Need to get back to this! Go girl, go!

This is awesome and congrats to her. Seems like this could be a great introductory way to also help parents teach their kids budgeting since the kids get to have some ownership by picking out the look of their binder and the categories most important to them. And because it’s in cash, it’s highly visible and also easy to spend when they’ve achieved their goals. Keep up the great work Jasmine!
