IDK about you since I'm 5 seconds in but I've had my BEACN Mic+Create for a few weeks now and I"m loving it. I've had some very minor issues, nothing drastic, and all easily fixed with a quick message in their Discord. I went from a Yeti and instead of going XLR I went with BEACN and I'm honestly happy I did. My user experience is so fantastic that I'll probably never upgrade unless it's to another BEACN product. Amazing value and great support. Your videos helped a ton too!

"Software" being both points 1 (best) and 5 (worst) is a perfect reflection of software as a whole. It's *so* hard to get software right, and especially if you're releasing updates often there's more chances of things breaking.

I ordered a Beacn Mic for my YT content, so far so good. I'm no sound expert so its still far from perfect but I found it really easy to understand using the guide which is a great idea. Hoping to keep tweaking it as I go. and so far no crashing that Harris has mentioned. Thanks for putting me on to this Alpha and Harris.

I have the mic and the create. The software is extremely buggy. When it works, it's the best. I don't think I could go back to something else at this point because I've seen what is possible. Now if it could just be possible with closer to 100% up time, that would be perfection.

Thanks for your thoughts! 99% agreed. What I miss most is a dedicated mute function which really mutes the mic on a hardware level. Right now it's just a global mute over windows while the amps etc still keep running.

I ended up buying a mix create after watching some videos on it. I absolutely love it. The amount of control I have over my audio is insane. It's also super simple as well. After I watched Beacn's tutorial. lol But, like you said. Because it's still such a new product. There are bugs with the software. Thankfully fully closing & starting the software again fixes whatever was wrong. Some more customization would also be nice in future updates. Like being able to control the brightness of the buttons & screen would be really nice if possible. Or someone else mentioned the ability to change the theme of how info is displayed on the device. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Coming back to say they have upgraded software even more. Now when it comes to the sources and the mixer, no longer do you need to go into windows audio to change sources. Now you can literally just drag and drop sources into different channels right in the mixer app. It's fantastic.

Your videos help a lot, thank you. I really like the Mix Create, but all the stuff in this video is spot on. In addition, if someone is using OBS to add filters to their Mic from say a standard DAC, this device might add a bit of a challenge. I'd almost want an AudienceMix2 channel so I can filter the mic separately when it goes into OBS, but still manage it via the MixCreate buttons and knobs. I feel that having something to pre-filter a Microphone input rather than using something like the built in filters in OBS before it goes into the MixCreate might be beneficial if someone wants to take full advantage, unless using the Beacn mic, that already has that stuff built in. The software is not super stable yet; I definitely feel like a Beta tester. It can also use up to 15% (normally around 5%) of a RTX2080 GPU. I wonder if frame rate capping at 30fps or less for whatever they are rendering might help with stability. The UI is good, but some elements feel cramped, while others seem inflated. Scaling the application window feels strange as it is resizes like video game window.

I've had both the beacn mic and mix create for about 2 1/2 months now and compared to what i was using (blue snowball) its great, plus not being that savvy with sound it's a way i can learn how to get good audio for my streams. Downsides are bugs yes but having it all in one is convenient, expensive yes but compared to a sm7b set up that i was looking into it is far cheaper. Not that I'm bigging up beacn as I'm sure the competitors as you say are cheaper, for me it was a good purchase for my requirements. Plus i love getting updates and seeing what they will change next, trying to find out how to get your beta version now, i want that mute option! great vid, always enjoy your content.

Can we get an update on this soon? I'm curious to see what kind of progress they've made on the software issues since this video came out in May. That’s what influencers do. They don’t let us know about the bad stuff. GoXlr was plagued with shitty solutions, build quality and buggy software too, and quite honestly, pretty toxic support at times. Now it looks like some of the same devs are behind this lookalike of a mic and peripherals. I wouldn’t hold my breath with devs like these.

One thing to the last point. Because they're often adding new things at this rate, stability will keep fluctuating. It's part of the early adoption tax from a fresh team and ambitious team. You see this often with open source programs too. In the long run this will not be a bad thing. In fact, it often lead to stable and reliable consumer standards like Audacity or OBS.

I have the mic and the mix and although there are some bugs, I am extremely happy with the decision to switch. For someone who has no clue about audio and being on a 2 PC setup my audio with the go XLR mini and a horrible yeti blue mic was confusing, frustrating, and could never get it to work properly. This new setup I had some trouble setting up at first just because of my own limitations and understanding of audio, but I went in the discord server and they answered my questions in less than a minute and had me up and running in no time. If you are like me, have no clue about audio, this setup is amazing.

I’m torn between this, the presonus revelator dynamic, or sticking with my XLR. I love the control you get with this mic and the Beacn Mix Create. I have the Wave XLR + Podmic setup that I use on my mac. It's mostly been great. But I do get jealous of the intuitive UI on the Beacn, as I'm still learning and still don't know what all the audio controls do or how I should adjust them. And I agree with your statement about software both being the best and the worst of this experience. It's great that new features are getting added and things are getting improved. For example, a little while ago, they didn't have proper M1 Mac support, but one could get it to work with a hack. That has since been fixed. But now there is some other issue which causes `coreaudiod` (the audio daemon on macOS) to gobble up all CPU, the audio to get distorted and sometimes it even crashes coreaudiod. Luckily, those can all be fixed by killing coreaudiod and the system will immediately restart it, and it will work again. But I'm hoping that issue will get fixed in a future update.

I love their product and you can tell they want to make the product we all have been asking for, but I'm definitely waiting until they implement their OBS Integration. The only reason why I'm sticking with my current setup is because I have Voicemeeter Banana and I was able to split my audio for twitch and recording on OBS and it's overall cheaper like you said (I have an Elgato Wave XLR + AT2030). If Beacn can do the same thing without me having to MacGyver audio cables and go deep into my audio settings like the pain VoiceMeeter was, I'm sold.

Hey, I found your content recently and have found it entertaining and informative. It's nice that your presenting style is not over the top. So keep up the good work. A question, if I may. Within the Beacn mixer (or any other competitor for that matter) would there be and option to use an input from an audio interface - like an SM7B into a Focusrite - and then use a bluetooth headset connected to the computer as the output? I know the latency isn't ideal for live monitoring but I only want to use it for personal reasons but am unable to find a direct answer to this. I hope I've made that clear enough!! Hope you can help, Thanks.

i agree with all of these, especially the software. i know they are working hard on the software but it is BAD rn. i have had the mic for over a month now and the bugs are frequent and the crashes are persistent. weirdly enough, getting a mix create stabilized things for me a bit. i’m hoping in the next 2-3 months they stabilize the software because it is one of the most unstable programs i have ever used right now lol. still, i really love this mic / mixer and trust BEACN to come through. to anyone still interested in this company, i don’t think it’s a bad investment at all - it when it works it is amazing. it’s just more of investment in the future and a belief that things will work better down the line. and i certainly believe it.

I've had the mix create since release and what they need to fix is the issue were you have to save your profile before shutting down your computer. if you don't, the thing will stay on while the computer is off. before anyone says, "well, you should save when you do any changes", just turning the knobs causes this to happen. that should autosave.

I have the mic and the mix. A few things I’ve found to have trouble with are solely on the mix. The mic is fine for me as I am just using it as a way to communicate with my teammate, not streaming. The mic will sometimes not even light up when I power my pc on. Almost as if it’s not connected. The second main issue is that some apps don’t stay connected, mainly the xbox companion app. It will disconnect and I cannot control the volume of my friends once it’s happens without restarting the whole pc.

I agree with you totally, if there was only 1 point that i have to really complain about is how buggy the software is. i use a blue mic and a corsair headset when im trying to be quiet and not wake my wife or son. when i switch from one source to the next. crashes 99% of the time. when i have stream labs running and streaming, the software will randomly crash. its frustrating, but i think its worth waiting it out to get them to resolve the issues. I am not using their mic, as stated before, but i was waiting for a review to do it, and i may just do that, I have alfull time getting background noises away on my blue mic. Thanks for the review!

with the quality of the software how long do you think it will take a competitor like Elgato to implement similar things like the EQ or extra output mixes?
@loon_x1486
@loon_x1486 2 жыл бұрын
We really need BEACN to create something to directly compete with the GOXLR. Something like a Mix Create with a good XLR mic preamp, good headphone amp, and line out/in and optical ports. Also, the ability to use all the good things in the software such as EQ, compression, noise gate, etc. That’s where BEACN will be unrivaled is when/if they create a product with the same or better capabilities as the mix create and GOXLR combined.

Lowkey about to buy this whole setup tbh. I have GoXLR and im like nah man, audio is all mixed up on my system cus I use 2 pc setup. This might help me and clean up the signal path and make it easier to control my audio haha

I will say this. This Mic is on my dream list to get. I can't wait to save up the coin to put it to use. The elgato wave3 is nice but me thinks this one is FAR better when it comes to all of it.

Interesting, that you put their software on #1 & #5, as it is that, which I hate the most about the BEACN Mix Create. It crashes several times a day for no reason at all and last week I had five (!) crashes within a 5 hours stream, which was ridicolous. BEACN-guys are trying to help, but they cannot find the reason and this stuff goes on for months now. I love the Mix Create, if only the software would be more stable.

I got only the mic purely because the software has the audio channel controls built in if I want them. Software bugs might get in the way of this for some, but so far for me it has worked out about as well as anything else on my system. The BIG benefit for me is that the noise suppression and EQ etc is all ON THE MIC. I don't have to rely on the software to be active once that's set in order to use the microphone on my PC or even take it to a completely different device that accepts a USB mic. In that sense, once I set it up, it "just works". Even on - get this - an iPad. Of course for streams and content I enjoy the fact that I can still use the audio channel separation and routing even without having the mix hardware product. If the software was buggy for me there, I would probably have sought a different device to do mixing. But I doubt I would give up the noise suppression and EQ being saved on the mic itself.

I would like to say, I experienced the audio cutouts with this several times, but I just switched usb's of my audio interface and the BEACN Mix Create and it fixed it, so if you haven't tried some of you out there, maybe see if using a different usb port works, sure did for me thus far.

Picked up the mic and then later the create and I love them, I think the only bug I have seen that I cant stand is one where I start up the computer and it creates nearly 200 instances of a window asking me if I am sure I want to use the mixer software (this was when I only had the mic) and the only fix was to uninstall and reinstall the software. Smaller issues would be the mic not saving the advanced settings I set for expander and going back to simple and if I mute to audience and then click the arrow on the mix create the mute audience light stays red even if what's there now is not muted to audience.

TWO QUESTIONS: 1) Once you add the EQ via the mixer, does it REMAIN that way or do we have to reset everything after every time you turn off the mic when not in use? 2) Can you create a preset after you have it mixed the way you want the mic to sound from that point forward in case it doesn't retain that setting OR if you want to use the mic on a different PC/laptop and you just want to import that preset to save countless minutes of redoing everything?

My hope is for a higher quality mic next time, and the software to be better by then. Right now MIDI Mixer and a $80 mixer does what I need for audio mixing... but I would love to not have my xlr cables + mic + mixer all having to be setup for recording. BEACN is the promised one... but right now... its closer to "I hate sand" and not the war hero...

🧐 so I have a question I’ve wanted to get the elgato wave mic but when I saw this I was keeping it in mind. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of money. I’m looking to separate my audio (music, game, discord) an now be able to keep music out of the vod with out having to download a plug in for obs. Would you recommend saving up for this an hopefully the bugs get iron out or would you recommend the wave or something else
@RJ-vy4yd
@RJ-vy4yd 2 жыл бұрын
Best first step for you - learn how to use voicemeeter and vbcables. You can do all of that with it and will just miss hardware controls which elgato doesn't offer you anyway. Then it's also extremely easy to have a vod mix natively in obs without any additional plugins. Beacn and Elgato are just easy way of getting that without need to learn anything as they offer much more user friendly UI. However as you said you "don't have a lot of money" I'm just giving you a friendly tip that such an expense is unnecessary and you can get all what you wanted for just couple of euros and maybe couple of hours at worst to learn how to set it up.

get the Elgato wave1 or 3 it's really solid and uses way less resources. The software is more better and you already have vst integration also for way less money.

So in essence for the negatives, if you dont want to get the beacon mic because of sound quality, you could grab a higher quality mic and the wave xlr and have a really good setup with submixes and stuff?
