Expecting the government (FEMA) to help is a waste of time. FEMA sent me to a lender they were affiliated with to get a loan at a "special" rate. I always wondered what kick backs FEMA gets.

I’m so sad to say this, and I hope that I’m wrong. The county will inspect his house and declare the damage exceeds 50%, forcing him to tear the house down or raising it several feet above its foundation. FEMA gave away money to illegal immigrants and won’t help those in need. I really hope that I am wrong about this and that some help will come.

This is a life lesson in how the world really works. None of these people are terribly bright or resourceful. They're expecting money to fall from the sky when they should be making plans and taking charge of their own life. Bad things happen, be prepared and find a way to take action. They might as well have a cardboard sign in the front yard asking for help. But that's just the way some people are

My point was, these people are obviously not participating in bootstrapping their life back together. You don't wait on things like that. If you have to spend 16 hours a day finding a way out of that mess, that is your job! Not sleeping in the front yard, living off charity, and waiting for free money. If the government approves new construction and paying to rebuild after floods, why would anything change. It will get worse. Under DeSantis he has lifted so much regulation that they are building in swamps and sinkhole areas. In 5 years it's gonna be a mess down here.
