My favorite thing about those dunes is that they're close to Stovepipe Wells and a convenient place to get a beer after being sandblasted! And yes, there is nothing better than capturing a great image when it wasn't even on your agenda at the start of a shoot.

Stunning image! When were you guys there? Just went on a photography trip with a friend on the 19th. We loved it until the winds actually destroyed our tent on Tuesday night. Ibex was awesome. Our two dune days were actually very calm winds. I’ll def be back.

I love trying to get away from the classic golden hour light and trying to create with that sharp, hard sunlight. This past year I've been trying to create better images with hard light. It's challenging. I'm glad you challenged yourself here and used that hard light. Well done Sarah!

Don't take this the wrong way. This is a fantastic image, and your right, the sand and curves with shadows frosted with light brown sugar, is amazing. You and the dress are beautiful as always. For me, it is in your top 5 images. There are others I like better. It is a personal choice of color dynamics in the image. I like the expanse and contrasting color ranges in images. On a more interesting side note, you didn't finish telling your story of your night in shining armor you meet there. LOL 😊 Have a safe and fantastic trip across the pond!

How do you protect your equipment in the sand?

Do not change lenses when it is blowing around and that is pretty much it. All my gear is fine; I had it out & exposed to the conditions. I was cleaning out sand from my bag for a few days. Thanks for watching!
