This exact same thing happened to me last month in the same industry… and I fortunately managed to find a new job pretty quickly and it’s so much better. I like to think being made redundant was a blessing in disguise tbh because I’m so much happier 😊 honestly you’ll find something even better!

I've just found out I am being made redundant from a small local authority in the north of Scotland. Im 46 years old, main breadwinner in the house and now I'm not sure what to do. Not sure I can retrain and scared my career has been stunted through a lack of development due to continued budget restraints.

Me too! I went throght the same experience, and did all that you have done! I am so sorry for everyone that has to go through this, it is a horrible experience. It is a blessing in disguise. Looking back at it now, its the best thing that could have happenend. I have learnt my lessons and have a fresh perspective on life and how I approach things next.

AI do be scary indeed. I was made redundant yesterday from a job I also really enjoyed. They haven’t said AI stole my job but it was only 6 months since they introduced it. Unfortunately I’m 45 and I’m uncertain what I’m going to do going forward. Thankfully I have a payout so I should be OK for 3-4 months but I have a wife and 2 kids to support as well as a mortgage. Anyway, I’m scared, apprehensive, frustrated and nervous about the next few months.

Hey Luke! I know it's a bit difficult. But you've got the talent to look for a better job. I am also jobless now, just resigned last Dec 31 not knowing that my online client would suddenly left me too (but he's been good, just perks of having no contract for the job at all). Adding the pain of my laptop being crashed after the project. I'm grieving also. But after this, I'll take step up because I know we can rise after what happened.
