I've always wanted to sort of do a "bigger on the inside" house, where the top part is barely large enough to fit the way downstairs, and then the basement is where everything is. The key would be, that the opening part is well-camoflaged. Not sure how to do that.

That's one of my struggles with the game (community lots). Here in Southern Europe stores are normally part of another building, whether it's a house or an apartment block. An ice cream parlor being its own building (as I saw in Canada) is not really a thing here, generally speaking. I wish the Sims had mixed lots, such as residential + business. That would make sense as many of the worlds in the game are clearly based on Europe yet that gameplay aspect makes the game feel even more American.

I like, like sort of individual not chain coffee shops. Lots of browns, warm lighting, maybe a bookshop part of it. Lots of brick and wood. Serves tea as well as coffee. And plenty of pastries. Room to go on your computer. That's what I imagine when I think coffee shop.
