To be fair, a toned down version of the Shrek and vine sound that doesn't interfere with your performance more than a few seconds, could actually improve your chances as it helps you build rapport as long as they find it funny. If they're so serious that it's a negative for them, then that mentality likely applies to the actual working environment, and it may just help you to dodge a bullet.

An extension that detects like a resolved syntax problem and reacts to it with a short clip from a movie like "well done, young padawan" or "you are my heeeero" could be funny and motivating 😅

@sdarkfx96764 ай бұрын
I mean he was overexaggerating to a point, of course. His basic idea is that AIs are not really that smart and can't do a lot. Especially in terms of coding, they're terrible, you give them semi-hard problem and even with the right amount of hints they would struggle. AIs in image/audio generation with the right prompts/settings are scary though, yeah.

@KeiS144 ай бұрын
Most likely looking for someone who designs the project first instead of jumping right into the code. I’ve seen this before, seems more common in larger companies.
@ficolas24 ай бұрын
@@KeiS14 that's why you have project managers, project owners, etc. If you want someone in an interview to show you how they code, you ask them how they code, if you want them to show you how they plan ahead, you ask them how they plan ahead. A shitty app to be made in 30min obviously doesn't require planning ahead, so not asking for it and then expecting it, is pretty damn stupid, and it doesn't mean for a bigger thing the programmer wouldnt plan ahead.
@v.h.2034 ай бұрын
It sounds like bullshit. They take a legitimate principle and apply it to circumstances where it simply isn't possible majority of the time. If they wanted to see if his thought process was good, they could simply say "but before you start, can you walk me through how you would plan your approach?" instead of having a hidden criteria. I once had a company give me an interview task to create an API. I wrote some basic tests to show that it is something I would do in a real project, but they got stuck on the fact that the tests weren't covering 100% of the code and that I wasn't utilizing every testing strategy possible... Bottom line is, if they decide they don't like you, they will just come up with a weird reason.
@ficolas24 ай бұрын
@@v.h.203 last interview I had, the guy disabled the camera, asked me a single question, and to elaborate, and didn't ask me a single thing in the entire interview. I think I could have been John carmak and I still wouldn't have been hired, doubt he was even listening. I'm glad I have a job, and am happy in it, because I really am not looking forward to searching for one.
@qxnk44 ай бұрын
@@ficolas2 when you have a hard problem and jump straight to code, you often waste a lot of time because you haven't thought it over enough. the existence of project managers, etc., doesn’t excuse the inability to solve hard problems.
