You are providing an incredibly valuable service to the natural hair community. Naturals are inundated with one new product after the next. However, as these natural hair companies get larger, THEY should be leading the way in helping naturals understand these various at-home treatments (clay wash, apple cider vinegar rinse, Cherry Lola treatment, etc.) and the science behind the treatments instead of just pushing new products. If they can pay scientists to create new products they can pay the same scientists to help educate us more on our hair. It's called good public relations. Thank you for doing what you are doing!

I'm using Bentonite clay, mixed with Shikaikai powder to wash my hair for 6 months. This allows my hair to accept moisture so it curls beautifully. Then I mix Amla, oils and conditioner. It makes my hair amazingly thick and healthy. I follow this up with a THICK leave-in for extra moisture (sometimes Aussie Moist) before adding my gel.

I used your clay mixture, but instead of just adding coconut oil, I added shikakai infused oil so that it seriously cleanses

Hi green beauty great video as always, but I have a question for you. I heard other KZbinrs saying that if your hair is low porosity and you use clay too often it can change your hair to high porosity, is that true? Maybe you can shed some light on this. I trust your research because they are always so in-depth. And maybe you can do a video on CHEBE next time. Thanks again

Suzie Jaye hi, I have low porosity hair and it's the only thing that works for my hair. I have no problmes using it but I'm protein sensitive so most Indian herbs and coconut oil makes my hair dry and break off. I'm goin to try Chebe as I want to see how it'll help me with having low porosity hair.

Suzie Jaye I’ve been using FusionofCultures ghassoul clay regimen twice a month for two months now and haven’t seen any change in my porosity. I’m low porosity but I have some small sections of hair that are normal porosity. The girl I got this regimen from had been using her regimen for 7 years and so far I haven’t seen her say anything about changing porosity.

Idk if it was the clay combined with other things I was using but I remember the times I did use clay, I'd shampoo my scalp then do a clay mask never felt like it cleaned my scalp so I always poo'ed lightly first (1/2 bent. Clay, 6tbsp acv, 3tbsp water, 1tbsp coconut oil, 1tbsp castor, 1tbsp swt almond oil) I followed up with dc though. My hair felt weird. It's hard to explain but It was this weird combination of the feeling of a film & stripped. Dry I guess. Idk but it wasnt soft or smooth that's for sure. I got that affect whether I poo'ed first or not. I adjust the ph to a 5 or 6. I actually can't remember which because it's been a while since I've used it. I'd like to try it again but I'm gonna wait until the clay series is done to see if it's worth my time & if I should do it a different way. Looking forward to the info.
@cfoster68045 жыл бұрын
OMG, you were using way too much acv and oil. Too much vinegar will make your hair dry out and with all of those oils it's no wonder your scalp wasn't getting clean.

What are the cons of clay?
@LiveLaughLearn457 жыл бұрын
Star Baby if applied to the scalp, could be a bit drying. Needs to be mixed with ACV for better activation and smoother application. Mainly an allergic reaction can form.
@valeriehall73787 жыл бұрын
It thinned my hair out and I noticed a change in texure
@PackofDiscos7 жыл бұрын
Long-term damage if used too often because of its high pH and also because, while it might collect and fill in the rough patchy parts of hair as described in the video, it *isn't* protein/keratin/amino acids, so after a while, you will have simply weighed down your hair and covered up the cracks with something that cannot permanently 'heal' it.
@JF-ru3jg7 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the clay you use and what you mix it with. I've read reviews that Bentonite with ACV is very drying, and requires a moisturizing conditioner afterwards or oils added to mix to cut down on dryness. Rhassoul Clay RC is gentle and moisturizing The articles I've read and the RC distributor I buy mine from instruct you to mix with water or rose water or aloe vera juice or all of the above but no ACV. ACV changes the pH of whatever you mix it with. I'm interested to see what she says the chemical reaction of ACV is to sodium bentonite.

Thank you for the video! I have been watching the Green beauty videos learning how to take better care of my hair. I have a few questions. Post clay application, a real protein treatment was mentioned. If I do not have a real protein treatment but I have henna, which can act like a protein treatment, would this be okay to use instead? Also, if I do a body cleanse using African Bitters, would it be okay to detox my hair with the clay at the same time, or would this be too much on my body?

They're both pretty alkaline(7.1-14) and your hair is healthiest when it stays between 5.5 (acidic) and 7(water/neutral). The mixture would be okay occasionally (maybe once a month or something) as a CLARIFIER/DETOX but you would need to add apple cider vinegar to it so that the PH is at a safe range for your hair.

Also recently I watched a video that suggested adding coarse Himalayan pink salt to shampoo for dry scalp/build up and it really worked for me I had tried apple cider vinegar but no luck but this really worked for me so I was ecstatic. I was wondering if you could do a video on the benefits of salt for hair if you haven't already though I hadn't seen it .

Jo Jones I looked up fixes for dry scalp on KZbin and got the recommendation , I don't have eczema but I do have very dry skin which apparently applies to my scalp as well but this was pretty much the first time I cleaned my scalp and it felt clean with no buildup etc. It's worth looking into at least to see if it will work for you too, I don't believe it can hurt at least as long as you don't use it to often.
