Danie the finished product was phenomenal, it was better than it's ever been. That being said, from one furniture flipper to another, the sheer amount of prep work you put into that is so easily glossed over in a video. You put some SERIOUS hours of hard graft into prepping that piece. Even just stripping of the old varnish is a long & messy job. Huge kudos to you. You worked so hard & have created a genuine treasure.

You not only refinished, refurbished and restored this bookcase, you made it into a truly beautiful piece of furniture. I grew up with barrister bookcases -- my parents bought them secondhand to house our huge number of books (also bought secondhand). I didn't even think about those bookcases, they just were. If I had one of them now, I'd rent a truck, drive all the way to Toronto (500 miles) and beg you to do this again with my bookcase. Can I please please be an honorary mother or MIL?

It came out just gorgeous, I wouldn't change a thing. I have 2 oak four tiered bookcases & I always love that look. I may just have to wallpaper the insides now. I also have to repair one of the glass doors as the frame is pulling away from the glass. My last repair, the glue didn't hold up. Great work Danie. ❤

It looks fabulous and you did a great job! However, I have to be true to myself and note that, what for me, is the elephant in the room. At 16:17, it should be Stationery not Stationary. Although in this specific case it could a stationary stationery holder. Stationary and Stationery definitions - Stationary is an adjective described to use a person, object or situation that isn't moving or changing, while stationery is a noun used to describe a collection of office items such as envelopes, papers and cards. Beautiful quarter-sawn oak on that bookcase---I'm wondering if you considered using Howard's Restore-A-Finish instead of stripping & staining & sealing? I love all their products, I used the gloss tung oil on the magnificent oak woodwork in my previous house. This bookcase turned out absolutely gorgeous, there is nothing you could have done better. Looks so incredible! Just a tip for future copper (or other soft metal) polishing / scuffing, try steel wool. 0000 steel wool is the most fine grit, jeweler grade, and gives a nice soft luster. I bet that also would have worked nicely with the vinegar / salt combo ❤
