Growing up I watched my cousin write programs without a monitor back in the 80's. His computer had a speaker connected to it that would make noise when he typed so he could spot errors while typing and could read back his code in morse code (or something like that, it beeped a lot). He was able to use that to write a program that could print out his screen on his printer that he made from a an old daisy wheel typewriter. Nerds be crazy. He was big part in inspiring my love for computers, but unfortunately Im not an amazing freak like him. He went on to do so many awesome things.
@jeromeglick2 жыл бұрын
Nice. Or let's say back in 1959, when you would write programs but without a computer. Write the code with a pencil and paper. And it's not like FORTRAN or even assembly, or anything fancy like that. No, you're writing binary 1s and 0s on paper. Then you punch the corresponding holes into a punch card that holds like 120 bytes of data. After you've spent 5 days on this program, all it really does it make the computer tell the user that it's ready for more code. And you get paid like $40 for all that effort.
