Nice Video. Thank you very much. No annoying music and an arror zipping over the screen. Simple explained.

Nice work, thanks for sharing. I think the tooth profile might be a bit more accurate with Tredgold's approximation. Tredgold's approximation employs a gear tooth profile of the an equivalent spur gear with a radius of the bevel gear's back cone radius, rather than the bevel gear's pitch radius. So for 12 teeth this gives the equivalent of 16.97 teeth (12*(1/cos45)), which rounded to the nearest whole number gives 17 teeth. You would then use the spur gear tool for a 17 tooth, module 5 gear to get your tooth profile, and continue as you did. There will only be a small change of profile and the backlash of 1 mm hides any difference, so for low speed it probably makes no difference. But for a tighter fit and at high speed it would likely be an improvement. Thanks again for the video.

Thank you for posting this, I learned a lot. I do wonder why you are able to make such selections, where I have to first project items into the current sketch. But with doing that, it worked flawless!

This is awesome, I am starting to pick up fusion 360 ( I have some prior experience with CAD software) but this was awesome practice, I was making the gears along side your video and I must say it was well explained and easy to follow.

Your method of making bevel gears for 3D printing is very good and I appreciate video. It does show off how quickly it can be done. But for people new to CAD and Fusion360 it would be nice if you could remake the video moving slower when selecting things with the mouse and explaining how you do basic things like ensuring certain constraints are being done. I did not find out till the error message when trying to do join near the end of the process that the points were not actually touching the lines - like when you draw a line from the back of the tooth to the line above and the circle through the end points of the back line. I did not see end points on the line and still not sure where I went wrong. Even using slow motion and stopping a lot I had to replay and retry many times to get it right. That being said, I now can make the gears I need for my projects thanks to you.

Thanks for the comments It is a delicate balance of going in enough details without going too long I assume people making bevel gears have some experience with fusion 360 And if I understand you got your gears So well done!
@MinionAtTheGate4 жыл бұрын
@@jacquesfavre999 Yes, I understand but many people looking to 3D print some gears have no previous exposure to Fusion360. Happily after my comment here I did some searching and learned of projection and how to set automatic projection in the preferences. A basic concept (Rule #0 perhaps) previously missing from my knowledge. Thanks again.
