The 18$ Classwiz FX991EX does majority of what Ti83+ does but for far cheaper and in terms of graphical calculators, 50$ HP and Casio beat it hands down. But schools don't allow them and it's turned into a monopoly because they don't care about you

@@lilyliao9521 Yep, TI folks lobbied the school boards for some crony capitalism. In time others would to so it does not make sense in the modern era. There are tons of approved calculators. A sneaky argument they used as far back as 1990 when I was in high school was, "if all calculators were allowed it would give more affluent folks better grades in math compared to poor students". Ha, so they made the poor parents pay for more the higher priced graphing calculators at a slight discount like complete chads. I think it was the TI81. For years this stood, and then other folks started lobbying just to compete with them, and TI still does to this day.
